Czar Gregovivk Part 6

He adjusts his blazer and walks toward the two of them, while I scream in anger, punching the damn floor and trying to turn around to throw this bastard off me. My hand grips his leg, pulling him forward, making him lose his balance as I roll and knock him to the ground, punching his face. I hold his head in rage and twist his neck.
“KILL THEM ALL!” I recognize Sieta's scream, coming along with a shower of gunfire.
The sound of bullets cuts through the air, fired from all sides, accompanied by Valéria’s shrill scream of horror, along with more shots as Ramsés's men invade the hall and shoot at the mercenaries. I quickly get up and go after Kaiser, but I stop when he drops to his knees, toppling backward with a bullet in his head.
“I also taught you to never kick a dead dog, you bastard!” Morgana says, coughing up blood from her mouth, struggling to stay upright while still holding the gun aimed at Kaiser, raising her eyes to me.
She tries to take another step forward, but I catch her before her body collapses to the ground. The gun falls from her fingers as she smiles at me and shakes her head, closing her eyes.
“Don’t let her...,” her voice comes out in gasps as she clings to my shirt. “Don’t let her know about me.” She chokes, her eyes wide open, mouth agape as she fights to breathe. “Take care of my daughter, Czar, like I could never care for her...”
Morgana’s last breath escapes between her words, her face tilting back. My knees buckle as I lower her to the ground, placing her head on the floor and looking at her before me, having used her last ounce of strength to kill Kaiser. I turn my face and see the lifeless body of my half-brother. I return to Morgana. The master and the disciple departing this world together.
“THE BITCH FLED WITH YUSEFE!” I hear Ramsés's shouts and step away from Morgana, looking around among the bodies of fallen mercenaries on the floor.
Jonathan helps Baby up, her husband holding a revolver close to his wife, protecting both of them. Oliver and Adrien are with Hu Li, talking to Ramsés. Sieta has a sweaty, red face and kicks a body to the side, moving it off Santana. She reaches out her hand to him and lifts him up, keeping her eyes on his.
“I swore I’d let you kill me, mi valiente tigresa.” He smiles at her and winks.
“I wouldn’t give that pleasure, which belongs to me, to anyone, Santana!” She walks past him and turns her face to me, smiling. “Thank God you’re okay!”
I feel her arms wrap around my waist as she hugs me tightly.
“Don’t be mad, we improvised at the last minute!” She pulls away from me and smiles at Baby when she turns her face to her. “Ramsés helped us.”
I scan the hall, searching for the little bird, my heart racing when I can’t find her.
“Mabel!” I call out for her, looking among them.
I spot her small body near the wall, getting up, stumbling awkwardly, blowing the strands of hair from her eyes, looking frightened at the bodies on the ground before lifting her face to me.
“I’m so sorry, sir, I didn’t have the courage to face you when I saw that newspaper with Nate’s photo...” she stammers, nervous. “I didn’t know he was your brother, I didn’t know...”
I’m already closing the space between us in seconds, pulling her into my arms, wrapping them tightly around her and lifting her off the ground. Her mouth opens as if to say something, but she falls silent as I quell my fury and kiss her with such intensity, feeling all my life flow back into my body as I hold her close.
“You’re not disgusted by me...” she murmurs between her ragged breaths as I pull my lips away, her hands on my shoulders.
“I feel a lot right now, Mabel, a desire to scream at you, to turn you over my lap and spank your butt, just as I want to punish that little body of yours...” I press my forehead to hers and rub my nose against her skin, needing to inhale her calming scent. “But I will never feel disgust for you, my little disobedient bird.”
Mabel hugs me tighter, burying her face in my shoulder, her legs wrapping around my waist, becoming trapped against me.
“I should have told you, told the truth...” I hold her tighter and take a deep breath, pressing my arms around her body. “I was scared, Mabel...”
“Scared?” she whispers, pulling her face away, looking at me confused. “Why were you scared, sir?”
“Scared of losing my little bird, of her flying far away and never letting me get close again.” I lower my eyes to her mouth and return to her lips. “Scared that you would leave me when you found out that the evil that stained you came from Sodom...”
“Just like the one who took care of me.” She releases one arm from my neck and caresses my face. “Deep down, I knew Alekessandra didn’t raise me as her daughter, that something inside me was different... What Kaiser did didn’t destroy me, but being left in that orphanage did.”
I take a deep breath and feel the weight of the truth crush more heavily within me, knowing that not all the truth has been uncovered by her.
