Chapter 5

"There was an attack on your son and your daughter in law." Mum just fell back into my arms.
"What do you mean an attack."
"The pack, The Primal Pack, came onto our land and must have smelled the scent of an Alphas daughter and attacked the car they were driving in." Mum cried into my shoulder and I held her up.

There are other packs that come onto this land because they want the power of my pack, but to do this they have kill every wolf that the Alpha could pass their powers to. The Primal Pack and my pack, otherwise known as The Moon Shine pack were once allies, even friends. Alex and Derek had known each other as their fathers were both Alphas so they used to hang out together, they had kids around the same time but somewhere in the middle something happened to Alex and he no longer did what he was taught, he still has his pack but he also associates with Rogue wolves.

This pack has been an issue ever since Derek didn't want to go into business with the Alpha of The Primal Pack, Alex, because the business included allowing rogue wolves to shelter here. The issue with rogue wolves is that they have left their pack, they have noone to answer to and they do not listen to anything. They are horrible, have been known to set buildings on fire and rape women which a normal wolf wouldn't even think about doing. When Derek refused Alex made it his mission to try and take his pack away from him, which means that he has to kill anyone that Derek could pass his powers onto, which means that Max is now his top priority, and now so am I. When Derek dies the powers are automatically passed to the male, which is very patriarchal but it is how it is, but if Max dies then it will go to his sister, which is why Alex went for her first. But the Alphas can just pass it on without dying, which Derek is hoping to do, the man wants a retirement. This attack, it was a threat.

The world we live in is a different one, we have different sets of rules then humans. We cannot kill, unless under attack, we try and stay away from humans as much as possible, we will never attack one another or cheat on our mates. Rejecting ones mate isn't unheard of, but it is very very rare. It only tends to happen if they are with a human and already have a life, it doesn't kill a wolf to not have their mate, although it may make them a little less strong.

"Are they dead?" Hearing this the whole house comes over, Derek and Ashley come up to me and ask whats happened.
"Its Maddie and Jake, they have been attacked."
"Alex." He says, his eyes go black and the grip on his wifes shoulder tightens a tad.
"Hey, look at me." Derek looks at Ashley.
"Put your wolf back, that can come later. We need to worry about our daughter." He nods and his eyes lighten again.
"Officer, what is the situation." He took his glasses off and rubbed his eyes, this must not be easy to tell ones Alpha.
"Alpha, they were driving to this house and it seems as though they hit something, probably a wolf hiding. As Jake went to stop the car two other wolves came out of nowhere and smashed the windscreen, hitting your daughter in the face and dragging her out of the car. Jake must have seen this and jumped after them, because of him Maddie is still alive, but for Jake, it isn't so easy. Someone saw what was happening and jumped in to help, this person saved Jakes life." Mum collapsed into my dads arms.

So they aren't dead, but the officer doesn't know what state Jake is in. But we know he isn't dead. He offered us a lift, my parents and Max's parents took the lift but Max drove me, as his parents and mine are going to have to get back somehow.

"Are you okay?" Max asked.
"I'm okay, I mean it was a member of both of our families. I think its our right to be shook up." He nodded and continued to drive.

We got to the hospital and went to find Jake and Maddie, but mum and dad beat us to it. Jake was sat beside Madeline.

"What are you doing out of bed?" Mum scolded him, he turned to us and he looked rough.
"Making sure that my wife is still alive." He said back.
"Her wolf is fighting son." Dad said.
"Maybe, but they couln't save the baby." He almost whispered. Mums eyes filled with water, as did Ashleys. But dad and Derek's eyes darekened to a point they had to leave. When your eyes darken it means that their wolf is about to take over, and Derek and dad couldn't be stopped, so they had to go and run, probably hit a tree or two. Our mum stayed and so did Maddies, though I am sure they wanted to do the same thing.

"I'm so sorry Jake." I went over and put my arms around his shoulders in a sort of hug. He nodded.
"Whats next for Maddie?" I asked.
"She had a lot of head trauma, as well as losing the baby. A broken leg and dislocated shoulder. Even with her wolf helping, they have a long road ahead. Do you know that someone jumped out and saved us both?" He asked and finally turned to us. His eyes were swollen and his lip was split. His arm was in a cast as well as bruises everywhere.
"The police officer told us, do you know who it was?" Mum asked.
"No clue, but all I know is that he smelt a bit like you mum. Which is weird right?" He looked her her.
"Very, I was an only child."

They chatted a bit more, then a doctor came and told us we should go home.

"So whats next, with Alex and his pack." Max looked at me.
"There's something I need to tell you."
