Chapter 62: Dare The Dream

Blossom's POV

"Burning?" I repeated while I quickly reached for the TV's remote and searched for the breaking news.

'A mass evacuation is underway as locals flee from their homes because of the current situation. Eight wildfires are burning California currently. Sonoma's wine country to L.A and surrounding areas. Get out if you haven't already."

"Holy...." Jevan said when images of the fires showed on the screen. It looked like Hell. Jevan started making some calls and after minutes of watching him paced the bedroom and ordering commands, he turned his attention back to me.

"Baby, listen to me. I need you to get yourself and the kids to New York with my parents."

"What? What about you?"

"I'm going back to L. A. There's something I need at Hollen Tower and at the mansion. I promise I'll meet up with you in New York. Okay, baby?"

"Okay, but.."

"No buts. Let's get going."

We packed up our belongings, ending our honeymoon short. From the Maldives, we headed to a private Airstrip in Los Angeles where The Hollens had their jets ready.

The air was contaminated with smoke and ashes. It was like as if a volcano was erupting in the distance.

"Jevan, please be swift," Evan said to his son.

"I will, dad. I'll see you all soon," he responded. He walked over to me and kissed me passionately. Then he hugged our kids and got into his father's Porsche and drove away.

Jasmine led me into the aircraft with the children. We took our seats and became unsettled. The seats were very comfortable but a feeling of dread rode around in my stomach and I became light headed.

"You should rest. You're exhausted. Emma and I can take care of the children. You should go into the cabin. By the time you're awake, we'll be in New York," Jasmine kindly offered.

"Thank you," I answered. I got up and went to sleep in the cabin.

Jevan's POV

I went to Hollen Tower first since it was on the way. I jogged to the vault and took the money I had earned since working after my father.

I put the money in the car and drove home. On the way, I was stopped by several police officers.

"No entry. You should be exiting, Mr. Hollen."

"My apologies. I was out of the country and I just need to grab a few things at the mansion. I swear, ten minutes top."

"Okay. Ten minutes or else we're coming after you."

I chuckled and drove onwards. The sky was dark, ash fell like raindrops and the smoke was troubling.

I arrived home. The guards were already gone and I hoped they were safe with their families.

I went into my bedroom I shared with my wife. It was already lonely without her and the kids' presence. I collected the irreplaceable pictures of us.

The ones my parents took at the park with Jason and me when I first found out he was my son. The ones with our new born daughter in her nursery at her first day home. Blossom was rocking her in the rocking chair next to the crib.

I smiled, stuffed them into a bag and turned on my heel to leave when a punch hit me straight in the jaw. I stumbled backwards before I regained my balance.

"It's easy to enter your lousy mansion without security," Hunter said, standing across from me.

I straightened my posture. "Hunter, you have five seconds to get out of my house!" I warned.

"Or else what, huh, what are you going to do? You took blossom away from me, you took my children, you broke up my family and made me feel like a dead man inside. I've been waiting for this day. The day to get my revenge against you!"

I was done talking. It was obvious Hunter came for a fight. Although my main concern was to get to the airstrip to my private jet, I wanted to beat the hell out of Hunter Sax.

I launched on him like a livid dog, punching him in the face. He somehow managed to dodge a few, held my wrist and pushed me off.

He attacked and we broke the door down and ended up capsizing over the staircase.

We landed on the bottom with a thud. I got on my feet although I felt the wind knocked out of me.

Hunter hunched against the wall, bringing himself to his feet eventually.

"Blossom was mine," he said, blood trailing from his burst open lips.

"She was never yours. She was always mine. In high school and now!"

"You son of a bitch!" he shouted and came at me but I was ready for him. I kicked him backwards and locked his neck in my arm. He scuffled but he couldn't escape. I felt him going motionless and I threw him onto the floor.

"I don't want your pathetic blood on my hands, Hunter. I'm no killer but I swear if you ever approach me, my wife and my children again, I wouldn't be held responsible for what I'll do to you."

He coughed. I turned my back on him, took my belongings and was on the way to the car to leave when I felt the sharpest pain in my life.

I cried in agony and turned around. Hunter was standing with a gun. The bastard had shot me in the lower back.

I was loosing blood quickly when I felt my pants being drenched. I collapsed, my eyes straining to focus but I saw him hovered over me.

"Rest in peace, Jevan Hollen," he whispered before he pulled the trigger again.

Blossom's POV

*BOOM*

I heard the echo of a gunshot and I sprung up from my sleep. Beads of sweat were on my forehead although the air-conditioning was on.

"Something isn't right," I said and got out of the cabin.

"Ah, Blossom, I was just about to come get you. We're here," Jasmine said.

"Jasmine, where are the kids?"

"They're with Emma and Ethan. Are you okay. You look hot and it's cold in here."

"I can't help but feel as if something is wrong. Did Jevan call? Is he on his private jet as yet?"

"Child, relax. Everything is going to be alright. The fire had caused a blackout so I'm sure that's why Jevan hasn't call as yet."

I nodded and went over to the children. I was too distraughted to keep to myself.

"I don't understand! How come he didn't show up!" Evan yelled after ending the call with Jevan's pilot.

It was late. Jevan should have been here already.

"Have you tried his cellphone?" Jasmine asked her husband.

"Like a hundred times!"

"It could be the lost of power. There's a blackout. I'm sure he'll show up soon."

I was more than worried. Tears flooded my eyes. Jasmine comforted me and we leaped from our skins when Evan phone rang.

"Evan Hollen. Yes I am."

There was a long pause from Evan and darkness consumed his eyes before tears. "That can't be right! My son?? Jevan Hollen? Are you certain!?"

My heart went to my toe and Jasmine went to Evan's side.

"What's wrong? What's wrong with Jevan?" she asked.

The phone dropped from Evan's trembling fingers.

"Jasmine, Jevan is dead."
