Chapter 26

I dusted the book and we both started to read.
It contains history of werewolves and vampires.
"What's my business with this? Zoe and Stella are still locked in." I yelled.
"Be patient Sam." He said calmly.
We continued to read on and Payne yelled.
"See this." He pointed at a place in the book.
"Vampires can live long if an impure werewolf gives them their blood." He read aloud.
"Who are impure blood?" I asked.
"That's the next thing we need to find out." He pursed his lips.
"I'm tired of all these. There's always a problem whenever we feel we have the solution." I said.
"Then stop feeling like we have the solution." He said.
"Let's just go back." I said and he agreed.
We carried the book and went back to the other world.
We went back and opened the door. Zoe was fast asleep and Stella put he index finger on lips.
We both tiptoed and sat down in the living room,waiting for Zoe to wake up.
"Do you know who Zoe's parent are?" Payne asked breaking the silence.
"Guy,do you have a thing for breaking the silence?" I asked.
"I don't know who Zoe's parent are. I met her when she was about 12 or 13 years and my parents took her in." Stella answered.
"She never for once talked about her parents or how much she misses them?" Payne asked again.
"No. She doesn't even remember how they look like." Stella added.
"Wow!" Payne exclaimed.
"The only thing she really talks about and values is her pendant. That moon pendant. She doesn't even let me touch it. Maybe she got it from her parent." Stella said.

"True. That pendant looks rare." I said.
"There are so many mysteries about Zoe that need to be uncovered." Payne said.
"And it's so confusing." I added.
"The only thing that could help us now is to know who her real parents are. These hallucinations are scaring me too." Stella said.

Zoe turned and woke up. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and yawned loudly.
She walked to the living roomand gave me a death glare.
"I'm sorry." I apologized. She went back into the room and I followed her.
"You locked me in." She yelled.
"To look for a solution." I added.
"I told you I was scared. I told you the creature might come for me." She yelled again.
"I'm sorry. I went to search for answers as to why you'd be having crazy dreams and hallucinations." I explained calmly.
"Did you later find answers?" She asked.
"There would be a solution if we know who your parents are." I said.
Her expression changed suddenly and a drop of tear fell from her eyes. i felt really bad. I moved close to her but more tears began to drop.
"I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm sorry but that's the truth." I said.
"Its not your fault. Don't worry I'll try to remember who they are." She said.
"Don't just stress too much. Won't you go to school today?" I asked.
"No. I'll skip class." She said.
"I'll get going to shop now." I said and she hugged me.



We were going to the coffee shop but we were already late for our shift and we didn't even have money to take a moving machine. We decided to take some shortcut Payne knew well. We passed through an alley and we heard a girl's voice screaming for help. Some guys snatched her bag from her and were bullying her. They were all in baggy trouser. All three of them wore a shirt but one wore a white singlet.
"Stop?" I ordered.
"Just move from here. Its none of your business." The guy on singlet spoke.
"And what If I don't?" I asked.
They stopped bullying the girl and moved close to me. I punched the guy in singlet on his face and he fell down. His nose broke immediately and his other team mates ran away leaving him.
"You are crazy." He struggled to stand up then he ran away.
The girl walked up to me. "Thank you very much. My name is Amelia." She said. She was a Blondie with tiny eyes. She was a slender tall girl. She was in some kind of skirt and shirt and a bag hung on her shoulder.
"You're welcome." I said and walked ahead with Payne. I turned back and this girl kept following us.
"What do you want?" I stopped to asked after turning several times to find her still following.
"Nothing. Those guys might come after me again." She said.
"Well go home." I said.
"No. I want to follow you and this gentle young man." She looked at Payne.
"Another Stella." I chuckled.
"What?" She asked.
"Never mind."
She held my arm and we all walked to the coffee shop.
"Such a pest. Will you go now?" I asked.
"Yes. I now know where you work. whenever I'm in trouble I'll come here." She said and left.

"Trouble after trouble." We went in and did our shift.


It was night already and we went home and I saw the Anderson guy outside Eleanor's house.
I and Payne walked up to him.
"What do you want?" I yelled.
"Hand over Zoe to me and I won't attack Moondor." He commanded.
"The audacity." Payne scoffed.
"What's your deal with Zoe?" I asked.
"Its none of your business. All I need is Zoe." He said.
"You think I'll just give her to you easily?"
"I know you'll be stubborn about it. I have my men watching over Moondor by now. I could destroy the whole of your empire in one night." He bragged.
"You wish you guy." I said.
"Leave or we would decapitate you and the innocent guy you've taken over his soul." Payne threatened.

"I would leave but you should face the consequences." He said and left.
"Zoe is no longer safe." I said.
Amelia came "Now I know your house." Her voice made me turn.
"You again?"
"Yes,me again." She said.
"Now I know your house. Let's go in." She said and walked in.
"You've gotten another problem Sam." Payne said and walked in.
"What's your name?" She asked and sat down.
"I'm Payne and he's Sam." Payne answered.
Eleanor walked downstairs and Amelia ran to greet her.
"Good evening grandma." She greeted.
"Good evening and who are you?" Eleanor asked and looked at I and Payne.
"I'm Amelia. Sam saved my life today." She answered and smiled brightly.
"That's nice Sam." Eleanor.
I looked at my side and Payne was no longer there.
He was in the kitchen rinsing the pot and bringing out ingredients.
Eleanor walked to the kitchen. " I knew you'd be here." SHe opened a long rectangular box and behold a bright yellow light shone.
I and Payne looked in amusement. Another beautiful thing to behold in this world.
She brought out some ingredients and water in a bottle. I walked up to her and collected it. it was really cold. I passed it to Payne he felt how cold it was.
He drank from it and passed it back to me. I also drank from it.
"How was this designed?" I asked myself.
"Pass it to me too." Amelia said.
"No."
