195 - Trials and Judgement

Everything went wrong in the morning. At least, that was how it had started, with one bad news.

“Some of my kind have mysteriously gone missing,” Valerick said as he pressed a kiss to Zezi's forehead. She was struggling to wake up before, feeling  sore and tired, but with what he had said, sleep vanished from her eyes.

“What?!”

He pushed her gently back to bed. “It will be resolved in the meeting, I will find a way.”

“Should I go with you? I think I should,” she said with worry, her voice still slightly hoarse with sleep.

Valerick shook his head, adjusting his cufflinks, explaining to her that they would be discussing other things in the meeting such as a punishment for Delice for being a part of the revolution.

“It is a treasonous act, you know,” he added and she nodded. She wanted to go to the meeting  to start working on her promise of giving Valerick and his people a fair chance, however with Valerick's explanation, she understood her presence in the meeting wouldn't help at all. The people would be prosecuting one of their own; they would have nothing but worse things for her.

“Delice was manipulated, please be merciful to her,” Valerick frowned, after those words, then his face softened slightly after she added, “as you have been merciful to me.”

“I will try. Now,” he turned towards the door, “ensure that you rest. If you need me, remember,” he stopped speaking and the next second his voice seeped through their mind link, while he held her gaze. “I am always here.”

A smile crossed her lips and she replied through the mind link. “I won't forget. Please, be safe for me. For us.”

He smiled, his glance moving to her belly before closing the door gently. “I will.”

In the meeting room, the first thing they had spoken about was the mysterious disappearance.

Three vampires were missing. They had gone out to drink and they hadn't been back yet. It was a high probability that they were somewhere passed out.

Only three people with the possibility of not being actually missing? That was a relief for Valerick, he had been slightly worried that another revolution was brewing or maybe there was a den of the White Circle he hasn't destroyed yet, but this put him at ease.

Valerick ordered some guards to find the missing vampires as soon as possible, and they moved on to the next thing on the list.

“Let us not forget all the good that Lady Delice has done for us. Let us remember that she was the one who killed the leader of this revolution against the King. She would never have done this in her freewill! She was manipulated!” The Lord that was speaking, Lord Faquad, took a break to allow his words sink in as he looked around at the other lords in the throne room.

They nodded, allowing his words to turn in their minds and showing approval for it.

His eyes moved to Lady Delice who was standing by the right side in front of them after giving her statement.

“Our poor sweet Lady Delice was manipulated by her best friend,” Lord Kasar spoke, picking it up from where Faquad stopped. “Let us also not forget how the leader of the Revolution had taken her daughter away from her. She is not a part of this revolution, if we think about it properly, she is nothing but a victim of expert manipulation. Your Majesty, we plead for your mercy on this.”

Lord Faquad spoke again, “Please consider that it is not hatred for you that has pushed our Lady Delice to this but her love for the King to see him at his best and desire for the best for Lavida.”

Then they said together, “She has realized her mistake and it won't occur again.” Lord Faquad and Kasar bowed, then took their seats.

Then each vampire that believed mercy should be granted stood up, stating their plea, then sitting back down. Lord Rosil was one of them.

Mercy.

Valerick scoffed in his head. He was merciful and that was the only reason that she was alive. But his mate had also begged for mercy on her behalf.

Valerick knew that he wasn't applying the same measure of justice for these two beings that were close to him, he knew of his partiality but he just didn't care.

He loved Zezi and that was that.

So being merciful he stripped her off her title as the Royal Advisor. She didn't have the right to have such a title anymore anyways. A Royal Advisor shouldn't be easily manipulated which happened due to the strong emotions she had for him and that was the very reason why once the cave was declared safe, she would have to leave Lavida.

So yes, she was stripped of her title and obligated to leave Lavida once it was safe to, but she wasn't stripped of her soul nor was she thrown in the dungeon or put under torture in any form.

That was mercy, too much mercy!

Zezi would have to pay the price for his leniency. Even better, he has some ideas he wished to explore but that would have to be on hold for now.

“My deepest gratitude, your Majesty. I am forever grateful for your mercy!” Delice bowed to the King and smiled at the Lords who were also happy with the decision.

Delice was surprised and more than happy with her punishment. She wanted to leave Lavida with her family anyways and honestly, she believed it would be in her best interest to leave the castle so she could forget about the dreadful things that had happened to her here and everything else that connected itself with Laura.

Although she would miss some people such as Gwen who she believed must be extremely disappointed in her for her involvement in the revolution, that was if she didn't even hate her now, and Zezi whom she was certain must have something to do with this mercy, Nicholas, and many others that she couldn't think of presently. Her regret for Akeem’s death was still there and she hoped with the funeral she had performed for him, his soul would finally know peace.

Then there was George and Ka’ik. What happened between them this morning troubled her mind but just at that moment she heard something that might bring actual trouble to everyone here when Lord Kasar had asked.

“Where is the Queen? She is a traitor too, she should be here to receive her judgment. Where is the werewolf?”
