a new life

Mia's POV
The alarm woke me up and the first thing I registered was Michael's arm around me. I smiled as I remembered all the events from last night. How it felt to be with Michael, feel his lips on mine, how gentle he was and how much I loved him.
The sound of his breathing let me know that he was still asleep and I didn't want to wake him. I lay in his arms and just lived in the moment.
I looked at my hand and looked at the ring on my finger. The ring that represents everything.
Michael moved behind me and I turned around to face him in his arms. I smiled at how cute he looked in the morning with his hair all sticking up.
"Good morning." He said and opened his eyes smiling. He pulled me closer and I lay my head on his chest. "You're so beautiful." He wraps his arms around me and I hugged him.
"So are you." I giggled and felt his hand run through my hair. "Don't go to the guard today. I want to spend all day with you." I say as I trace a pattern on his chest.
"Ooh do I not go to work and get in trouble with the boss so I can spend the day with my loving fiancee?" He joked and chuckled.
"Like the head guard can do anything I'm the Queen and I say I want my sexy fiance to be with me." I look up and kiss him and he puts his head on the back of my head kissing me back.
"Well I can't say no to the Queen." He says and kisses me more deeply.
This is going to be good.

It was past 12 when Michael and I finally decided to get up. I watched him get dressed before I took my shower and dried off. He was lying on the bed and had opened the curtains when I walked back in.
It was very bright outside and it was warm. I went and stood on the balcony and looked out across the palace wall to the kingdom that stretched for miles. Michael walked over to me and put his arms around me and leant his chin on my head.
"Its so beautiful here." I said as I looked out across the gardens and I saw my parents monument.
"Yes it is. And you are the most beautiful queen to rule over it." He said and sighed happily.
"And you will be the most handsome king this world has ever seen." I turned in his arms. "Come on let's go eat."
We walked down the hall hand in hand and got a few looks from staff that passed us. Michael mostly as he was in jeans and a T-shirt instead of his guard uniform. When we turned the corner we saw the head guard.
He looked at Michael and stormed over to him. "What the fuck do you think your doing? You don't get to pick and choose when you show up for work. If you are going to make it in this palace you better learn your place!" He spat and didn't seem to notice me.
"Ehem." I cleared me throat and the guard looked at me and then straightened up.
"Your highness I do apologize for my attitude in your presence. I was just reminding the guard that he should be on duty." He said and I saw him glare at Michael.
"I'm quite aware that Michael should be on duty but I told him not to go." I said and I saw the boss's face drop.
"Oh I didn't know he had permission to stay off I wasn't informed." He said.
"I didn't let anyone know now if you don't mind we would like to go to lunch. And next time you have a problem with my fiance perhaps you should talk to me."
"Oh... I um... " he stammered and I walked straight past him with Michael following.
"I cannot believe you just said that." He laughed as soon as we were out of earshot.
"Well I want people to know that they are now talking to their king instead of treating you as less. Your my world and I want you to be treated as such." I said and I squeezed his hand.
When we got to the throne room I saw Sabrina. She had a small group of people with her and I could tell they were important.
"Good afternoon your Majesty I'd like you to meet the council members. They watch over the kingdom and any new ideas for how the kingdom is run comes from them to you." Sabrina said and I shook each members hand.
"Sabrina I'd like to talk to you about an announcement that is to be made across the whole kingdom." I said and looked up at Michael who smiled and squeezed my hand. "Michael and I are engaged."
Sabrina looked really shocked and so did the council members. Then she broke into a smile and hugged us both which caught us both by surprise.
"Of course I will send out the word to the kingdom and I will get the palace wedding organisers together. It has been so long since we have had a royal wedding. This will be the best event ever." She squealed a little and it reminded me off what teenage girls would do outside the pet shop when they got excited. Vampire teenagers were always very well off and only once did one of them come into the shop and got a pet for their birthday.
I smiled at Sabrina's reaction and we left her to do all the planning.
"Well I guess its now completely official. I can't wait for you to be my wife." Michael said as we went to the kitchens to get lunch.
"And I can't wait for you to be my husband." I said.
This is going to be great and its the start of my new life. Everything from my old life seems so distant. Even Dalton no longer feels like he's close.
I wonder what Dalton is up to and if I'll ever see him again.
