Chapter 28: Meeting Jason

Blossom's POV

My disappointment was real. Watching Jevan accept his girlfriend's proposal painted a clear picture.

He wasn't mine anymore.

After informing Mr. Collinwood that the new business have been approved by Jevan and he was on-board, it was time to return home to my son.

Jevan and Adobi added an extra week to their stay in France to celebrate. Therefore, I was all by myself in the jet ride to Los Angeles.

___________

"Mommy! You're home!" my darling son called as I walked through the entrance to my apartment. His babysitter was accompanying him. After thanking her, she left.

"How's my little man?" I dropped to his level and scooped him up and ran pecks of kisses all over his face. I missed my little boy so much. I couldn't imagine life without him.

We got settled in and I took a shower before getting Jason and myself ready for bed.

*One Week Later*

It was almost the middle of the month and I was already running low on food stuff. With a rent that sucked half of my monthly salary, I was basically rationing the remainder between food supplies and Jason's needs.

The past months were tough. Mr. Collinwood's business was dying so he had to make budget cuts from everyone. I was only grateful that I still had a job.

________

It was after work when I picked Jason up from school and decided to go to the supermarket.

Jason's favorite thing to do was to push the shopping cart that stood two inches taller than him. He was always knocking things over or running into the back of someone so I always had to apologize and take the cart away.

"Mommy! I want this!" he called when we walked into the aisle that was loaded with cereals.

"You got it," I told him.

We got to the cash register thirty minutes later. I knew I had a strict budget of one hundred and twenty dollars.

"Your total is one fifty five," the cashier said.

"Shit," I cussed.

"You said a naughty word," Jason scold.

"I'm sorry baby. Mommy's just a little short on money." I searched the groceries for which items to leave behind as embarrassment flooded my emotions. People were staring and some were even laughing.

"Pardon me for not seeing the humor in this," someone snapped at the laughing clowns.

I turned and saw Hunter was cutting the line to get to me.

"Excuse me, miss, I'll love to pay for this lovely woman's groceries. Can you please take it out on this card? Here's a fifty dollar tip for your cooperation," Hunter told the cashier who winked at me, took the card and bagged my groceries.

"So, you shop here?" I asked when we walked to the parking lot.

"Not exactly but I glad I did today. You didn't give me your number in Paris."

"Aw. And thank you so much for what you did back there."

"Hey, don't mention it. Is this your little boy?"

"Yeah. In the flesh." I watched as he dropped to Jason's level and gave him a high-five.

"I'm Hunter."

"And I'm Jason. J-A-S-O-N," Jason said back which made Hunter chuckled.

"It's nice to meet you Jason."

"Are you a friend of mommy's?"

"I would love to consider myself as such. Your mommy and I recently met so we're new friends."

"Okay."

"Blossom, can I offer you two a ride home?" Hunter asked me now.

"Two saving in one day? Nah. I think we'll just take a bus or a cab."

"Come on. My car is right over there." He pointed to a luxurious black matted car.

"Mommy! He got one of those cars like in the movie!" Jason was already excited.

"Jason gets it," Hunter teased. I gave in and accepted his offer once again. In return, he got the number to my cheap cellphone.

___________

That evening, Jason and I were stuffing our faces with chips while watching one of his animated movies when a knock came outside the door.

I peeled myself off the couch and looked through the peephole. My heart raced instantly.

"You gotta stop doing that! I swear one day you'll get a heart attack!" my mentality spoke but I couldn't understand how he found me or what he was doing here.

"Blossom! Are you home?" his voice called.

I ran away from the door and took Jason into the washroom. I quickly washed his hands and his face.

"Mommy! Who's knocking?"

"Sshhh. Open your eyes wider," I told him.

Jevan's POV

The day of packing to leave Paris, Adobi spotted a flash drive on the table.

"Sweetie, is this yours?" she asked as she handed it to me.

"No. I don't recognize this. It must be Blossom's. I'll take it to her when we get back."

And I did just that. After getting her address from Collinwood, I decided to pay her a little surprise visit, but I was standing outside her apartment door and she wasn't answering.

I was certain I heard retreating footsteps a moment ago.

"Blossom, you forgot something in Paris. I've got it with me."

Finally, the door sprung open and a frantic looking Blossom tried to smile.

"Jevan. However did you find me?"

"Your boss gave me your address. You forgot your flash drive in Paris." I handed it to her.

"Thank you so much. Mr. Collinwood would have had my head if I couldn't find this."

She looked beautiful. She was wearing a white vest that did a tremendous job of revealing the cleavage her bra was doing. Her short shorts looked easy to get off. The way she stood in the doorway as more in favor of her right side and it carved out a perfect figure.

I couldn't stop the memories from parading my mind.

The fateful day when my eyes fell on her in the school cafeteria.

The times when she were being bullied and would run into my arms when I came to her aid.

The day we made love for the first time in a penthouse suite.

The foolish times I got her into trouble with her mother but it was impossible to stay away from her.

And of course, the day it all went to hell. The day she was taken away from me.

"You're welcome." I shoved my hands into my pockets, surpassing the memories "So, how are you?"

"Oh, I'm doing good. I was actually watching a movie with Jason and we were having...."

"Chips!" a voice finished. In an instant, he appeared next to Blossom with the brightest smile ever seen on a child.

"This must be Jason," I said.

"Hi. I'm Jason. J-A-S-O-N. And I'm six." He held up six fingers.

"Excellent job Jason. I'm Jevan." I dropped to his level and we did a high-five.

My heart tugged and the little bit of hope was completely lost.

He couldn't be my son. His eyes were hazel.
