CHAPTER 32

AMETHYST'S POV

Aivan and I had just finished rocking and we were both still catching our breath while lying on the bed.

We are just both staring at the ceiling.

Until our fast breathing turns into a sigh.

Weak sighs that I don't know if it is come from me or from him.

This is it.

This is the last night I will be with Aivan.

Because tomorrow he will return me to my family. Finally, I will be free from him.

We were also eaten by deafening silence for several minutes.

It's like we're just feeling what each other is thinking.

I am just staring at the ceiling while my tongue is licking my lips inside of my mouth because my mouth was shut closed.

I can't look at Aivan.

I just let out some air.

"In fairness, you know how to keep your word." I was the one who broke the deafening silence that enveloped us earlier.

He just hums as a sign of agreement.

Because look, after that one month and a half so-called deal, I'm still alive--- it depends if he will not kill me until tomorrow or later.

"You will return me to my family alive, right?" I just asked here just to make sure. I can't trust him easily even though we have been together for so long, since it was just because of the deal why I am forced to be with him. Also, at that long time, I really does not know him well.

"Of course," he answered and I nodded and I knew he saw that in his side view.

I feel excited and also I don't know. Because to be honest, I've gotten a little used to Aivan's presence--- just a little.

But what is more important to me is that I can be free from him and I will be back to my real life, in how I used to live my life. Just something changed and that was the death of Earl.

"Should I be thankful that you didn't kill me?" I just asked this casually.

"I don't know, but I think I want to thank you," he answered causing me to slightly looked at him.

"What for?" I weakly asked here.

"I don't know. Maybe because you lessen my boredom. So, thank you," he answered in a low voice. In the tone of his speech, it seemed like he was indeed sincere.

"Y-you're welcome," I said softly and then looked down.

Silence ate us again.

"Do you have any plans after this?" he asked suddenly.

"Yes, but don't find it out," I answered that made him to laugh.

Silence filled up the room again.

There are cases that love can change a person.

I suddenly laughed because of my thoughts.

"What's funny?" Aivan asked and my laugh turned into a small smile and a sigh.

"I just can't believe that I made it," I just said here.

I just turned my back against Aivan and hugged a pillow.

"Good night," he said weakly.

"I think it's indeed a good night," I said to him.

I will be free tomorrow.

Just thinking what is the life waiting for me after getting free from Aivan.

Half an hour has passed but I still can't sleep and I don't know if Aivan was the same.

But since I didn't hear a sigh from him anymore, he must have been asleep.

After a while he moved and I was slightly startled when he hugged me.

Is he really sleeping or just pretending that he is sleeping?

But because of the warmth of his hug, I couldn't answer my question and it seemed that I suddenly fell asleep because I felt comfortable and I felt safe. I didn't stop him and just drifted off to sleep.

"Sister, are you okay?" I felt Crystal was approaching me while I was here at our sink throwing up even though I had just woken up.

I couldn't answer her because I kept throwing up, I am throwing up, but only a little.

I felt Crystal's palm on my forehead.

"You're a little hot, sister," she said and lowered her palm to my neck to feel my temperature there as well.

"Wait a minute, sis, I'll call mom," she said and immediately left me.

After a while I heard their footsteps coming towards me.

"Oh, honey? Why do you always throw up every morning?" mom immediately asked when she got close to me while I was gargling water.

Yes, it's been two weeks since I got home and I'm always like this every morning. Could Aivan have bewitched me or cursed me?

"Amy, do you want me to help you to get a check up?" mom said when I finally faced her.

"I'm just fine, ma," I answered weakly.

"What's do you mean you're fine? Look at you, you look like you're getting weak there," mom said and just like Crystal earlier, she put her palm to my forehead and neck.

"You'll get checked up later, I'll come with you. Later, your condition might just get worse. It is impossible that you are pregnant, you don't have a boyfriend now." Suddenly, my heart beat a little faster.

"Wait? Maybe you have a boyfriend now?" mom suddenly asked.

"You know that I immediately introduce to you whoever wants to be my suitor, ma," I said to her and looked at her as if I was disgusted.

I think mom just believed me because she nodded at what I said.

"That is why, you'll check up later." I just nodded at what mom said.

I don't have a job right now but because of my savings from Aivan I can use something and in fact we are now building a shop here next to our house.
I know that soon mom won't just look after a small stores, instead it will be a grocery store and we will even have staffs that will for work us.

"I think Ms. Martinez you should start seeing an Obstetrician-Gynecologists," the doctor said while sitting in front of us.

I frowned because of what the doctor said and then I turned to mom who also frowned and looked at me.

"W-what do you mean, doc?" I asked the doctor while still looking at mom.

"You are five weeks pregnant Ms. Amethyst, congratulations to you and to your partner," the doctor replied and I quickly looked at her with my lips parted.

"Is this your mother?" the doctor asked me more and pointed to mom.

"Yes," I answered while slowly nodding.

"Congratulations, I don't know if this is your first grandchild or if it will be added to your grandchildren. But still, congratulations." The doctor had a big smile but mom just blinked.

What the doctor said hadn't sunk in to us yet.

"Are you sure about that, doc? Aren't there cases of false pregnancy?" mom asked in disbelief while I am being nervous here.

"You can still ask an obstetrician-gynecologist if you are doubting," the doctor replied calmly.
Suddenly, mom just stared at nowhere like as if she was not with me.

"A-alright, thank you very much, doc," I just said while nervously looking at mom.

The doctor got up so mom and I just got up, too.

"Congratulations again," the doctor said with a smile on her face.

The doctor extended her palm and I accepted it as well as mom.

When we came out, mom still couldn't believe it. While I am still nervous here. I can't read mom's mind. I'm really nervous about what will be my mom's reaction.

I just invited mom to eat at 7-eleven first.

Since we left the doctor she has not said anything until now that we are eating.

"Amethyst?" mom suddenly spoke and I don't know because my heart beat suddenly faster due to nervousness.

"Y-yes, ma?" I replied to mom after I took a sip from my drinks.

"How did that happen?" in mom's tone, it was like she was really floating and couldn't believe it while still looking at nothingness.

I can't answer mom's question.
I slowly bit into the donut I was holding.

"Did a bad spirit got you pregnant?" I immediately coughed because of what mom asked so I immediately reached for my drink and drank it.

It seems that mom woke up because of my coughing and she got worried about me then she put her hand on my back then rubbed it.


"Mom!" I answered here while still coughing a little.

But I really want to tell mom that it wasn't a bad spirit that got me pregnant instead it was a monster.

"I thought you didn't have a boyfriend?" mom asked more.

"Yes, ma, I don't have," I replied while wiping my lips.

Suddenly, she grabbed one of my arms quite tightly.

"A-are you a rape victim?" Mama's suddenly got her eyes teary and my lips parted and even though I wanted to speak, no words came out of my mouth because I was surprised by mama's reaction.

A few moments later I recovered.
Mama even covered her mouth with her own hand.

I sighed first.

"What you said is a triggering, mom. But I was not. I'm not a victim of that--- well, it's kind of like that, it's just, I don't know." I quickly shrugged my shoulders after answering mom.
Her lips just got parted.
I just sighed again.

"I'll tell the story when we get home. Everything, mom, I will tell you," I just said to mom and she nodded.

"What we should do, after this, we will go to an ob gyne and we will confirm if there is a child in my womb," I added and mom just nodded again.

We did go to an Obstetrician-Gynecologists and there we confirmed that I was indeed pregnant.

Mom just gasped when the ob gyne confirmed that.

When we got home, I told everything to mom and Crystal. We didn't tell uncle and Allen about it. It will be just up to mom to tell them next time.

I told them the story from the night Earl was killed, about the deal, threatening to kill them, during the one week vacation until Aivan and I shared the same roof for one month that they thought I was looking for a job to go abroad.

"You should still have reported him to the authorities anyway! I also know a lawyer, your Uncle John, you know him, right?!" mom asked annoyingly.

"Mama, isn't he is very powerful? There's nothing we can do and we might just end up in harm's way, then the lawyer you are talking about might also just get involve." Mama just sighed at my answer and walked and walked in front of Crystal and me.

We are talking in our room and my uncle was not at home yet.

After a while, mom sighed again and then faced us.

"How about that child now? Are you going to let him know that?"

"No and never! I really don't want to be with him anymore, mom. Later this child will be the reason for us to be together or worse, after I give birth to this child, he will just throw me out suddenly," I immediately answer at mom's question.

Mom just sat first next to me.

"But he has the right to know that what the two of you did has resulted something," mom said immediately.

"I can support this child by myself, mom." Mom was silent for a moment.

"It's up to you. You must be ready every day that when you see that child, the only thing you will remember when you look at that child is his or her father. But I will not allow you to abort that because that is innocent," mom reminded me.

"I know that, ma," I said calmly.

I'm not a bad person to just take a life so easily. I'm not like Aivan.

But am I really ready for what mom said first?

"What if that grows up? And asks where his or her father is? What will you say?" Mom asked one question after another.

"His father is dead for me, ma. And that's what I'm going to tell to this child, that his or her father is gone," I answered.

"Oh, but what are your plans now?"

For a moment, I thought about what mom said.

"I will never let Aivan know that we have a child and I will never let anyone know that either. Then my plan now is to work first. Even if it's just at a fast food restaurant so that at least I have some extra income. After two months I'll leave here first," I explained longly about my plan.

I think I can use my savings from Aivan for my pregnancy.

"Where are you going?" mom furrowed her forehead when she asked.

Oh, yeah, where will I go?

"To grandma. Help me stay in Batangas first, mom. Then when I give birth and when the child is at least two years old, I will go abroad," I answered.

"Who will watch the child?"

Mom has so many questions.

"You guys. Then just move to Batangas because it will be bit suspicious if you're suddenly looking after a child here," I replied and mom sighed again.

Mom held my hand while her eyes were teary but she's smiling.

"I just asked about your plans and I want you to know that I'm going to help you. You're already big, Amethyst. We can handle this," mom said sincerely and then hugged me.

"Thank you, ma," I said as she rubbed my back.

After we let go of the hug, I turned to Crystal and we hugged.

"I'll be a good aunt to my niece, sister," Crystal said and I just laughed.

"Thank you, Tal." I just smile here.

"But, honey, didn't I tell you something? I gave you a warning before." I furrowed at what mom said when I looked at her.

"What is it, ma?" I ask here.

"I already told you, you should do safe s*x," mom even lowered her voice at the end as if it was really forbidden for others to hear.

I looked at mom flatly and she laughed and then hugged me and Crystal joined as well.

"I love you all." Mama even kissed Crystal and I's heads.

Mom really knows how to lighten my heart.

But still, yes the deal is already done. But, someone will be added to us. But I will not abandon my child. I will make this baby as an inspiration for my everyday. I will be a good mother as much as mom is good. I know that they will not let me down and that they will help me and my soon to be baby.
