Chapter 38: Blast From The Past
*Three Months Later*
Blossom's POV
I was trying my utmost best to cover the bruise from last night with my concealer before applying foundation.
Tears filled my eyes as the memories of the encounter flashed mentally.
_________FlashBack_____
Hunter was late. I had prepared dinner for the three of us since the chef was absent due to an ailment. And it wasn't the maids' responsibility to do the cooking.
Jason was getting hungrier by the minute and so was I. Without waiting a moment longer, I allowed Jason to eat his meal. I followed suit as well.
Hunter still wasn't home when I took the dirty plates and glasses into the kitchen and cleaned them.
I readied Jason for his bed and stayed with him until he was asleep. When his eyes went shut, I heard Hunter getting in.
I left the room and went to find Hunter.
"Hunter. You're late. Your dinner is now cold and you'll have to eat by yourself," I started.
"I already ate," he said in a low mumbled.
The liquor from his breath almost knocked me over.
"Hunter. Are you drunk? You've been drinking and driving? What's the matter with you?"
"Shut up! You're so nagging! You're not my mom!" he shouted, throwing his briefcase on the couch before removing his neck tie.
"Hunter. I just want you to be more careful. You could have met in an accident or got pull over by the cops."
"But I didn't!" he shouted again. He made a step forward and stumbled to the floor.
I went to his side and assisted in taking him into our bedroom where he tried to get me into bed with him.
"Hunter! Stop! We're not doing this in your condition!" I shouted.
"Is it because you got a next man? Huh? Are you still sleeping with Jevan, you whore!"
"Jevan and I....."
I couldn't finished my statement. I was stucked across the face.
I couldn't believe it nor could he.
It appeared that he sobered up right after and apologized to me and took me into his arms when I started crying.
__________End Of Flashback______
I sighed loudly and wiped the tears which had manage to escape. I finished my makeup and went to get Jason ready.
It was another Saturday afternoon. We were visiting Jevan's for a BBQ luncheon. I didn't feel up to it but Jason wanted to see his dad.
Once I finished getting Jason ready, we left the mansion and I drove us to Jevan's place.
Yep. Hunter bought me a car, a Mercedes Benz, when I received my driver's license two weeks ago.
He claimed he couldn't have his girlfriend taking buses or cabs but really, I thought he bought it because I smelled women's perfume on his shirt.
~
I pulled onto Jevan's wide and lengthy driveway.
Jason eagerly got out and made a beeline for his father who had arrived outside the car as I got there.
"Are you staying?" Jevan asked me.
"Ummm," I pondered.
"Please stay mommy," Jason begged.
"Okay," I answered.
I got out and followed them to the outdoor pool where BBQ were sizzling on the grill and music was blasting from several speakers.
"Where's Adobi?" I asked Jevan as I sat on a lounge chair. He sat next to me.
"She's out with some friends, doing some shopping," he answered.
"Okay."
Jason got into the pool with his floats on his arms and paddle around like a puppy.
While Jevan checked on the grill and Jason got his hands on some water balloons, I checked my reflection in my pocket mirror.
I didn't see Jason coming towards me with a balloon filled of water.
He tripped. The balloon flew out his hands.
SPLASH.
Direct hit to my face.
"Jason!" I screamed as I flung up from the chair, dripping wet.
Jevan ran to my side with a towel, attempting to dry me off.
"I'm sorry, mommy," my child apologized.
"It's fine," I told him and wiped my face with the towel Jevan was holding.
I paused when I saw the makeup was transferred. Which meant that it was no longer covering up the bruise.
I tried to escape to my car but Jevan caught my arm. He turned to Jason.
"Son, why don't you head inside and dry off. BBQ would be ready in a bit. Okay?"
"Okay, daddy."
We watched as Jason ran indoors then I dreaded what I knew was coming.
"Blossom, what happened to the area underneath your eye?" Jevan asked me. His grey eyes were dark and locked on my face.
"I.. I tripped and fell at the mansion."
"You're lying. You stutter when you're about to lie."
Dammit!!
"Hunter hit me," I answered truthfully now.
"THAT MOTHERFU...."
"Jevan! It was my fault. He wasn't in a state of talking and I kept pressuring him to talk to me. He lashed out and..."
"Blossom! Shut up! What the hell are you doing taking the blame for that son of a bitch? He put his hands on you! There's no excuse for that shit!"
"He was drunk! He didn't know what he was doing. I already forgave him so please leave it be."
"Blossom, listen to me. You need to get away from Hunter before it's too late. And I'm not comfortable with my kid being around him. He's abusing you and you're allowing it to happen!"
"He hit me. He's not abusing me. It was one hit. He didn't pound me down."
"Look at your face, Blossom. You're bruised!"
"I know. I'll be okay. I love Hunter. I can fix him."
"You can't fix broken people. You're not God, Blossom. Abuse happens in stages and he's already on the stage of hitting you."
"Jevan, just leave it alone."
"I'm not. If you don't leave him, I'm going to take my son away from you. I can't be comfortable with him being around a man who's hitting his mom.
If you want to stay with Hunter, you can go right ahead. If you don't, I can help you, Blossom. I'm not going to watch the mother of my child suffer and not help her."
"I'm not your charity case. And you're not taking Jason. He's my child!"
"He's my child too, Blossom! You really need to check yourself!"
"Go to hell. We're leaving!"
"Jason is staying right here with me. And you better get more accustom to that."
I couldn't believe my ears. Jevan was really going to take my child away from me.
Tears filled my eyes. I ran to my car, started the engine and drove to Hunter's office.
He had to know what was happening so he could hire a good lawyer. I couldn't lose my child to Jevan.
Who does he think he is?
~
I left the elevator as fast as I can and ran to Hunter's office only to get stopped by his assistant.
"I'm sorry. Mr. Sax is with someone right now and he made it clear that he doesn't want to be disturb!" his assistant informed.
"Move aside, woman!" I yelled, pushing her aside and continued on my way.
I pushed in the double doors to Hunter's office and I wish I had listen to the assistant.
Hunter was banging a blonde on his desk.
Her red polished nails were digging into his back as he pounded his five inches of pathetic manhood into her.
"Hunter!" I screamed.
He turned to me and so did the woman as they halt their actions.
My heart took a trip to my toes. The past memories flashed like crazy wide fire when I saw her face.
It was her.
Brooke Diamonds.
