Czar Gregovivk Part 4

"You have no witnesses in your favor except for the girl. Adrien is the judge; he can't testify and judge at the same time, and his women won't be allowed to give statements due to the conflict of interest of their husband judging your case," Sieta speaks nervously, saying everything I already know. "That bitch Morgana will testify, but it will be against you, even though she isn't sure of what she saw. Christ, Czar! Your only chance is to take the girl before the council and make her tell the truth."
"Sieta, shut up!" I rub my face and give her an order. "Let me think in silence."
"I didn't know if it was right to play with her, but now I see it's your only way out. You need to make her agree to play..."
"SIETA!" I shout her name, finally making her shut her mouth. I remove my hands from my face and place them behind my neck, breathing heavily. "I don't know if I can play with her," I say without looking at Sieta, keeping my eyes focused on the ceiling, knowing that before Mabel arrived, I was willing to do anything to take her before the council.
"Hours ago, you said you would play with her..."
But now I'm not so sure. Playing with novices is dangerous, but playing with broken people is practically psychological suicide—a shot to her head, leaving me unaware of the consequences and what damage I could inflict on Mabel. Someone had already broken her. To play with her, I'd have to shatter her even more than she already is.
"There’s no other option." Sieta walks closer to me and stops by my side. "If she plays with you, it will be a vote of confidence, one that Morgana won't have any witnesses to argue against. Playing Sodoma is the same as showing everyone that you didn't hurt her. No woman would agree to participate with a man who harmed her."
"I can ask her to go before the council and tell the truth about what happened." I lower my face and look at Sieta.
"But that would still leave room for Morgana to spread rumors that you paid the girl or intimidated her, you understand? It would be too easy for her to argue against that." I understand Sieta's logic well and know exactly what Morgana is capable of. "Playing with the girl is your only chance to silence Morgana forever and come out unscathed from the council's judgment."
Playing with Mabel is wrong. If I didn't hurt her that night, I would definitely hurt her by coaxing her to accept the game. I can't bear that responsibility on my shoulders.
"She's fragile, Sieta. The chances of her becoming dependent and suffering even more than she already is are too great."
"You are the one at risk now! If you don't play with her, you'll lose your seat before the council and be expelled from Sodoma, Greg." My cousin looks at me in agony, shaking her head. "Morgana will hand your seat over to that piece of shit Kaiser."
"I was scared; I didn't understand what was happening to me. I just wanted it to stop, for that damn need to go away... I just wanted to go back to being who I was before that monster destroyed my life."
Her voice, tormented by pain and guilt, echoes in my mind, making me close my eyes and take a deep breath. Mabel will never have the life she had before playing Sodoma.
"Then I will lose. It's time for Kaiser to take some responsibility," I reply seriously, opening my eyes and staring at Sieta. "I'm not going to hurt that girl more than she already is because of a damn seat among those decrepit old councilors. If it's my time to leave, then I'll leave."
"But Sodoma has always been a part of our lives; Sodoma literally is your life..."
I don't respond to her. I walk toward the door and move quickly, going out of my office and returning to the small room where Mabel is. I slowly open the door, standing still, leaning against the doorframe, and I stare at the empty room.
