194 - Small Talks In Bed

When they got back to the room, they discussed different names that they could name their babies but none felt satisfactory enough and they would move from one to another.

It was such a wonderful moment, to be in his arms, in bed with her head resting on his chest and listening to the vibration of his voice while he kept his hand on her belly.

So wonderful.

However, she was worried for her people and she spoke up about it.

Silence fell between them for a moment before he broke it.

“I already told them to stop.”

“What? Really?”

“Yes. The werewolves that have already turned will be brought here, into the capital.”

“How about they stay in the pack, and you provide vampire physicians to take care of them there. Ripping them apart from their families while they go through such a powerful change doesn't seem like the right thing to do. Also, it might breed hatred.\`\`

“Hmmm,” Valerick hummed while she continued staring at the ceiling, watching the tapestry that spoke of the Soul Seizer, as she held her breath for an answer.

Doing that was easy, the pregnancy was already holding her breath all the time anyways.

“I will see what I can do about that.”

She smiled.

“If they chose to come here, however, their families can visit or move here too. Same will apply for those who are in the middle of the process. They will all have to pass a test to ensure loyalty and pure intentions. Also, that will put my people at ease. They won't like it but they tolerate it and grow to accept it.”

“Both sides will be growing to accept it. We can serve as a representative of a good union. Show them that it is possible.” They both laughed.

“Are you— alright? She asked, her voice thoughtful.

“Why?”

“Your sister is dead—”

“As it should be. Why wouldn't I be alright?”

She tried to look at him now but he was staring at the tapestry.

“You seemed close.”

He chuckled. “I’m angry instead, I tried to give her everything but she did what she did. It would have brought me great pleasure if I was the one to bring her to her demise. You do not grieve for one who wanted you dead, you celebrate their demise. Also, Delice can't stay in the Castle anymore, as soon as safety is ensured, they will have to leave the Capital. I understand that she was greatly manipulated but I need to get rid of everyone that was involved in this.”

She smiled nervously. “I feel so embarrassed and filled with guilt. I’m so sorry.”

“It is alright.”

“You are more than I deserve.”

“No, you are.”

She smiled as she wiped her tears away, knowing that he wouldn't let her win this argument. “Thank you for my people.”

“Well, I am their king as well.”

She frowned. “Still under slavery I see—”

“No, sorry. I misspoke. It is in my blood to conquer and take. Forgive me.” Then he added, “We shall stay together in harmony which means there will be some agreement to be signed with whosoever the new Alpha will be. I was thinking of George but it doesn't seem like a great fit, his hatred runs deep.”

“Alphas are chosen based on strength and logic, there will be a fight for it. If it turns out to be George,” she paused. George was the strongest werewolf she knew. Even when the Alpha still led the Capital, George had the strength to take him down. He was also from a long line of Alphas, his bloodline was strong. He had some qualities too, like erasing people's memories with his thumb.

It was better to have George for them than against them and maybe his wolf's connection with Delice would help with this. Also, he loved their daughter a lot.

There was hope.

She told all that to Valerick.

“Both sides will find a way around it. Everything will turn out great.”

Valerick signed, audibly as he ran his fingers through his hair.

“This will be so difficult for my kind to accept, and honestly it is not good for the army,” he turned to her, holding her gaze, “but I love you, Zezi. I might not understand why you love the things you love but I love you enough to value them just as much as you do. I’m not there yet but I’m trying and I promise to try harder. We are in this together.”

“I’ll try too. For you.” Her hand moved over the side of his face.

“Thank you,” he said, pressing a kiss to her lips.

When they pulled away, her fingers trailed a lazy line over her mark on his neck and his eyes darkened.

“How innocent are your thoughts?”

“Very innocent.”

“Come here,” he said with a husky voice as he pulled her to him while she giggled.

This was perfect.

So perfect.

What could possibly go wrong?
