Chapter 36: MamaBear

Jevan's POV

My office phone rang.

"Mr. Hollen. I have a Miss. Blossom Wright here to see you. Should I send her in?" my assistant asked.

"Sure," I responded through the receiver before hanging up.

A knock came and Blossom entered.

"I've been texting you," she started.

"I know. I saw every text."

"And you chose to ignore me?"

"That's because I have nothing to say to you."

"You have some nerve, Jevan Hollen."

"On the contrary, you're the one with some nerve, Blossom Wright. I can't believe you want our son hanging out with someone you barely know."

"What do you got against Hunter? Why are you so jealous of him?" she asked with a smirk.

Oh. So you're enjoying this. Huh?

"I'm not jealous of Hunter. He has nothing that I want. Nothing," I said.

She nodded slowly. "Then Jason should be allowed to spend some time with him. After all, I like Hunter. He's a great guy."

"You're moving way too fast with this guy," I cautioned after remembering how terrible of a reputation he held like a prize.

"You're in no position to tell me what to do when it comes to my relationship," she almost snapped.

"Fine! If Jason is spending time with Hunter, then it's only fair he meets Adobi as well."

"Are you CRAZY?!"

"I'm perfectly sane," I smiled at her.

"Hell no. My son isn't going anywhere near her. How can I know she wouldn't hurt him?"

"Likewise in my case with Hunter," I scoffed.

I folded my arms against my chest as I observed the woman before me. Everytime, she got more beautiful.

How's that even possible?

She kept her lush afro and it had gotten even bigger over the years. It framed her face like a work of art. Her skin was still like silk and for a moment, I forgot what we were discussing.

"Jevan! When are you going to pick him up?"

"Pick who up?" I asked, jumping back to reality.

"I agreed on letting Jason meet Adobi. But I swear, on God, if she hurts my child....."

"She isn't like that! She's not going to hurt an innocent child. What kind of woman do you think I'm marrying?"

Blossom sighed loudly.

"I'll be by on Friday. I can take him for the weekend and have him back to you on Sunday afternoon. How's that?"

"Sounds fine by me. Please ensure you're supervising him when he's around her. I don't want any accidents and I don't want any 'I'm so sorry.' It would be my fist down her throat."

"Damn. When did you become so violent?"

"When I had to endure twelve hours of labor to push out a nine pound baby. MamaBear becomes very protective."

I nodded in understanding but why was this turning me on?

Now all I wanted to do was to position her on my desk and bang her until she forgot who Hunter was.

"I'll see you on Friday," she said and turned to leave.

I watched her sexy ass walked out the door. My manhood rising and was disappointed due to not getting into action.

~

Early Friday evening, I left my office to go get my son. I had arranged with my parents and they couldn't wait to be officially introduced to Jason.

*

"You're early. I just got in myself," Blossom said when she opened the apartment door to let me in.

"Is Jason ready?" I eagerly asked.

"Yeah. He's just grabbing his toothbrush and his stuff teddy bear. He can't sleep without teddy so ....."

"Blossom, I got this. And thank you for agreeing on letting me have him."

"So, are you going to put your ego aside and let Hunter be apart of his life as well?"

I nodded with slight annoyance.

"Daddy!" my son greeted me and ran towards me with a bag pack on his back.

I scooped him up and held the bag myself. "Ready to go?"

"Yes. Bye mommy." He waved to his mother.

"Be a good boy. Okay? Give mommy a kiss," she said and they pecked each other on the cheeks.

"Where's my kiss?" I teased her.

"Kiss him mommy," Jason inputted.

She smiled shyly and I winked at her. As I was turning on my heel, she reached up and kissed me close to the lips.

"Take care of him," she whispered.

"I'll do just that. See you on Sunday."

"Bye."

I left, carrying Jason and his bag pack to my car.

~

I drove us to my parents' house.

Upon arriving, Jason became nervous.

"Daddy, do you live here?" he asked, taking my hand as we walked towards the double front doors.

"I did but now I have my own house."

"As big as this?" he asked again.

"Yes."

"What kinda house is it?"

"It's called a mansion. And it got so much cool things inside."

I opened the doors and we walked in together.

"We're here!" I called.

My parents entered the room with smiles.

"Ah, there's the man of the hour. Hi Jason. It's finally nice to meet you. Welcome to the family," my father said and he lifted up Jason, looking right into his eyes.

He nodded to me before disappearing with his grandchild.

"He's so handsome," my mom added.

"Took right after his father," I agreed.

Mom and I walked into the kitchen and it appeared to be a family reunion.

Everyone was there with boxes wrapped up in gift paper.

"Mom," I said, caught by surprise.

"Everyone wanted to meet Jason. You know how this family operates, Jevan."

I threw on my smile. Dad was still holding Jason and he cleared his throat, silencing the room.

"Today, we welcome another Hollen. My grandson, Jason. You were lost, but now you're found and we're going to always guide you and protect you. Welcome home," my father spoke.

Jason wrapped his tiny arms around his neck and the room filled with 'awwww' and tears of joy.

Grandma Emma and Grandpa Ethan had the most gifts. Bundles of toys.

I couldn't imagine what Jason's first Christmas with us would be like.

Uncle EJ and Aunty Zenia with their daughter, Zenobia, were also present with gifts.

My sister Jada and my brother Jase who flew from New York just so he can meet Jason.

My other grandparents, Susan and Martin were also in the room.

~

After Jason met everyone, he grew exhausted. He was making small yawns and looked like he was about to sleep.

"Everyone. Thank you so much for coming and meeting my son and already spoiling him," I added and they laughed. "I know he felt welcome but now he's sleepy. I'm going to take him home now. Goodnight everyone."

"Goodnight Jevan. Goodnight Jason," everyone responded as I picked up Jason and walked out the room.

~

I got home safely. I took Jason out his car seat, grabbed his bag, and carried his sleeping figure into my house.

"There you a...." Adobi pathetically greeted but paused when her eyes caught Jason, sleeping in my arms.

"You have got to be kidding me!" she finished.

"What's the problem?"

"You. Just a few days ago you told me that you have a kid and now he's here, in this house, with us?"

"Yes."

"I really hate the way you always think you're free to make decisions like this."

"You got a problem with me bringing my son to my house? You're free to leave then."

I maneuvered myself away from her and took Jason to the bedroom he would be occupying whilst here.

I kissed his forehead when I set him down on his bed and turned on a night light for him.

Next to his bed, was a bed for myself. I was going to keep him company.

I didn't want to be away from him for if he wakes, he might start crying. It was his first time being away from his home and his mother.

And although he slept like a log throughout the night, I kept checking him to see if he breathing or if he had wet the bed.

~

The next morning, Jason woke me. He had curled up in my arms and was resting his head on my chest.

I peered down at him.

He was the perfect son. The one I wanted myself.

After we brushed our teeth and freshened up, we headed for the kitchen.

Adobi was already up. She had prepared breakfast.

I handed Jason a peanut butter sandwich.

"I don't like peanut butter sandwiches. I like jelly. Mommy always give me jelly."

"Well we don't got any jelly and I'm not your mommy," Adobi said, snapping at him in a low tone.

"Who are you? The maid?" Jason asked her.

I chuckled.

"That's very cute. I'm your father's fiancee and your new step-mom."

"There's jelly right there. You let me get it for you last week," I told her, eyeing the three jars of jam on the second island top across from us.

"Oh. Right. I forgot." She took the jam and loaves of bread and tossed them to me. "Make your own son some sandwiches since you neglected on telling him who I am."

She stormed off.

"Daddy, is she really my step-mom?"

My phone chimed on the island top. I picked it up and answered.

"Mr. Hollen, I'm sorry to disturb you on a Saturday, but sir, you'll have to come down to the office....."

"I'm spending time with my son today. Whatever it is, call my father or my uncle."

"Sir, it's the Mayberry account. It wouldn't roll over without your signature. Your father and uncle already signed."

"Fax it then."

"Sir, Mrs. Mayberry is also here."

I sighed. Mrs. Mayberry was the most difficult client ever.

"Jason, go get ready. I'm....."

"Jason can stay here with me," Adobi cut me off, coming back into the kitchen. "We'll watch cartoons until you get back."

"Okay," I replied. I took my keys and drove to the office with all sort of crazy thoughts bombarding my mind.

~

After signing and meeting with Mrs. Mayberry, I left as fast as lightning.

I had been calling Adobi since getting into my car but she wasn't picking up.

I got home and all the bombarding thoughts became real.

Adobi and Jason were gone.
