Her Downfall
--Jade’s POV--
I wasn’t expecting that the downfall of others would be my own downfall as well.
I called back and asked, "How many days are we going to stay there?"
"Two days," he replied.
"Hmkay."
“We can just buy your clothes there, so pack lightly.”
I hissed. "I know you're wealthy, but that doesn't make sense if you're wasting your money on the most basic things," I said
He chuckled. "I'm just suggesting ideas."
I sighed, "Well then, it's not a good idea." He only continued to laugh.
On the other line, I overheard a conversation. I believe his secretary did it. I immediately cut the call off by speaking.
“I'll pack my things, you should get back to work.”
“Okay, I'll see you later."
I could only respond with a "Hmm" before cutting the call off.
We'll take off later, at dawn. He claims that he has to travel because of the significant investor he is courting. He claimed that the Judge was the owner of a private island in Australia.
When Oli learned I was coming, he advised that I join him so that he could be more involved in his plans, even though I shouldn't have. So, in the end, all I could do was agree.
"Attorney, I'm still looking for an accountant so I can process and distribute the accounts properly. I'll call you for further updates.
I have a lot of requests for the Admiral. Additionally, I don't want to encounter a problem when I'm out of the city. Even though it had only been three days, I still wanted to be sure.
Beau's men picked me up from my apartment that evening. He worked all night, and I spent the night in his bed. He wasn't by my side when I woke up. He appeared prepared to leave and was nicely dressed. I lost it and hurriedly stood up, thinking we were running late.
He gently caressed my cheek, "I'm sorry to wake you up, but you need to get ready so we can go."
I gave a headshake.” Did you even get any rest?”
He nodded and cracked a small smile. Has he slept? Where? Last night, I didn't feel him by my side. Instead of continuing the conversation, he looked after me so that we could leave.
As agreed upon, we left early. Even though I knew he was a billionaire, I didn't anticipate that we would be traveling on a private plane. His wealth never ceases to astound me.
Beau placed a meal order for me on the flight. So I looked at Beau when the steward came over and gave me the menu.
“You won't be eating, are you?”
He even reassured me by holding my hand, "I'll nap first, then I'll eat."
I have no idea why my heart is so chilly. Though I was concerned about him, I briefly understood that I shouldn't be expressing any personal feelings in this situation. Less attachments, surely less suffering?
For the first thirty minutes of the flight, I ate while Beau dozed. Because his head was disintegrating in the middle, I felt bad for him. He probably only pretended to have slept last night in order to make me feel better.
While I was busy watching the movie, I let him rest his head on my shoulder. He soon woke up after that. His eyes were bloodshot, indicating that he had not yet slept.
I asked in a cold voice, "Are you going to eat?"
I still didn't manage to act impartial toward him. He nodded. The steward began to eat after I called for his attention.
Until he finished eating, the two of us just remained silent. Simply put, I was watching what I was watching. Upon reaching the story's climax, I found myself choking. When there was nothing the woman could do but leave the male protagonist, it was the moral thing to do.
Beau rubbed my cheeks as I sobbed. He mumbled, "Baby, watch another movie, please."
I froze for a brief second as I gazed into his eyes. I faked a laugh and stopped watching the film. I mean, we're coming any minute now.
"I thought it’s a happy movie."
He gave me a wary look. "I'll assume you're pregnant if you aren't on your depo," she said.
I grinned while he laughed. That is not feasible. Can't I just be affected too much? That the movie won me over because I could relate to it?
We left, got in a car, and drove for another 30 minutes. Unaware of it, I dozed off. I was just startled awake by the car's abrupt movements.
Beau said, "We're right here.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the clear ocean and the breathtaking scenery. I didn't anticipate this place to be so lovely. Beau and I got out when the car was parked. I immediately saw from a distance an elderly man and woman meeting us. They were both dressed for the beach.
“Greetings, Mr. Spencer, “ Beaut was greeted by the man.
Beau shook his hand back and said, "Thank you for inviting us here, Judge," before wrapping his arms around my waist.
Before the Judge told the staff to bring our belongings to the villa, there was a brief period of conversation.
Beau said as we were making our way to the villa, "You have a nice resort."
“And I'm glad you'll be able to spend your vacation here with your lady.”
"Of course. It's good to invest in things that give you peace of mind.”
Beaut grinned as he turned to face me. I made a strange smile. We paused in the lobby-like area. While I was with his wife, Beau and the Judge had another brief conversation.
After that, we headed to the villa to prepare for breakfast by dressing. As expected, we were in the same space. It's really strange. We're both so quiet, which for some reason seems strange to me. We converse, but it appears that our interactions are informal.
He changed first, and I followed suit. I was wearing a black two-piece, which I covered with beach pants, and I simply let go of my bikini at the top. Knight was glancing at me when I stepped outside.
"Change." He ordered.
"What? This is the beach, Beau. "
"I know. Just change. "
I groaned. I reached for my white shirt and put it on.
"Better?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
He sniffed and looked at me from head to toe.
"That'll do." He grabbed and took my hand so we could both get out.
We slowed down as we got closer to the beachfront where we would have breakfast. I turned to look at the crystal-clear ocean.
He questioned me, "Do you want a property like this, near the beach, I mean?
I sighed. “Are you planning to acquire one? “
"It's not that I could get one, but it's fine.”
He simply gave me a shrug and remained silent. The hours flew by. We only engaged in conversation at the table after breakfast.
“Lovebirds, I hope the remainder of your stay is enjoyable.”
I gave the judge a smile.
“Of course," Beau replied.
After that, we each went our separate ways. The couple, in my opinion, has their own goals. Beau questioned what I wanted to do in the meantime.
“You can take a dip if you'd like, but I think I'll head back to our villa.”
He grabbed my hand while shaking his head.
“No, we're going back.”
We made our way back to the villa in silence. I reclined on the bed and wrapped a blanket around me. I have absolutely no appetite, and I have no idea why I seem so exhausted. I believe Beau shut the curtain so we could finally get some rest.
“Beau, I don't want you to follow me around because I think I just need to rest for a while due to jet lag. You can enjoy yourself outside.”
He silently climbed into bed with me and gave me a bear hug. He appeared very serious. Once more, my heart ached. I now carry a heavy conscience.
How am I going to trick him? And why am I experiencing this? The idea is to trick him and profit from his wealth. But now, why is it so difficult for me to swallow the pain?
I eventually caught him snoring a little. He must have been extremely worn out from working all night, too. I stroked his perfectly groomed face. from his eyebrows to his lips and down to his nose. I'm trying to remember every feature of his face. Up until I close my eyes, I want to be able to see him.
"What do I do, Beau?" I whispered to myself. "I think I'm falling for you."
