Chapter 9

Lucinda left the house, a smile on her face. She had them right where she wanted them, she wanted the duel so that she could kill the future Luna and take her place. She got home, her father waiting for her.
"Did she take the bait?" He asked. She smiled and nodded.
"Good, then once you become Luna then the plan that yoy fucked up can start again." He chuckled and walked away.

He never approved of anything she did, he has hated her since she messed up with Max. She knew they were never going to be mates, but he didn't. Once she realised she told her parents, but they only wanted the pack. They didn't want her happiness. So she got told to seduce him, to break the sacred rule. So she did. But it just fucked it all up, Derek knew what had happened. He knew what she really wanted, and managed to stop her before she and her parents could take over the pack.

Max and his family made her life a living hell, her father was not a kind man. So she set out to destroy them so she could escape one day, so her father could leave her alone. There was a different side to Lucinda, one she tries to bury but she will no longer bury it. She is a witch, it was very rare for a witch to be a werewolf as well, but her parents were mates so they knew that it was a possibility as her grandmother was a famous witch, who died while battling with a werewolf over her actions. And the werewolf, Max's grandparent. It was all connected in some way. So it was partly revenge, and envy that fuelled the fight.

Lucinda was filled with rage, and saddnes because she didn't want to destroy Max himself, she loved him. But she did want his family and his bloody mate dead.

'That girl', she thought. 'That girl took what was mine, what is mine. She took Max. I will never let her live for that fact, she will pay for taking him away from her. If I can't have Max, then nobody can.'

Lucinda knew that eventually she would find her mate and this would be over, but it was different for witches. They can fall in love with other people, and it won't disappear as soon as they meet their mate as it does for werewolves. She knew Max may have loved her, but when they kissed she knew that he would only ever love Darley, which means she needs to die for Lucinda to get her man.

She sat on her bed staring at the window, when she smelled something. Something that made her insides churn and her wolf happy. Shit, Lucinda has found her mate. She ran to the window to see where the scent was coming from. She saw a man, getting into a car. Then she opened the window, expecting him to know she was there. But he drove off.

Lucinda, she was happy and confused at why he drove off she knew she would still have to duel. But, her mate is out there. And now she has to find him.

Max rushed to his mates side, furious over what had just happened.

"Are you stupid?" He screamed, but she just looked at him and turned to get in her car. He ran after her and put his hand on the door, she is not getting away from him this time.
"I let you get away once Mate. It is not happening again." Max's voice changed, and Darley looked up to see that his eyes were the darkest she had ever seen them. Which means Dark had taken over.

When a werewolf gets so angry, but refuses to change their wolf can take over their body. Its two people living in one body, and you know when their wolf is coming out because their voice changes and their eyes are dark. Max has refused to change because it would give his mate an opportunity to out run him, so instead he has agreed to let Dark take over while Max calms down. Its a bit like good cop bad cop scenes in movies.

"Now, you are going to come inside willingly, or I am going to drag you in." He said, but Darley was stubborn and she didn't want to go, and Dark was not a patient wolf. He strided to her, and picked her up. She banged him with her fists, but he just growled at her to stop. She knew it was a lost battle and gave up, he carried her to Max's bedroom, slammed the door and threw her on the bed.

He paced up and down the floor, figuring which way was best for her to understand how stupid she was being and how dangerous Lucincda could be, but Dark had never really forgiven himself for the mistake that Max made, it was partly down to Dark as well. He looked up at his mate, she was sat on the bed looking as though she was going to cry. Dark walked to her, and he put his arms around her.

"I'm sorry, but you would have done the same in my position. If you saw me kissing another guy." She said, the worse part of that sentence as that it was all true. Actually, he would've not even duelled the guy would've been dead.
"But do you understand how crazy Lucinda is?" Dark knew that she didn't know the full story, but she could guess that she was nuts.
"Yes, but why did you kiss her. Well Max, but you know what I mean." Dark nodded. It was Max, but it was also him. He should have known.
"She looked like you, she smelled like you." He said.
"No she didn't, she did not have my scent nor did she look like me." Dark was confused. It hit him soon after.
"I was duped. She only looked that way to me. Shit." He was bewitched. But how?
"So, you really didn't know it was not me?" D asked, he shook his head.
"For Gods sake. And now I have gotta fight her." He nodded.
"Yup, your Alpha is a witness."

"Can you help me?" She asked him. He nodded.
"Of couse." Then he put his head down to meet hers in a kiss, an amazing kiss that led to him laying her down on the bed and he could feel her. Feel her perfect body, she was not thin. She had curves, which he loved. She had stretch marks on her stomach, but he loved them. He knew she hated her stomach so he made sure to kiss it, to let her know he didn't hate it. He made her feel loved and feel beautiful even though she didn't believe it herself. This was love was, making sure the other person knew their worth and knew how loved they were. Max and Dark made sure that she felt that. She wasn't ready to go too far just yet, and that was fine.

There may be a duel soon, but right now Darley was in cloud nine with her mate, and his wolf.
