Chapter 181

King Josh POV

I watched in distain as my ex beta Lewis  was dragged up onto a makeshift raised platform, by the very men who once served underneath him. The camera crew I had ordered to follow the upcoming events began stationing themselves directly in front of lewis at my command. This was going to be an event that no one will forget.

Lewis's execution was to be broadcast globally, so that the entire world will find out exactly what happens to traitors and rebels, no matter who that person may be. "You should know, My queens scent is finally starting to fade on you. Soon the only thing anyone will be able to smell will be the metallic substance pouring from your chest." I whispered, as the man was forced onto his knees.

The man's face was already beaten pretty badly, although, I will admit that his initial injuries from my beating two days ago, had healed at a very impressive rate, if I didn't know how strong he naturally was anyway, I would have made the assumption that the moon goddess had aided him in his healing. I offer no exaggeration when I admit that his recovery was much quicker than the norm.

I honestly don't know what he expected me to do, if I'm being perfectly honest. I genuinely had to restrain myself from killing him there and then, when I first got a hold of him. I was, in honesty, extremely overwhelmed and taken a back by just how much he smelt of her... my mate... his scent was mixed so perfectly with hers that it was so obvious what they had been up to. They smelt like true mates, like they had become one being while they had both been away from me.

"At least I will die knowing I'm not hated by the one I call mate." His words hit me like a ton of lead, and I felt my chest clench, pain engulfing it slightly at the notion of Dylan completely hating me.

I wasn't a fool, I knew that she held nothing but distain for me. In fact, I actually rather liked it being that way, it would make breaking her all the more satisfying, still, it wasn't exactly pleasant to hear that my mate chose to fuck someone else.

I mean, it was fairly obvious that Dylan was undeniably chosen by Lewis to be his other half and I wished with every fiber of my being that she did hate him. So then I could use that as ammunition, then again, I could still try.

"My Dylan... hates all lycans... she always has and she always will, that is why it is so important that we squash this little rebellion of hers. Once she's been bought down from her pedestal, the world will finally realize that they placed far too much trust in a teenager. But, make no mistake my old friend, She hates you just as much as everyone else." I smirked seeing his fists clenched out of the corner of my beady eyes, however his head shook and a small scoff of a chuckle left his shit eating face.

"You are wrong... Dylan, hates authority, not lycans. She's perfectly respectful to those who have earned it from her." The love swimming in his eyes at the mere mention of her was proof that he had subconsciously chosen her to be by his side for the remainder of his life, and judging by both his scent and the agony that I had been feeling over the past few weeks, she had accepted him right back. Of course he wouldn't live very long to truly appreciate what he had been gifted. "The world cannot keep turning if we place too big a difference on our species. We can not continue treating humans as if they are minorities. We shouldn't be punishing them for simply attempting to coexist. You know things have spiraled out of control while you and your family have been in charge." My old friends words struck a chord with me, and it caused a gleeful grin to break out on my features.

"The initial goal was to not live in secrecy any longer. We as a species had been forced to hide who we were for the sake of the humans phobia. In the end, it was their fears that created the new world to begin with. It was their fear and their weakness to successfully drive us out that ultimately gave us the power to dominate them." Lewis shook his head and sighed clearly disappointed by my attitude.

Goddess how had the man in front of me become so weak minded? A man who both successfully and viciously I might add, subdued and killed all the previous kings palace guards in order to help us gain the power of leadership needed to beckon in the new world.

He was the sole reason we managed to attack the previous ruler so successfully, he was the reason the world fell under lycan leadership, without Lewis we wouldn't have been able to welcome the regulations that humans needed to follow. Without him, we wouldn't have been able to exert our dominance.

"It's truly embarrassing, how far you have fallen... all for the sake of a worthless human, who is fated to me..."

"It's embarrassing that you consider my actions as falling from grace, when in reality, they have given me much more support and respect than you will ever have..." I couldn't contain my growl any longer, and with the loud noise that came from my lips, my fist rose and swung, making direct contact with the bastards face.

"You can have all the respect you want, But you will NEVER have the love of your true mate... that belonged to me!" He had officially angered me! He was about to die, he should be shaking in fear and regret, and instead, there he was, goading me, taunting me to simply kill him there and then. "You should be fucking grateful... your death will be quick... That's a mercy I didn't grant Iliana..."

I am going to take great delight in seeing him suffer. After all, he has forced me to tolerate both the pain and betrayal of being intimate with my fated mate, these past few months have been fucking brutal. I became extremely smug once again at the mention of his first mate, her name being uttered caused his eyes to widen and his head to snap up to my own, I had created the wound, now was my time to rub salt into it...

"What do you mean?" I simply chuckled, and shrugged my shoulders nonchalantly as I noticed Alpha Shawn emerge with his pack in tow.

Thankfully, with the rebellion growing larger by the day, several packs, loyal to the crown and supporters of the new world have come forward to fight along me and my ideals. The battle that would soon take place would be one for the history books.

"I mean, the mere memory your first mates screams lull me to sleep at night. Her agony was like music to my ears. I thought, if she rejected you for me, then you'd go blind with rage and use your strength to help create the new world, but you accepted it, like a pathetic fool. So I had her killed, and dowsed her body in liquidated wolfsbane, I figured the only way for you to truly support the usurping of the old king, was to believe that humans destroyed your fated mate..." a loud growl escaped his lips and even with his hands secured behind his back, he lunged at me, sending us both flying off of the makeshift stage, and onto the floor below with a loud thud.

His eyes were blazing, teetering on the edge of his wolf form, his teeth and claws elongated and he attempted to snap at me, I admit, he managed to draw blood.

"GUARDS!" I yelled out, furious that they would even allow Lewis to get on top of me the way he did. Two of my men quickly grabbed the crazed wolf from on top of me.

Lewis growled and fought with the men holding him, while I simply adjusted my uniform, and my crown, then wiped the blood off of my arm that had began to drip slightly due to my old beta puncturing my skin with his teeth.

"You killed her..." Lewis screamed, furious at my story, but I simply smiled. I finally had the reaction I craved from him. "She loved you... She really loved you, and you tortured her."

"Love means nothing to me... power is what I need. When I discovered Iliana was mated to you, I knew our partnership would never work. I needed my fated mate, the one the goddess Luna chose to be my queen..." I turned my attention to the executioner and waved my hand with ease, barking my order before stepping down to command the news crew. "Tie him down!"

"Your grace." The news anchor bowed low to me, before gesturing to her camera set up. "We are ready to go live whenever you give the word." She swallowed thickly, even this stupid lady now feared me.

"You May start it." I made my way back to the stage, where I stood next to the prisoner. Lewis's head remained down cast, and his wrists were now not only cuffed, but were connected to the stage floor, it was impossible for him to move. I watched as his top was ripped open and his torso lay bare for the world to see.

The news anchor began to talk into the lens with her microphone pointed at her lips, jabbering on about how the station was 'as regular as the moon changes.' It was a stupid pathetic tag line, but it set me up for the execution.

I noticed her move away from the camera and knew that the camera had zoomed onto my being, so I stepped forward to announce the much anticipated death of the former Royal Beta Lewis.

"Lycans, this is not a devastating and difficult day, and yet, it is something that simply must be addressed. Loyalty has and will forever be rewarded, so for this reason I would like to personally thank Lewis, in the presence of the moons goddess for his honorable service as my Beta over the years... However, treachery and betrayal will always be condemned. This man's years of service doesn't justify his chose of deception, and he will face justice for his crimes, in way of execution." Uproar sounded, some plead for his life, while others simply cheered, excited by the prospect of his blood tarnishing the stage we resided on. "Executioner... Rip out his heart."

'Your grace, rebels have been spotted approaching.' I heard one of my warriors state through mindlink. Whic only lead my smile to grow.

'Excellent, let them witness his death first hand...' Came my reply as my eyes lit up with glee at the executioner approaching Lewis, his claws elongated and drew closer to the man's chest. Only he was stopped in his tracks by a voice from the distance...

"Get the fuck, away from my mate!" My Dylan came into view, a gun pointed directly at the stage and a single gun shot sounded out.

My heart stopped as I watched the speeding bullet directly hit my executioners head. I was, in honesty in awe at her accuracy and the sheer gall of my queen. The bullet flew straight through the skull of my warrior and out of his forehead, splattering blood directly onto Lewis's stunned face. The man I had ordered to carry out the death, suddenly slumped, right in front of my prisoner and the heads of everyone zoomed to Dylan.

Her determination was unnerving, and I realized just how she had managed to gain so much respect.

"Welcome back... My Queen!"
