Chapter 44.

It was midnight.

Lacey was in bed all alone.

Something didn't sit right with her.

Her new powers had been acting up, they didn't miss a chance to.

And Hunt was clueless about what to do about them.

He helped her the little way he could, but she kept as much as she could away from him, so he wouldn't be too worried that he couldn't help.

He already had enough to worry about with the murders and his pack.

After her kidnapping, she agreed to move in with Hunt after he persuaded her to. He felt that she would be more safer with him and less susceptible to her mother's attacks.

Which was true, if her mother knew she was still staying where she used to stay, nothing was stopping her from stopping by and finishing what she started.

Hunt was hell bent on getting to the roots of the murders and she would have volunteered, but unfortunately she had much more bigger problems of her own.
Like how her magic continued to act up, sometimes on instinct or by a powerful emotion.

She wasn't yet sure how it worked, but it did.

She walked to the walk in closet and picked out a change of clothes. A sweatshirt and leggings.

She was going for a walk.

She pulled her hair into a ponytail and put on her running shoes.

A quick walk.

Even though it was late, she suddenly felt invincible after becoming Fae. Like she had nothing to fear and nothing could faze her.

That was how changed she had become when it came to her mind.

Hunt was working late.

He and Suna had been meeting quite a few times to brainstorm on how to get the demon summoner. It was the name that Lacey had come up for the demon and it's master that had been terrorising Aron City.

She knew she wasn't supposed to be bothered about it, but a nagging feeling at the back of her mind kept telling her that her mother Yvaine had something to do with it.

She couldn't get the thought out of her head, but she always tried to dismiss it.

What reason would Yvaine have to kill people.

Especially since she was a Queen. Queen of the Fae kingdom.

She had been doing a lot of research about her people and she found quite a lot of interesting things.

The Faes lived in another otherworld realm, the realm was hidden to human eyes and every other Supernaturals, it was also only accessed by Faes.

Her kind were very secretive, and they always found a way to perfectly blend in even in the human world.

But they also had little trust for other kinds, other Supernaturals for example.

Her mother was Queen. Queen Yvaine Zephyr. From the books Hunt had lent her from his father's diary.

The book was about twenty years or more old and it was the latest book that was written about Faes.

It also had to be one of the handful books that was factually true about Faes.

Her mother was unmarried. But the book did mention that she had taken an heir to the throne. Her cousin was to take the throne after her death.

Lacey had found that quite odd. After finding out that Lila was her sister and her mother had two relationships with humans, she found it a little hard to believe that she didn't get married. The Faes ran on a monarchial system of government. The King or Queen was the sovereign and the Zephyr line had been ruling for centuries, Because they were believed to be strongest Faes and the secret and knowledge of the Faes was passed down to them, only in their bloodline.

Her kind, halfbreeds were shunned. They were not wanted, they were not tolerated and the law went as far as stating that they were to be killed if they posed any threat against the Fae kingdom.

She wondered if that was the reason her mother had left her.

If that was why she she was so comfortable abandoning her kids.

To save their lives?

Lacey would have believed it to be true, but after her own mother kidnapped her and tried to take her powers, she was inclined to believe that her mother was evil.

And she only wanted to use her just like she had used her sister Lila.

She walked out of the penthouse and into the elevator.

The penthouse was one of the many properties that Hunt owned. And to make Lacey comfortable, he had suggested they moved to the penthouse to protect their privacy.

Away from the watchful eyes of his family.

She sighed as she got into the elevator and plugged in her airpods.

She closed her eyes as the soothing music washed all over her and the elevator started moving.

She missed Aidas.

She loved being with Hunt. He was sweet and caring and he would give her the world on a platter if she asked for it, but she couldn't forget about Aidas.

No, not that easily. Not when he was in her mind every day and every night.

She wondered if she was weird.

She had never loved two men at the same time before. No, she had not.

The mere thought of Aidas kept her awake even while she was in the arms of Hunt.

And she liked Hunt just as much as she liked Aidas too.

She couldn't explain it.

She had been trying to push away her feelings for a long time.

Get them away from her mind because she felt they weren't valid.

How was it possible to want the two of them?

But how could she?

Adidas Vladimir was the only man on her mind.

Something clicked in her mind and suddenly she knew where she wanted to be.

It was barely an hour and she was already in front of the club Ecstasy.

Her heart was beating loudly in her chest as she stood in front if the club. There was a line waiting to get in. It was starting to feel like a really bad idea to her.

Till she spotted Kitty coming out from the backdoor.

"Candy?"

Kitty called out loud as she ran towards her, throwing her arms on Lacey.

"Hey! Kitty!"

"Oh my God! I missed you so much!'

Kitty exclaimed, her voice muffled in Lacey's big jacket.

"What are you doing here?"

Lacey shrugged as she broke out of the hug.

"I need to see Aidas. Is he here? It's kind of important."

Kitty raised her eyebrows.

"Wait! You mean you've not been here for months and you wouldn't pick my calls or reply my texts but now that you're here you want to see Aidas?"

Lacey groaned.

It was true. She forgot to call Kitty back. Several times.

So much had been going on.

"I forgot. I'm so sorry! I'm such a shitty friend."

Kitty shook her head as she folded had arms.

She looked ridiculous in fishnets and a bright pink wig, but she had not changed one bit.

"Apology not accepted. You're going to have to do a lot more than that."

"Hmmmm... How about dinner? On me?"

Lacey said and Kitty feigned disinterest.

"Will it be Mexican?"

Lacey grinned and nodded her head..

"You bet it will!!! And I'll get to tell you everything that has happened to me all this while."

She wasn't. She might talk about getting a new job and other mundane things, but she couldn't tell Kitty what had really happened to her.

Just like how she was hiding her fae ears with her hair.

Kitty raised her eyebrows.

"Okay! It's a deal."

"Come on!"

She said as she dragged Lacey towards the backdoor.

"I came out to take a break. It's been so overwhelming these days. Especially with Aidas breathing down our necks."

Kitty said and Lacey frowned.

"Aidas? What has he been up to?"

She asked and Kitty shrugged.

"Just basically being a real pain in the ass. He's always here at night and it's so annoying sometimes."

Hmmmm

Lacey wondered if it had anything to do with her.

As they walked into the inner club where the VIP section was she began to feel nostalgia.

Everything was so familiar and it was still the same.

The lights, the mood, even the smell!

There was nothing different about it.

Weirdly, she found herself missing the scene.

She loved dancing. And some of her best moments had been on the stage, pole dancing.

"I can see it on your face! You miss it don't you?"

Lacey was startled as she turned around.

"How did you know?"

She asked and Kitty shrugged

"You never really forget it do you? That feeling..."

"Besides.... I can see it all over your face. You miss this."

Lacey smiled as she watched some of the strippers leave the pole

"I have to admit. I kind of do."

She was still staring at it with a smile on her fave when Aidas snuck up behind her.

He gently pulled her hair back and whispered into her ear.

"You shouldn't be here."

He said softly, his hot breath tickling her ear.

Lacey felt hot all over.

She turned to Kitty with an apologetic smile and Kitty nodded in understanding.

"Sure. See you later."

"I'll give you a call."

Lacey said as she turned to Aidas.

Gods...

He was even hotter than she remembered.

Even better than she remembered.

His hair was disheveled, in that Oh I just got out of bed and I'm sexy look. He had the first four buttons of his black silky shirt undone.

And his eyes were a cold steely blue.

They were fixated right on her.

"Can we talk? "

She asked and he shrugged.

She looked around, the club was still very full, even though they were in the VIP section.

"Privately."

She added and he shrugged again.

She started walking towards his office and he followed suit.

Lacey ignored the two bodyguards standing in front of his office and opened the door anyways, with Aidas following closely behind her.

When he was finally in, he shut the door behind them and turned to look at her.

"Okay. What do you want to talk about?"

He asked and her mouth suddenly went dry.

She looked at his lips.

They were soft, luscious and tempting.

She remembered kissing them, she remembered how they felt like, how they tasted like.

Her whole body became hot. She wanted him. She wanted him so bad.

She wanted him to touch her. She wanted to feel his lips on hers. And his ice like fingers on her flaming hot body.

"Lacey... What are you doing here?"

"Shut up!"

She snapped as she dragged him closer to herself and their lips crashed together.

Candy.
