“ What does that mean that mean ? “ asked Chloe annoyed at her daring to look at her right in the eyes like that . 

“ It means that you will have to wait to become the legal duchess before you can say anything about me or my job . Plus dancing is meant for socialising with people . A single boss and a single assistant , I do not see the problem nor the offence I have committed for such displeasing comments from your part . “ said Daphne .  

“ Don’t truly to play the smart one here . Don’t you even dare to look at the duke . “ said Freya . 

“ How am I supposed to work if I don’t see him ? Plus he is such a feat to the eyes that us poor employees relax purr eyes upon while we work n thick papers . “ said Daphne . 

Arnold couldn’t help himself and laughed at how she had left them speechless .  

“ How dare you ! “ said Chloe as she grabbed her from her shoulder and prepared to throw her back . 

Arnold hurried to help her because she was a human even though under the disguise spell , she looked like a normal vampire . he remained surprised when Daphne , not only stopped the attack but was able to return the same attack that Chloe was about top do to her .  

“ How dare you ! You lowly thing ! “ said Chloe enraged .  

“ I am telling you this beforehand in case there are any misunderstandings . I am not an easy girl to deal with . get that in that head of yours and don’t you worry about your duke . No one is interested in stealing him from you .  I have a wonderful guy waiting for me whom I like very much . Hoe this has cleared your eyesight a bit . “ said Daphne as she took the file from Arnold annoyed .  

When she turned behind , she saw Damon looking at them .  

“ You are here your highness .  I apologise for the sight . I will take care of the schedule and the documents . “ said Daphne a little nervous , fearing that he would punish her .  

“ I was told that you all invited me to have tea together to discuss the ceremony yet , instead of seeing a graceful sight , I have to stand here and see the sight of my personal assistant being bullied in front of my eyes . I have zero toleration for anyone who dares to lay their hands on my people , especially on my personal assistant . “ said Damon glaring at them .  

They all gulped nervously as they stared at Daphne angrily .  

‘ I just started my day quietly ! What the heck is wrong with them picking on me ?…..I thought he would punish me for running my mouth but he is keeping my side . Well , he should be on my side . After all it was he who interrupted my dance with Lion and danced with me , making these women jealous . ‘ thought Daphne to herself nodding her head .  

“ We dare not go against you , duke . We just feared that she had a scheme in mind and thought that exceeded apart from her work field . “ said Chloe .  

“ Despite my explanation that I already have someone I like you still continue with your baseless slander . My head aches from the useless talk . Your highness , I will continue ahead with my job while you take care of your harem . “ said Daphne with a polite and professional expression .  

Damon frowned upon hearing she mention someone she likes and looked at her lip that was slightly cut a little . 

‘ The mark of our passionate kiss from yesterday is still fresh on your mouth yet you dare utter your affection for someone else ?!……Pretty brave from you Daphne ! ‘ thought Damon .  

“ I shall accompany you to the office , my beautiful lady . “ said a voice from behind .

When they turned their head  , they saw Lion standing there looking at Daphne .  

“ Lion ! “ said Daphne with a smile .  

The three girls looked at Lion surprised . He was the most sought after bachelor in the devil realms . 

“ I happened to hear your interesting conversation as well girls . 

“ Brother Lion , I didn’t say anything . “ said Leah .  

“ I know sister . Don’t worry ! “ said Lion with a smile .  

Daphne looked at them surprised .  

“ Sister ? “ asked Daphne .  

“ She is Leah Morningstar , my uncle’s daughter but we grew up like siblings . Leah , she is the girl I have talked to you about . The girl of my dreams . “ said Lion .  

Leah smiled as Daphne’s face turned red . 

‘ You don’t give a damn about the other girls wanting me . You are busy blushing because of your stupid crush . ‘ thought Damon clenching his fists frustrated .  

he couldn’t stand the lovely sight of them anymore and glared at Arnold .  

“ Go to work now assistant Daphne . “ said Damon .  

“ Yes sir ! “ said Daphne nodding her head and leaving with Lion chatting happily . 

When they were away from the others eyes , Lion held Daphne’s hand . 

“ I like you very much Daphne . Yesterday we didn’t get a chance to finish our conversation because of him . “ said Lion annoyed when thinking about Damon .  

“ I……I like you too Lion .  I will happily be your girlfriend . “ said Daphne . 

Lion forgot immediately about Damon as he hugged Daphne happily .

“ I am so happy Daphne . Can I kiss you ? “ said Lion .  

Daphne remembered the dream she had where she passionately kissed Damon .  She was conflicted about her feeling but when she argues with those women , she understood that she did  not want a relationship where she couldn’t even trust her own man  or become obsessed with him like those had become with Damon .  

‘ A simple sincere love that is only mine to enjoy….Is what suits me more ?….Plus I have liked Lion for a while now…..This is what I want . ‘ thought Daphne to herself as she closed her eyes . 

Lion kissed her gently on the lips as he held her waits pulling her towards himself .  Damon’s curiosity pushed him top follow them from behind with Arnold following him , to make sure that he didn’t cause any major problems . When he saw the two of them kissing he froze in place as he understood that the two of them had now become official with each other .  

“ Your highness… “ said Arnold slightly scared but his gloomy mood that created an immense pressure around .  

“ Let’s go back . My bride candidates are waiting . “ said Damon as he turned his back and left .  

‘ ….this is necessary in order to return to reality . ‘ thought Damon to himself as he walked ahead .  

For the next five days , as soon as Daphne finished her work , she would go on the garden and tackle strolls with Lion . They would eat together in the garden and even exchange a kiss , enjoying the blooming magic of their romance . After Daria learned what happened , she couldn’t help but feel slightly pitiful for her brother but even satisfied that things ended on their own peacefully . 

‘ Daphne and Lion seem very happy together……Having to witness such a sweet sight from his window  that shows the whole garden , no wonder this guy’s been so gloomy lately . ‘ thought Daria looking at the clan leaders who tried to continue the meeting without feeling pressured by Damon .  

Everyone looked uncomfortable and uneasy with Damon’s grumpy attitude . 

“ Everything is ready for tonight . We will be able to proceed with the ceremony without any worries . “ said Daria .  

“ You insisted on taking care yourself of all the preparations and check ups of the brides princess Daria , you are amazing . “ said Ian .  

“ thank you for your hard work princess . “ said Clarissa . 

“ No worries clan leaders . “ said Daria who had taken on the responsibility only to hide Leah’s true medical condition . 

Lucifer nodded his head , feeling quite grateful towards Daria for her help . 

“ See you all tonight at the ceremony then . I have to go as I have a lot of work to attend to . “ said Damon getting up from his seat . 

When he left everyone sighed a breath of relief . No one could deny that the air and room felt more normal when Damon left .  

“ I wonder why our leader is so angry . “ said Ian .  

“ He is just annoyed with some unfurnished work at the company . “ said Daria with a helpless smile .
