Chapter 23

Max was in a state of pure panic, he knew if he didn't get out of these chains then his mate wouldn't live, and neither was he. He heard Jared and Rachel screaming at each other, and a large slap sounded. How could you ever intentionally hit your mate, Max thought as he continued to listen.

The large basement had no windows, no air pockets, no vents nothing. Only that one door. So he bided his time, about an hour later his ears perked up, he could hear her. Her footsteps, her beautiful voice, though he was slightly annoyed she knew she was going to be in danger but came anyway he was also glad. He heard three other sets of footsteps and knew who she had called upon to help her.

He smelled the poison which was on his cuffs, but knew if he didn't break free she would die, it was worth the pain, but he had to wait until Jared was out of the building and Rachel was busy, he was going to be weakened by the poison, but his wolf would be there to pick up the pieces.

However, the posion was sarting to get worse, and Max realised it was filling the room he was in, and making it unbearable, he knew this was how he was to die if he didn't fight through it and get up, once he eard the doors open thats just what he did.

He stood up, the fog as like a green colour was surrounding the room, and he pulled. The skin on his wrists screamed in pain, but he didnt care. He closed his eyes, and he pulled again, skin was ripping from his wrisits as he did so but after a few minutes the chains fell, but his hands and wrists were badly wounded.

"I can't take over." Dark said, Max knew the poison was strong, if he changed Dark would die.
"I know, don't worry." Max said, Dark nodded and instead he helped Max with the pain, he couldn't fix it but he could try and take some of it away so he could save their mate.

Max heard a commotion from the room above, he knew something was happening, but he didn't know what. Then he heard someone coming down the stairs, he hid behind where the door was open, he couldn't smell anything and he knew that this could be Jared seeing if he was dead. He was ready.

The door slammed open, and someone came through. She looked around, then fell to the ground.

Darley had come, she came to save him from the torment of his best friend at her own peril, not even knowing if he was down here, he loved her more for that, and knew she was going to be the perfect Luna to his pack.

He bent down, his joints screaming and picked her up, he ignored the pain he felt, he knew they had to get out of there, so he got her and ran up the stairs, as he did he noticed that she had a bulging wound on her shoulder that looked very deep, then he wa;lked past someone on the ground. He looked down, it was Rachel. He clsoed his eyes, he knew what she had done but it makes him sad, knowing her parents and he will have to tell them what had happend to their little girl. But he also knew he had to get out of the building, so he ran straight for the exit. He burst through the doors and breathed in the fresh air, until he realised what was happening.

Jared was being held by Lucinda in the air, and Gordon and Jessie were stood around her, however it was the other wolves he was worried about.

Lucindas old pack had joined in with the fight.

Max wasn't noticed yet, which was good. He had to make sure Darley was put somewhere safe, somewhere where noone would hurt her, he ran to the back of the building, and put her down, thankfully it was well hidden, and she should be able to ecover while he deals with his deadbeat of a best friend, he kissed her head and went back to the fight.

"Come any closer, and I will kill him." Lucinda shouted to the pack. She was keeping her concentration, as long as she kept eye contact she had Jared all to herself. Jessie and Gordon surrounded her, keeping her safe.

"KIll them." Jared shouted. The pack didn't move.

"Do as he says." Another voice shouted. Lucinda broke eye contact, the shield broke, Jared ran away.

She couldn't believe her own father, but if thats how he wants it.

"Bring it old man."

The pack moved, and ran towards them all.

Lucinda roundhouse kicked her father, he was the one she wanted dead.

"You controlled me my whole life, now its my turn." He was strong, but her magic was stronger, she picked him up and threw him at a rock, he hit it hard but not hard enough.

"Is that all you have child." He ran to her, dodging all of the magic she threw towards him, his wolf wouldn't come out he knew his wolf would never hurt their daughter, but he would.

He got to her, picked her up and dropped her to the ground, the motion sent her head spinning and she knew her arm had broken.

But she got up, her nose bloody and one arm out of action.

"The probelm with you father, you never noticed what was right in front of you." Then a shot rang out, the whole fight stopped, Alex was dead. HIs head still bleeding, and he had a smile on his face.

She turned to look at her mate, who actaully was a hunter, funny how things work out. She looked at the pack who where left over.

"You are my pack now, I am your Alpha." They stood in formation.

"Go find Jared, and kill him." Then they all ran.

Jared had ran towards Max, unknowingly as he tried to escape Lucindas magic. As he ran by the hiding spot, ax put his arm out and chocked him.

"Did you really think you'd get away with this." He said, Jared was starting to be afriad, noemally he had the upper hand.

Max leaned closer to his ear.

"I knew you wouldn't." Then, he snapped his neck. Jared fell, and was dead. It was over.

Jared was down, noone was out to get them anymore. He heard footsteps come over, but he was too tired to see who it was.

"Lucinda, hes dying." Someone shouted, dying. Well, he never realised it would be quite like this, peaceful.

"Don't you die on me boy." Someone said, and they put their hands on him, life was being given back and he loved it.

"Darley, how are you doing that?" Someone asked.

"I don't know, it just happened."

Max was being lifted up, his arms out then light shone from him, as if he was being reborn. He was alive.
