Czar Gregovivk Part 5

" I know the game is coming to an end, but I don’t want this to be over, Czar... — Mabel has a way of surprising me, leaving me completely speechless.
Her face inches away, her dark eyes level with mine, biting the corner of her mouth.
" I want to be with you, sir — she says, looking at me with sweetness, murmuring shyly.
I would be a complete bastard for accepting, but the words fall silent, forgotten, pushed aside as her mouth timidly approaches mine, offering me the one thing I know I will never let go of.
Her.

My eyes slowly open as I feel the absence of her body that had been sleeping on top of mine. I tilt my face to the side and find the empty bed, Mabel nowhere to be seen. I stretch my neck as I sit up, noticing the marks of her nails burning on my back and chest. I scratch my head, yawning, and walk slowly to the bathroom, splashing water on my face. I grab my sweatpants hanging behind the door and put them on slowly. I head toward the wardrobe but stop when I notice the door nearby, leading to the adjoining room, is slightly ajar.
“Not good, shit!” I snarl under my breath and quickly walk to the door, opening it completely, praying she hasn't gone in there.
I had turned this room into an office, which was connected to mine. But as I look at the papers on the desk, with the folder Ramsés gave me lying open along with all the other notes I made from my findings, every step turned upside down tells me that Mabel has been here and read about the truth of her life. Photos of Morgana and some articles Sieta gave me about Kaiser are scattered, along with those of Macro and Sebastian. I notice a tear drop on the newspaper, where the picture of Kaiser, along with his and our father's biography, is described in an article, next to a note about the young man's murder, stating it was during a robbery. I turn and face the computer, seeing the paper stuck to it. The hurriedly written letters are clear, in her handwriting. I pull it into my hand and read it aloud, feeling as if a knife is stabbing me with every letter.
“GOMORRA!”
“No! NO!” In a fit of rage, I let out a scream of hatred. My foot rises, and I kick the damn computer, sending it crashing to the floor. “No, damn it!”
“I want to be with you, sir.”
The memory of her voice floods my mind, along with the sweet smile that opened on her lips when I turned her over, pinning her beneath me, kissing her with such need. I kick the computer with more anger, smashing it against the wall, shattering it into pieces.
“GREG!” The door to the room, leading to the hallway, swings open, and Sieta enters, looking between me and the destroyed device on the floor. “What’s going on…”
I turn my face away from her and breathe quickly, clenching my fingers tightly.
“Why is my tablet on the floor? Shit, is that water?” I turn and look at Sieta, who steps into the office, watching her gaze at the rug with a puddle of water and her device lying nearby.
Sieta bends down and picks up her tablet, which she left in my office in the afternoon to show me the footage Caien sent her about Kaiser’s meeting with the slave dealer. Sieta turns the screen to me as she presses the button, showing the paused video, where a woman faces the Dromedary, drinking a drink and wearing a large white fur coat, with Kaiser standing next to her.
“Valéria was there that night…” Sieta says, looking at me, confused. “She was part of Kaiser’s meeting, along with the mercenary from the black market. Damn, I didn’t see the complete footage; I was so stunned by Sebastian’s death that I didn’t watch it all! Look, Valéria is here; she appeared at the end of the recording.”
Sieta lifts her face and glances at the scattered papers, handing me the tablet.
“Mabel has been here; does she already know about the orphanage?” Sieta goes silent and turns to me, her expression worried as she looks at the paper I hand her.
“She knows everything!” I take a deep breath, crushing my fingers around the damn tablet, seeing Valéria's face before I stretch my arm and return the device to her.
“She asked for Gomorra,” Sieta murmurs, making me look at her as she reads the sheet of paper.
“I need to talk to her; Mabel must be with Aunt Yelena…” I turn and hurry toward the door.
“Mom was with me, Greg; everyone was at the breakfast table,” Sieta says quietly, making me turn and look at her face. “She’s not with us; I thought she was here with you…”
My body is already in motion, leaving the room. I need to find Mabel.
