Ginger Roy Part 3
“Czar doesn’t want to harm you; he wants to protect you, Mabel. He would never cause you any suffering; it’s clear the lost look he had when he couldn’t find you,” I say quickly, trying to find the right words to convince her that Czar would never hurt her. “I know you called for Gomorra, and that paused the game, but don’t be angry with him; let him...”
“I didn’t pause the game because I’m angry with Mr. Gregovivk...” She stops walking, her voice filled with sadness as she lets out a sob.
“Really?” I feel confused, not understanding what she’s saying. I step a little closer, getting near the wood and stretching my face to look through the gap between the wall and the logs.
The small woman is curled up, hugging her legs, with her head resting on her knees.
“Mabel, why did you run away?” I ask softly, reaching out my arm to touch her shoulder.
“Mr. Gregovivk will be disgusted by me when he finds out I let his brother touch me.” Her head lifts, revealing her tear-stained eyes. “I’d rather stop the game myself before he repudiates me...”
I breathe quickly and straighten my body, feeling my face grow cold and my fingers tremble as I pull my phone from my pocket and dial Baby. It takes barely two rings before I hear her voice.
“Did you find her?” she asks nervously from the other side.
“Baby, where is Czar? We have a problem!” I speak, even more frantic than Baby.
“Ramsés just informed Sieta that they are on their way to the Sodoma club; the council meeting is about to start... Why?”
“Shit!” I close my eyes and rub my face. “We need to get there now; I found Mabel. And, Baby, she needs to be part of this council.”
