Chapter 14
Mia's POV
No sooner than Michael agreed to come with me,everything started spinning and swirling. I gripped onto him out of instinct and closed my eyes tightly. It must have only lasted a few seconds before I felt solid ground beneath my feet and a sharp light on my eyelids. I didn't want to open my eyes yet, it was nice in Michael's embrace. He smelt of wood and nature with a small hint of dirt. *Oi quit being all gooey and look where we are.* I heard Dalton say in my head and felt his eyes roll.
I opened my eyes gingerly and was met with a sight of so much greenery. Massive bushes that had been trimmed into unusual swirling shapes surrounded us. The sound of water met my ears from a nearby fountain that stood in a vast pond with a little wooden bridge to cross over. The sky was a shade of blue I had only ever read about in books from before vampires took over and I counted 2 sun's burning above in shades of orange and red. The garden was absolutely breathtaking. Even the 10 foot marble wall that surrounded it was plated in gold.
"Welcome home Mia." Serena said and I turned to look at her in amazement. This is my home? "We've been waiting for you for quite a while. Time moves slower on Earth than it does here. 16 years on Earth is nearly 640 years here. We couldn't have come to get you sooner because we didn't know where you were. Once Dalton became active we were able to track you down." she smiled. "speaking of, let's head inside so we can make a formal introduction of Dalton. I'm sure he's dying to get his own body back."
*I have a body?* Dalton questioned though it seemed more to himself as if it was something he had forgotten about.
"Dalton's body?" I asked as we followed her across the wooden bridge towards a huge manor.
"Oh yes all our entities have a body of their own here. Dalton is one of the oldest entities in the realm. Given to you as a present at birth as a protector and when you were sent to Earth he insisted on going with you. He knew his body wouldn't survive the trip so he decided to leave it and become an attachment instead so he could still protect you and survive on Earth. made us promise to be extra careful with his body or he'd kill whoever harmed him." Serena laughed. "he was very particular about his hair back then."
"do you remember any of this Dalton?" I asked him and I felt him shrug.
*none of it though it does sound like something I'd say. hope my hair looks good after 640 years*
I giggled a bit as we went down a lot of twisting corridors until eventually we ended up outside what appeared to be a dungeon room. Serena unlocked it and as soon as we stepped inside lights sprung up everywhere, illuminating the room. Shelves upon shelves littered the walls all stocked with strong smelling herbs and jars that had things in them I didn't want to know the answer to. A huge fireplace stood with a cauldron on it and a small fire blazing beneath it. Deep red rugs covered the stone floor and it felt very homely considering it was a dungeon.
"Welcome to my quarters of the palace. I'm the royal physician and witch. I actually uphold the magic to the whole northern section of the realm. There are 3 other witches that uphold the magic on their side but I am the eldest and most powerful. First things first we need to sort out your...friends dietary requirements." She cleared her throat and gave a small side eye at Michael before pulling herbs off the shelves and throwing them in the pot.
"What do you mean by that exactly?" Michael said and folded his arms.
"Look regardless on if you drink animal over human you are still a blood drinker and we can't allow a blood drinker to live here so I'm going to make a potion that will allow you to keep your vampire abilities without the need to drink blood of any kind. you'll get your sustenance from regular food like the rest of us but still remain fast, strong and immortal."
"I will have a human diet?" Michael said in shock.
"Essentially yes." Serena muttered a few words and a large poof of smoke came out the pot. "Drink this and never need blood again." she passed him a goblet filled with a thick red potion from the pot and Michael took it wearily.
He sniffed it and pulled a face before downing it in one. It looked revolting and he gagged as he drank it. He hunched over in pain grabbing his stomach.
"Are you alright?" I asked him and rushed to put my hand on his back.
"Give him a moment the potion is changing his insides. I probably should have mentioned that it'll be painful but he'll heal." Serena shrugged not really caring and I thought I saw a slight smirk on her face. She really doesn't seem to like Michael.
"Now then let's get on with why we are here and get Dalton put back in his body."
