Aftermath

--Beau’s POV--

"So what now? Are you just going to stay here and let yourself drown in that sh*t liquor of humans?" Blanco stated.

I chuckled bitterly. I wish to get drunk, but Blanco’ bane is disgusting just by thinking about it. This seems to calm my nerves, so this will be fine.

"Are you not going to go back to your place?"

Right. It's been a month since I last lived in the penthouse. Therefore, Jade's departure from me has been a month ago as well. Jade decided to leave me a month later to show me that she was only staying in our set-up for the money and sex.

I consumed the entire bottle of booze. If only this substance could kill me, I would be in luck. But no, I am aware of the fate I must accept. I'm aware by this point that unless Jade gets involved, death cannot put an end to my suffering.

But I'm still in pain. I already feel like I'm dead inside. Her leaving me and learning from her own lips that she had no feelings at all for me. I made a lot of effort to convince her to stay.

"Are you concerned Xena might find out where you're staying? But Glaze for sure won't tell her. He seems mad, but he's faithful to you. Glaze is not the type."

I swallowed hard. I remember my encounter with Glaze, days before Jade left me.

"I don’t give a damn fvck about Xena, Blanco." I uttered loudly.

Since that is the reality. If Xena finds out where I'm staying, I couldn't care less. After hiding from my pack for years, I'm finally starting to show them who I really am—something I never would have permitted before. But as of right now, I don't care.

"Don’t tell me..." He couldn’t continue his words.

To hide my ferocious response from him, I pant my vision to the side. I know he is aware, and I detest the fact that he is correct.

He said in a low voice, "I really can't believe that the curse will hit you this hard. You've always been the smart and strong alpha in my eyes.”

I cautioned Blanco, "Don't start with me."

“Please do understand that getting into a fight with you is the last thing I want to do right now.”

I've been hopping from one place to another, so I stood up and walked into the glass wall of the unit I rented for a week. Again, not because I'm worried that someone will find out where I live, but rather because it seems like everywhere I go, something is missing.

Watching the lights from the buildings made my heart ache. Every nook and cranny of my home serves as a constant reminder of her, so the idea that I ever left the penthouse breaks my heart. She is present everywhere—her scent is on my sheets and pillows, her shadow is in my kitchen.

"Did Glaze mention his promise to assist you in finding the augur?"

I remained silent. He did.

He repeated, "Would it be the time you'd come back to our world once we found the augur?"

I once more swallowed. Fvck. Now that everything is chaotic, all I can think about is making sure she's okay. I don't want her life to be still be fvcked up when I leave this world. At all costs, I must set his friend free.

I finally replied, after a long pause, "I need to wait for the decision in the case of Athena's friend.”

He cursed in silence. I don't care. I've known her for a long time, so even when she didn't bring up her friend, I already knew how important he was to her. If not for that friend of her, she wouldn't have come into contact with me in such a negative way.

She can escape all of this suffering if his friend is set free. She shouldn't switch from one guy to another just to extort money from them, in my opinion. I understand why she no longer wants me. I could still assist her without her knowledge, though.

"Your opinion is useless, Blanco."
"Heck yeah. When it’s your woman that we’re talking about, everyone has no say. If anyone has, they’ll never see the sunrise again. "
I smiled bitterly. It's fantastic that he's aware.

I even had the guts to smile at it. "Even if I leave her right now, it's still useless. Our paths will undoubtedly cross again. I'm still alive, Blanco. So the curse hasn't affected us yet.”

I'll enjoy the idea of Jade getting rid of me. I'll gladly let her kill me if that makes her happy.

"You know how much I hate hearing that, don't you?"

I drank the alcohol without replying.

“The augur will undoubtedly help us resolve this, so maybe you're right, but we still need to find her. We could still take action to somehow realign your fate again.”

I gave a small smile.

"Is she fine? Is she living well? " I asked.
"Oh sh*t. Haven’t you heard me? Are you for real? It’s your life that’s at stake here, and all you think about is her. "

"Yes," I said quietly." All I think about is her."

“Well, now that you've asked, fine. I'll tell you. When I went to her place the last time, aside from her horrified expression thinking that you sent me there to send them to jail, I didn't see anything more.”

My heart began to hurt once more as my smile started to fade. I sent Blanco to my house to deliver her belongings. That's a weak justification for sending Blanco, so I could try to hear more about her.

My Jade hates being followed by investigators. That will make her mad. Damn. I think I am hella crazy.

"You see? I bet she made it all clear to you. You're here looking so miserable while she's out there free from all the scams she did, which YOU allowed," hhe allegedly said.

I grunted while swallowing.

"You want to hear more? She laughs with her friend and smiles as if nothing happened; she was never hurt, unlike you, and all you can think about is her while she didn't even bother to ask a single question about you. What more could you-"

I commanded strongly, "Stop."

He exhaled. He seemed so exhausted.

Should I be the one to approach her again? Should I approach her and implore her to return to me? However, she begs to be set free. Would locking her up for me, knowing that it would be miserable for her, make me happy? No.

“I'll head out right away and return as soon as I have news,” he said. He was saying things that I was no longer able to understand.

"And please inform me if you’re planning to check out here. It took me a while to find this place. " He complained before I heard his steps and the door locking.

A drop of tears fell in my eye. The mark of pain that I will never show anyone.
Baby, I want you back. Please.
