Chapter 55: Additional

Blossom's POV

Life was good. I got engaged to the guy of my dreams and although we were still young people, we were happy with our son and being a real family.

As the months went by, I was informed that my mother had been released from prison and was compensated for her wrongful imprisonment after all those years but sadly, she had decided that she was going to stay in Ghana and rebuild our former house with the money she got.

"Blossom! My beautiful daughter. How are you doing?"

"Mom, it's been ages. I'm so happy to hear your voice than receiving letters and the few minutes on the prison phones. How are you doing?"

"So much mixed emotions still, my daughter. I'm hurt, angry but yet so happy to have my freedom."

"It shouldn't have been taken away in the first place. And just so you know, Brooke is doing time for her actions. The lawyers are fighting her mother's case by saying she was unaware of her daughter's doings. And she was tricked."

"They're all rotten. I'm still wondering how one woman could send me away for so long."

"Let's not even think about them anymore. You're free now. That's all that matters and I can't wait for you to meet Jason."

Jason appeared at the mention of his name.

"Jason, come say hi to grandma."

"Grandma Jasmine?"

"No. Grandma Gloria. You have two grandmas."

He smiled and took the phone and had a lengthy conversation with my mother.

Jevan and I decided we were going to visit her very soon. She had to meet Jason. I wanted my son to know his grandmother as well.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles and I was by the outdoor pool having a freshly made glass of fruit punch with the right amount of grenadine.

Jason joined me. "Mommy, is it okay if I invite some friends from school over? It's my best friend's birthday and I want to give her a gift."

"Her?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

He hid his smiling face with his hands.

"Okay. I'll have to ask their parents if their kids can come over. I'll have the chef bake a cake."

"Yay! Thank you mommy. I love you."

"I love you too, baby."

After one hour, the house was invaded with screaming children who were hyped off sugar.

I was supervising along with another parent who decided to accompany her daughter to the Last-Minute-Birthday-Party.

"My daughter talks about Jason all the time. I was curious to see how they get along," Julia, the other parent said to me as we prepared the party bags. She went on, "I had no idea he was Jevan's son."

I smiled at her.

"Can you picture my kid with your kid? Growing up together. Being rich. Having kids. Being rich," she said again.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked her.

"I'm sorry. Did I offend you?"

"Of course you did! My son is only six years old and so is your daughter and you're talking about them growing up, being rich, having kids and being rich. Is it only about the money?"

"It was a joke."

"I don't joke when it comes to my son and I'm sure your daughter is FRIENDS with Jason because of who he is and not what he is. It's parents like you who make me sick. Now, hand out the party bags."

I gave the bags to her which was filled with goodies and she handed them to the children in attendance.

I stepped back into the kitchen and cut myself a slice of red velvet cake and poured myself a little bit of red wine.

After eating and drinking, the party came to an end. The children said their goodbyes to Jason and he gave his friend a game station he wasn't fond of.

"Okay, little man. Time to get you cleaned up and ready for bed."

"Where's daddy?" he asked.

"Your dad is at work. He'll be home any time from now."

I got Jason to shower and got him some hot milk.

Then, it was time for him to get into bed. I lifted him up and felt immediate pain in my stomach. I clutched after I tucked him in.

"Mommy, are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes. Mommy is fine," I answered. I kissed his forehead and left the room feeling as if a lake of fire was being lit at the bottom of my stomach.

I called Jevan.

"Hey baby. I'm pulling into the gate right now," he answered.

"Jevan... Jevan... Je.."

"Blossom, baby, what's wrong?"

I was in physical pain. My entire body was shivering. I was right outside Jason's bedroom door.

"BLOSSOM!" I heard Jevan calling me.

He reached me so quickly that I thought he was probably Usain Bolt in disguise.

"Baby, what's wrong?"

"I'm not feeling too good. I feel like I'm going to die."

All the blood drained from his face. He picked me up and carried me to the car.

He instructed the night Maid to keep an eye on Jason as it was the weekend and the nanny was off.

He drove me to the hospital afterwards and each minute, the pains grew increasingly worse.

Nurses ran to my aid as soon as Jevan carried me through the entrance.

The next thing I knew, I was being pushed down the aisle on a gurney. My eyes were getting heavy and I drifted in and out of consciousness.

"We need Doctor Chaplin!" I heard someone yelled.

"Paged him!" another responded.

Jevan was right by my side, holding my hand. His felt warm.

I was directed inside a private room and a Doctor entered quickly, speaking instructions.

"Cryptic!" he said to the nurses and he put on a pair of gloves, " And already crowning."

"Huh?" I asked.

"Ma'am, I would need you to push when I say to do so."

"Push for WHAT?" I frantically asked.

"You're in labor."
