Czar Gregovivk Part 2
“No, it’s not your gift, but she was brought here with that intention, to be the gift of some master, and by the luck of fate, her path crossed with yours.” He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “By Ra! And to think I was about to board my jet, ready to leave, when you called me in the middle of the night to share the answer I had been searching for a long time to unmask Morgana. I’m still in disbelief that we have a living proof, an Elite gift from the order of the Messalinas in our hands. An alpha submissive trained since childhood...”
“You have a deal with me, Ramsés.” I narrow my expression and glare at him. “The council will never know about her existence; I will take Macro before them.”
“Yes, and I am a man of honor. I will keep my word and protect your alpha submissive with my own life if necessary.” He places his hand over his heart and tilts his head slowly, looking at me seriously. “Morgana will be unmasked before your judgment, which she orchestrated herself. Your girl will not be mentioned, and I will take charge of searching for the others.”
I still wasn’t sure if I had made a good decision in calling Ramsés after digesting everything I had discovered in his dossier about the order of the Messalinas the night before in my office. But I knew he would be the only one who could help me protect her if they discovered her identity. I remember Oliver's order to Freire; everyone knew what would happen to little Mina, who had been used as a guinea pig. Freire drowned her in the bathtub of his room that same day. I recall seeing the newspaper article about a young girl who had committed suicide, but it wasn’t suicide; I knew that. If Sodom found out about Mabel, they would hunt her to clean the mess Morgana left in plain sight, but if the others were found, Sodom would not be able to clean the mess but would have to correct the mistakes made by Morgana.
But if something goes wrong and I fall for protecting my little bird, I needed to be sure that someone else would keep her safe, away from Moscow. And the cunning Egyptian, who lived in every corner of the world, would be my best option to hide her. That’s why I called him. Ramsés came to my house, and I told him everything I discovered and also who was sleeping in the guest room.
“If our thoughts are correct and young Macro is Morgana’s informant, she surely knows that the girl is with you.” Ramsés looks at me attentively. “She must be under surveillance; she’s an easy target for her buyer.”
“No more. To get close to her, he will have to go through me.” I cross my arms over my chest. “Mabel is under my protection now, living under my roof.”
“You need men; you can take some of mine.” He opens his arms and looks at me, smiling. “Raja, get some men for Czar. Don’t worry, my Russian friend; Raja will assign some of our best to take care of your girl.”
“Keep them away from her without her noticing.” I look at Raja, who nods. “Mabel thinks she is in my house because of the game; she doesn’t know my real reason for protecting her. If she suspects that I am keeping her confined, even if it’s for her own good, she might want to leave.”
“Oh, my friend, my men are the best, I guarantee it!” Ramsés laughs and sits back down in the chair, crossing his legs. “She will never know who they are, from the police car patrolling the street to the homeless man on the corner asking for money; there will always be someone watching her. If the man she was sold to is near her, I will find out. And I promise you will be the first to know.” He takes a puff from his cigar and smiles coldly at me. “From what you told me about her introduction to our world, I believe you want to have a private conversation with him.”
“Yes!” My fingers clench as the air rushes stronger into my lungs. “I really want to have a conversation with him.”
“So be it, my Russian friend!” Ramsés raises his hand and extends it towards me, waiting for me to shake.
I take my hand out of my pocket and shake his, keeping my eyes on his and gripping his fingers tightly.
“If you betray me, if you even think about mentioning her name in that judgment, not even all the mercenaries on Earth that your fortune can buy will keep you safe from me, Ramsés.” I don’t avert my gaze from him when the big guy in the bathroom steps out and puts his hand on his waist.
Ramsés stops him by raising his hand, keeping it palm up in the air, halting his guard dog.
“Ramsés de Naca never goes back on his word, Czar Gregovivk!” He leans his head forward and smiles at me. “I only ask for your sincerity in return, my Russian friend. Tell me why you are really protecting her; why didn’t you take her directly to the council? That would save your head from the judgment...”
“Morgana didn’t do this alone; she may have been with Freire, gauging the council's reaction when the first guinea pig was presented. But behind the curtains, after the idea was rejected, she manipulated the continuation of this atrocity with someone more powerful beside her, aiding in this...” I take a deep breath and close my eyes, recalling my mother’s face and my aunt Yelena’s words. “Someone used the torment my mother endured to manufacture these alpha submissives, and this resulted in Mabel’s suffering. And when I discover who is really behind this, my Egyptian friend...” I open my eyes and stare at him, letting him see my fury. “I swear I will make the biggest bonfire Moscow has ever seen to burn that bastard!”
