Chapter 187

Dylan pov

Elias, Lewis's father, followed my every move from the safe haven back into the thick of the battle, I guess it was his turn to take on some action.

He shifted and began fighting instantly, while

I had paused my attacks for a simple moment to stare at the large moon, it lit the battle field tremendously making it easier to witness the growing bloodshed from each side. I watched as men and women fought ferociously, teeth were hitting teeth, claws were scraping both skin and fur, thunderous growls rang out and human screams could be heard from miles around. I felt sick to my stomach as the foul stench of death filled my nose.

The full moon continued to rise in the dark night sky, however not a single star could be seen as the war raged on. Blood soaked the large grassed area and screams, snarls and howls filled the air. I was on edge, my grip tightened on the knife that I had as I watched body's from both sides fall at my feet.

It was a slaughter, both lycans and humans were killing together, gun shots sounded throughout the clearing and knives and daggers were being thrown left, right and center. I took a deep breath before I too began to join in with the horror unfolding before me.

I had never felt fear like I did at that moment but seeing everyone fighting for the life they believed in brought pride to the forefront of my mind. There was nothing I could do but fight and pray that we would win and the bloodshed would end quickly. Although, I knew better than most that the only way to truly end the carnage completely would be to kill the king.

I had two knives stashed in the waist band of my armor, and the gun that I had kept from Clarke in the opposite hand, my spare weapons ready to cause damage at any given notice. I had to find the king!

I moved through the clearing shooting any wolf that attempted to attack me, although, it really was becoming impossible to see which lycans were fighting on our side and which ones weren't... even with the mark placed on them by the moon goddess herself.

Me however, I only attacked those who attacked me, I had one goal and one goal only... and that was to find Lewis.

I knew he had followed the king, and so I allowed my boot cladded feet to trudge through the grass, mud and dirt. As I made my way through the hundreds of warriors, all the while glancing around making sure that I wouldn't get caught of guard by a set of powerful jaws.

I got attacked, and I got attacked a lot. It was almost as if I had a bright neon sign above my head telling the kings men to attack.

So, Without thinking about it, I let my legs launch themselves off the ground, and land on top of one of the kings fully formed warriors right before he managed to clamp his teeth around me. I wrapped my legs around its waist and looped my pistol around its neck to use as a clamp. Without missing a beat I lurched my body to the right taking down the wolf sideways with me on top of it. We both got up in haste and I readied my weapon.

Its teeth snarled at me which caused a small shudder of fear to shoot down my spine, not that it mattered. There were so many people risking their lives for me why shouldn't I do the same? Another minute of stalking each other went by before we finally charged at each other. I tumbled under its body as it jumped to pounce on me, and swung my knifes blade into its front leg hearing a satisfying crack and a small howl of pain.

It began to circle me, now with a limp as I slowly spun around in place, following the beasts every movement all the while keeping my weapons at the ready. It charged at me again and this time I twisted the dagger in my hand before swinging it and hitting the rogues snout. Blood instantly began pouring out onto the grass below, It's head snaped to the side from the impact, and a strangled animalistic sound of pain left its lungs. I had to admit, the strength I had been gifted was severely coming in handy.

I quickly hit him again with the hilt, and grunted from the force I used before jumping up onto its back only to slam the silver blade onto the wolfs head. Instantly the knife once again lodged itself into a lycans skull and left the poor wolf dead. A trickle of blood flowed from its mouth before it shifted back, revealing a naked woman.

I turned to remove my weapon from the now humans head but was knocked down by another wolf. It's jaw clamped down painfully on my forearm while it began to drag my body across the grassy field. I shouted in pain, as I tried to grab anything I could find off the ground below. At the rate the wolf was going, I imagine my flesh was going to be torn right off. I fumbled frantically with my left hand until my fingers managed to grab the gun out of my belt. I prayed silently that it still had bullets left in it, I pointed it directly at the wolfs neck and fired, shooting a single bullet directly through its fur and skin and watching it leave a hole from the front of his neck to the back. He instantly fell limp on the floor dead. Silver bullets really were the best way to kill a wolf.

I quickly slid my damaged arm out from underneath the now dead wolf and clutched at it wincing obviously at the pain I was feeling.

Blood poured from the wound but I knew the saying 'ignorance is bliss'. I found a dirty piece of ripped cloth lying on the floor, probably from when a wolf had shifted, and quickly tied a tornequet around the wound instantly halting the bleeding. The armor even more damaged now than before. I Guess it wasn't completely attack proof.

My head was pounding and my ears were filled with nothing but, growls, howls and human shouts. Even so I was blinded by the task at hand, I knew I couldn't let myself be over taken by the amount of death that was all around.

The full moon was slowly reaching its peak and I did not want to see the king alive for when it did.

"We can't keep going on like this!" I shouted over the clearing to Elias who had just finished tearing into four members of the the kings guard.

He nodded his wolf head at me knowing I was right, if we kept up at this rate we'd surely lose. I was about to give the order to retreat back slightly, to regroup and plan a strategy when a growl sounded out from behind were the King originally emerged from and I saw a large light grey wolf.

I smiled slightly at my friend who had clearly bought his packs best with him to help with our fight for freedom.

"Adrian!" He instantly lept over one of the kings unshifted men and took the guys head clean off his body before running over to me, blood of the enemy now dripping from his previous clean mouth. He nodded his wolfy head at me, before shifting back into his very naked human form.

"You didn't really think I would miss a good fight did you?" I shook my head slightly at his attitude and watched as the rest of his pack and about a dozen more got stuck into the battle that was raging. "Arya, Nick and Jana will hold down the fort for a while, our district has already fallen anyway." He smiled at me before letting his claws grow and pushing me out of the way of a wolfs attack, he wasted no time in slicing his Lycan nails down the wolfs side instantly drawing blood. "The human districts are fighting against the packs in every sector. Everyone that is fighting with everything they have, is fighting because of you." He quickly finished the kings guard off and then turned to me holding out his hand for a hand shake. "Now... go and finish this."

"What do you mean, your district has fallen?!" Freddie lived in that district, and he was suddenly the only thought in my head, was he in danger? Had I ruined his chance of a good life by orchestrating all of this? If the district had fallen, did that mean that he was in trouble?

"My father..." His words stopped in his throat and he took a large gulp. "It doesn't matter... I'm the alpha of the pack now, your grace, and integration has already begun."

"Freddie he..."

"Your brother,  he's safe. I promise you that." My legs nearly gave in on me there and then out of relief.

I had felt every single emotion under the sun within that small explanation that Adrian had given me. Freddie was safe! He was safe! That was a huge weight off my shoulders, and Adrian was now Alpha, that meant he must have challenged his own father... a challenge in this new world was unheard of. I really couldn't help but be impressed by him.

"Thank you... alpha Adrian." There was a very small acknowledgment of each other, respect passing through both of our eyes as we nodded to each other, however our moment was cut short when Adrian, quickly and abruptly spun around,  pulling me behind him as he readied himself for defense.

I watched him shift instantly, once again and stared at him as he threw himself at a wolf who had taken it upon themselves to attack us as we stood vulnerably in the open chatting away.

"Go and end this, Your Grace." Adrian's voice slowly wafted through my head and I sighed, knowing there was no way I was going to manage to mind link him back any time soon.

I nodded unsure whether he actually had managed to see me or not, before running, off in the same direction the king and Lewis went, while both Adrian and Elias began working together to take more and more of the opposing side out.

Time to end this fight once and for all.

I myself encountered a few lycans during my marathon, I got knocked down, and bruised, my right cheek bone ended up being smacked on the floor after I was pounced on by a pack wolf, and so that was steadily becoming more and more swollen while blood trickled from it. I could feel fatigue hit me the longer I ran. Still I pushed on, it was so important for me to see this through to the end, I had far too many people counting on me.

I stopped in my tracks quickly when I noticed the king and Lewis fighting, both of them had an intent to kill. Lewis's wolf was stained with the blood from his previous opponents, his teeth snarled and his jaw snapped at the kings wolf as he too aimed killing blows to his old friend.

Lewis was a force to be reckoned with, I always knew he was strong, but seeing him actually holding his own against the king was something else.

I raised my gun, pointing it at the kings head, only I couldn’t get a clear shot of him as his fighting didn’t keep the guy still long enough.

My outstretched arm was suddenly clamped by a strong set of jaws while pain engulfed it. My eyes widened upon seeing the sight in front of me…

Warren was out for blood.
