Chapter 10

The day had come, the day the Darley has to protect her reputation as Luna of the pack. She was to fight Lucinda, the werewolf who wanted to take her mate, and her pack. The rain was angering over the field where the fight was going to take place with the thunder calling above to the heavens.

"Are you okay?" Max asked, he looked at his mate, fearing it would be her last day here. If Lucinda won then that would be it, he would have to leave the pack with his mate, that is if she wasn't dead which was a possibility.
"Yeah, just pissed that I'm doing this if I am honest. If you would've just told me this wouldn't have happened." She wasn't blaming him intently. She was still hurt by what had happened.
"I know, and I am sorry you know that." He said, going to reach for her hand, as she pulled it away.
"Yes, I do. But I am still upset by it." She stood up off of the bed and walked to the wardrobe, she wasn't picking an outfit out as this whole thing was going to be fought in wolf form, she was just looking at something other than Max. She couldn't bring herself to look at him, not knowing if she would see that face for much longer.

The fight was at Midday, it ws currently 6am. She had to train and make sure her wolf was fighting fit. Max knew that it was his fault that she was here, and his fault alone. But he also knew that Lucinda was not who he thought, no normal werewolf would have been able to do something like this, but then he also knew that what he was thinking was so rare he didn't know why he was thinking it. He turned to Darley and continued to help train her. She was his, and she was not losing this on his watch, even if she didn't like the help she was fucking getting it. He knew, although she said she forgave him, it will take alot to fully earn her trust back.

Derek saw his son and his mate not on good terms, he knew why. And he had an inkling that Lucinda was something other then a werewolf but he also knew that his grandfather killed a witch, one that he thought was the last. But it can't be, Max would never have kissed someone who he knew be anything else, nothing else would've made his son break her trust like that. Derek also couldn't help but blame himself, if he wouldn't have left the living room he would have seen that it was not Darley, but not just that. If Derek, her Alpha, would not have been there then the call for a duel would have been thrown out. But, because he was there, it cannot. He cannot lie, it was a solid offer that was taken, it does not matter that she was not sound of mind. They are animals as well as people, and a fight is a fight.

As the Alpha of the pack it was hs job to laison with the other pack, which unfortunately meant that he would have to face Alex again. Grabbing his keys he went out to his car, ready to take the drive to the field where the fight was happening.

It took about a 10 minutes drive to get there, and when he did he wanted to vomit. He could smell the betryal of Alex, his childhood friend, from a mile away. He walked into the trees and saw the two huts where there would be the pack medic waiting for any injuries that may occur, they were made of wood and contained a bed and were being stocked up with medical supplies by the pack doctors. The pack doctors were tose that would deal with minor injuries so there wouldn't be hundreds of hospital journeys a day, Derek had a feeling this would end with a hospital admittanced and hoped to God it wasn't his future daughter in law.

Derek walked towards the man he now despised, the scent familiar but the person was very different.

"Derek, nice to see you." Alex said sarcastically, ever since Derek stopped his plan Alex had it out for him. He wanted him dead.
"Alex, how lovely of you to be here." Derek replied. The smile on Alex's smile faulted, he expected Derek to not be so nice.
"Well, my daughter today will earn her rightful place as Luna of your pack." Alex smile regained its intesnity, his green eyes flaring with excitment.
"Yes, shame that it will not happen." Derek was confident that Darley would win, but he knew Alex had something up his sleeve and Derek hoped to figure it out before the fight began. This did not sit well with Alex, he had lost once and refused to loose again.

Both the former allies walked around the field, making sure there was a complete perimeter of where the fight would take place, the rules and what happens if they lose, Lucinda leaves the pack alone, and Darley would have to give her Luna status up as that is what she is fighting for. Derek wasn't happy about it, but this is how the fights go. There has to be consequences for the loser.

Alex was happy, he wanted to power Derek had, he envied the fact that Derek had a great and respectable postion because he doesn't. Ever since he sent Lucinda in he lost the respect of his pack, and slowly they all moved on hence why he got involved with rogue wolves.

Alex didn't feel alot of things, and he did order the attack on Madeline but he did feel a bit bad the fact that she lost her baby, yes he was set to kill her but pregnant wolves are meant to be left alone but how was he to know? The rogue wolves have been repremanded as they heard them talking about it, and they didn't succeed. Someone saved Jake and Madeline, he doesn't know who though.

When he was done with Derek he went to his car and drove back to his house, part of this was fulled for revenge by his wife who found out that her grandmother was killed by Derek's grandfather for being a witch and they have wanted revenge for years, this is the perfect second opportunity that will end with his daughter becoming the Luna of the pack, with him running it behind the scenes as well as getting the revenge his wife desires.

Alex went outside where his daughter was training, he found her in silence punching a bag. He wasn't proud, she should be in her wolf form.

"Why are you not in your wolf form?" He shouted, she rolled her eyes and carried on.
"Answer me!" He thundered. She sighed and turned around.
"I don't want to do this dad." She said. He stalked up to her as though he was going to attack.
"Well you are, and I want the Luna dead no matter what you have to do. She dies." She nodded.

Lucinda did not want to kill Darley, she no longer wanted the same things that her father did, but she had to because she knew he would kill her if she didn't fight so she did as she was told.

"Good girl." And he walked away.

Lucinda faught off tears, she knew her father didn't care, her brother knew long ago and left in search of a new pack. His father disowned him, what he doesn't know is that she keeps in touch with him. They have been plotting for months how to get her to escape from Alex, until then she had to do as she was told which she did. At first she was a bad person, until she realised what her father was doing and heard about Madeline, she changed her mind. Darley was not going to die, but she would have to make her look like it.

"Lucinda." She heard from the forest, she changed and ran into the forest, deep into the forest where it was noones territory. She found him there, her brother.
"Today is the day." She nodded her big wolf head.
"We will escape together, I have found a new pack, and they are willing to accept you." She was excited other than one thing.
"I have found my mate." She told him.
"Good, he can come to." Her brother was happy.
"I don't know who he is though." He looked confused.
"We will find him, I have people at the fight, I cannot be there. The secret word is swimming. They will say you asre going swimming, then you know its my guy. You have to get yourself into the medical hut" She nodded, no one heard this, it was their telepathic conversation that only siblings have.
"No go, before father sees you." She sprinted back and started training again. She had to lose, it is the only way.

It was midday, the time the fight was happening.

Both packs had gathered, both routing for their person, Darley was ready but Max was not.

"I love you." He said. She hugged him, this was for their pack.
"I love you too." Then she went into the hut and changed in pivacy. Not many people had seen her wolf before, and they had never seen a Gold wolf before and the crowd went silent, some people knew how rare they were and couldn't believe it,

Lucinda too got some words.
"Fucking kill her." Alex said, then he left. No I love you or anything and her mother had hated her since she failed. She went to the hut and changed to her black wolf, pretty common colour.

There was no refree, no rules they will fight until one goes down. Derek was worried, Alex was excited and Max was angry that this could have happened. He was thankful Jake didn't know, he was very protective of his sister but he was at the hospital still.

Lucinda looked around and saw 4 people that she didn't know, they must be Bretts guys. He was true to his word.

"Don't kill her Lucinda." She heard, and knew he could see.

There was a horn, the fight had started.
