Daria and Damon were so immersed in work that they didn’t even realise that the sun had already gone down . Butler Arnold knocked on the door and came inside while holding a file . 

“ This is the information regarding the current situation of the Calciano family , your highness . “ said butler Arnold . 

Daria looked at him surprised because that was Daphne’s surname . 

“ For someone to gain from stress rather than from all that workload…..I want to see what made a strong girl like her collapse like that . “ said Damon .

“ Your highness , I confirmed with the professor that most of the students finished their research assignments and are to leave in two days . He asked to speak with the doctor to make sure that Daphne’s health was good enough to travel .  “ said Arnold . 

The fact that Daphne would be going home later made him feel annoyed . Seeing him pensive like that Daria realised that he was thinking about Daphne . She felt bad but thought of it as a good thing for the both of them to return to their original worlds as they were never supposed to get to know each other in the first place . 

“ Leave that issue for later . What happened with the hacker ? Was that damn Morningstar heir involved ? “ asked Damon . 

“ The hacker was caught in the exact location provided by lady Daphne . From the interrogation it didn’t seem like he even knew lord Lion . “ said Arnold . 

“ Too bad he wasn’t involved . I could have placed a punishment on that bastard . “ said Damon . 

“ We are yet to learn who is behind him your highness . Oh ! The leader of the Morningstar clan called us to connect him with his son cause he wasn’t responding . “ said Arnold . 

“ Go and deal with that annoying guy . “ said Damon waving his hand . 

Arnold nodded his head and went out . Daria got up from the couch and walked closer to Damon to check the document regarding Daphne . 

“ So , what is the problem ? “ asked Daria curious . 

“ Apaprently her father and uncle were involved in a scam and now they owe a huge debt to the point of losing their house . “ said Damon . 

“ What ?!! Poor Daphne ! No wonder she was so worried that she worked herself to the point of exhaustion. “ said Daria .

Damon thought the same but as he read the file an idea came to his mind . 

‘ This can actually work in my favour . ‘ thought Damon . 

Seeing the smirk on her brother’s face , Daria could tell right away what she was thinking . 

“ No ! “ said Daria . 

“ No ? “ asked Damon . 

“ Whatever you are thinking the answer is no . That look on your face is saying that you are thinking of using this reason to keep Daphne here and prevent her from returning to her country . “ said Daria . 

“ Since when did my crazy fashionista sister become so smart ? To think there’s room in your head for things other than expensive jewellery , branded clothes and Hermes bags……Impressive ! “ said Damon clapping his hand . 

“ Quit it ! Don’t change the subject . “ said Daria . 

“ She is in a difficult situation and needs urgent money while we need a capable assistant to help us with work . Especially with the document on the new branch . Not to mention the company’s network security . She can do both of them perfectly . “ said Damon . 

In logical terms it was a great thing to hire someone as capable as Daphne that would reduce their workload a lot but when Daria thought about the real reason behind her brother’s actions which was preventing Daphne from leaving , she couldn’t rest easily . 

“ I know what you are up to brother and the answer is no . “ said Daria .

“ And ? “ said Damon calmly .



Daria slammed the table staring at him with an angry cold expression .

“ Don’t test me Damon Nigrescent ! I can be as scary as you when it comes to the ones that I love even to my own flesh and blood brother . “ said Daria . 

“ I quite like that scary look of yours . Reminds me of mom . “ said Damon . 

He smiled helplessly as he could understand her worry . 

“ What will make you agree ? “ asked Damon . 

Darin realised that he was not going to back down from his decision and to respect her wishes he gave  her that chance to express her condition . 

“ …..Since you won’t listen , I will have to take the matters into my own hand . Summon the three clans leaders and their daughter to come to the palace for the Golden Moon ceremony in two days . They shall stay here for a month . Only by doing this , I will agree to you hiring Daphne as your assistant . “ said Daria . 

Damon sighed displeased at the idea but he knew that he couldn’t avoid it for much longer . 

“ ….Proceed . “ said Damon with Daria nodding her head pleased . 

Damon got up from his seat and left the office to escape any thoughts regarding his bride selection process . As he walked through the corridor , his legs instinctively brought him in front of Daphne’s room . 

‘ …Even my legs walk towards her on their own…..Since I am already here I might as well check on her . ‘ thought Damon to himself . 

When he entered inside he saw the bed empty and the door of the balcony opened . He rushed to the balcony door and saw Daphne’s figure as she gazed at the beautiful garden lost in her thoughts . As she looked at the dark sky of the night filled with stars , she hoped to find a falling star so that she could make a wish .

“ …..I wish there was a falling star that really made wishes come true and helps me a little . “ said Daphne to herself . 

“ Maybe that wishing star has already landed to the ground and waiting to collect his share for helping you make your wish come true . “ said Damon with a smirk . 

Daphne was rather surprised when she saw him standing behind her . 

“ You ?… “ said Daphne surprised . 

“ How are you feeling ? “ asked Damon . 

“ Much better . Thank you for having the doctor check on me . “ said Daphne . 

“ No worries ! It was partially my fault for overworking you . “ said Damon . 

“ Surprisingly you have a conscience . “ said Daphne . 

Damon laughed a little at her sarcastic remarks . 

“ ….I like capable people so I am gonna make you the job offer once again .  Do you want to work as my personal assistant Daphne ? “ said Damon with a smirk as he extended his hand to her .

Standing on the balcony , Daphne suddenly had the feeling like she was standing on a cliff . It was either falling down from the cliff or hold the hand of the man that she wanted to escape from .

‘ I don’t know why I have this feeling that if I hold his hand , I will never be able to be free again . That this is the crucial moment where I decided my future . It’s all nonsense coming from my insecurities…….but why does this restless feeling feel so real ? ‘ thought Daphne to herself looking at Damon .

“ You aren’ the type that fears . You bravely said that you would prove me wrong and you did . Why are you hesitating now ?  “ asked Damon .

‘ Yeah ! Why am I hesitating when the answer is so clear in front of me ?……No , I refuse to let him intimidate me . I refuse to show any fear towards this person . The moment I do , is game over for me . ‘ thought Daphne .

“ No , I am not .  But I refuse to sell my freedom . “ said Daphne .

“ Being my personal assistant you will have to devote your entire time to me except for sleeping and eating . “ said Damon .

Daphne smirked as she shook his hand .

“ I am capable enough to have more hours and time to myself other than sleeping and eating .  Plus this will only be for two years only . “ said Daphne with a smirk .

Damon smirked as he looked at her hand .

‘ Now that you have held my hand……don’t expect to ever break free Daphne Calciano . ‘ thought Damon with a smirk .
