Chapter 33: Trouble In Paradise

Jevan's POV

"ADOBI! Get back here! I'm not done talking to you!" I stormed after my fiancee.

"It's really not up for discussion," she calmly responded as if she was a saint.

"You reschedule our wedding date.. BEHIND MY BACK WITHOUT CONFIRMING WITH ME... and you're saying it's not up for discussion?" I was baffled at this point.

She was pushing my buttons.

The wrong buttons.

She stopped in her path to the kitchen and slowly turned to me as her hands went to both sides of her waist that was beginning to lose its shape from all her extra eating and lack of exercise.

"Jevan," she started, "You've NEVER contributed any plans or ideas for our wedding. You're too busy being next-in-line-CEO for HT so don't you dare try to give an idea now!"

"I'm not giving you any ideas. I'm giving you a command. We're not getting married any time soon, so you can call of the entire wedding plans... For now."

"Jevan! You can't do this!"

"I am doing this! That would teach you to never go behind my back again!"

"Go behind your back? How am I going behind your back when we're getting married to each other? What difference does a date makes? We've been together since Freshman year at college. I put up with all of Brooke's bullshit for three years and this is the thanks I get?"

"Don't look for sympathy. You're not getting any."

"I'm not looking for any damn sympathy from you!" she yelled. She reached for a glass and shattered it on the floor.

"You're going to clean that up," I told her.

"Why you don't want to get married, Jevan? Is there another woman? Is it Blossom?"

"Leave her out of this. She has nothing to do with anything that's happening between us right now!"

"Oh really? Because ever since Paris, you changed. You wanted to rip Hunter's head off when you saw him dancing with her!"

"You know what, I'm not doing this with you," I told her. I reached for my car keys, walked out the door and got into my Velocity Range Rover SUV. I drove from my home having no clue where to go to.

I parked outside a small café. When the fresh scent of baked oven goodies captured and invaded my nostrils, I couldn't resist myself from purchasing some.

I sat on a table by myself, watching a family of three - a mom, a dad and their son, having cookies and strawberry cheesecake. They seemed so young but happy nonetheless.

The young woman had a ring on her finger and the guy had the biggest smile while he looked at his kid.

Can I be like that with someone one day?

Having the last bite of a muffin, I peeled myself off the seat and got back into my Range Rover.

I drove again, paying attention to nothing else but the road ahead of me.

It was late evening when I found myself outside of Blossom's apartment building.

Should I go in?

Hell yes!

I killed the engine, walked into the building and knocked on her door hoping she was home.

I heard the door being unlocked and her perfect face peeked out.

"Hey," she greeted.

"Hi. Can I come in?" I asked.

"Sure. Just give me one sec." She closed the door gently and left for a good few minutes before she came back.

"Sorry about that. Just getting Jason ready for bed," she said when she came back. She allowed me in and offered me a seat on her couch.

"So, what's up?" she asked, sitting across from me.

"Adobi and I had a huge fight," I started.

Blossom looked surprised. "What? Why?"

"She had the audacity to reschedule our wedding date to next month."

"Next month? You're getting married next month?"

"No. I shut the whole thing down and she was upset about that and I upset that she would go behind my back like that."

"When you say shut the whole thing down, what exactly do you mean?"

"That we'll get married on my terms now. Not hers anymore."

I caught a slight look of disappointment that appeared but quickly disappeared from her eyes.

"I'm still sorry to hear that you're having troubles. You two make a great couple."

I slightly laughed.

You and I make a great couple too.

"Thanks Blossom. I came here because I needed to vent and I didn't want to run to my dad like a little boy.

I'm just tired of being kept in the dark about things that I'm supposed to be involved with, you know?"

She nodded in approval.

"And Adobi should know better. She should know that keeping things from me would only cause resentment. Why try to do that shit behind my back?"

Blossom nodded again.

Blossom's POV

I nodding was that of a hypocrite. His words carried a string that I desperately wanted to remove. I wanted to speak up but as he went on about his problems with his fiancee, I felt sorrow for him but guilt on my path.

Another feeling. Another feeling came into effect. A craving for him.

Oh my, he was everything I could have hope he turned out to be and having him sitting in my livingroom area, across from me, was making me moist.

He was speaking but I was thinking about all the times he made sweet and passionate love to me.

I wanted more from him.

"Blossom?"

"Huh?"

"Jason is awake."

I snapped out of my lusting thoughts and saw Jaaon standing right between us, with his pillow tucked underneath his arm and he was rubbing his eyes profusely.

"JASON! Stop rubbing your eyes like that and go back to your bed!" I snapped at my child.

"But mommy, it hurts," he cried.

Jevan got up to attend to him and so did I. My heart was racing. If Jason was rubbing at his eyes like that, his lenses would have shifted.

"Hey buddy, what's wrong? Something in your eyes?" he asked Jason who nodded yes.

"Lemme see," Jevan told him.

"No. I'll take care of him," I quickly let out but Jevan dropped to Jason's level and gently took both of Jason's hands from his eyes.

"Wait a minute.... Is that.... Is that a..." The statement couldn't be completed. He tilted Jason's head upwards and removed the objects from his eyes.

"Better now?" he asked Jason.

"Thanks Jevan," Jason answered and skipped happily back to bed.

The room was in complete silence. Jevan didn't say a word nor did I. I was too afraid because in his hands were the pair of hazel contact lenses. The ones I use to conceal the true grey color of Our son's eyes.
