Chapter 18

Mia's POV
Things have been going really well at the house. Michael and I may be on the wanted list but as no one knows who Dalton is he's gone out of his way to make sure that we always have food and he got everything we needed to make this our home.
I'm happy being Michael's pet and he's really nice to me. I found out that Dalton was my twin brother which shocked me but he explained how the doctors told him that he'd been born still and instead of passing over he latched onto me.
It wasn't unheard of but it was rare and we are called entities because of it. Years ago the injection had been invented to split entities apart but the vampires didn't know it split them they thought it killed them.
Instead the entity is driven out and a lab specified in entities has a machine that can capture the entity and from the machine a body can be made for the entity to live in. Most entities are spirits that have already lived and passed but have manger to break into our world. In Dalton's case he just never passed over.
The only reason I didn't know he was there was because when he attached himself to me he was too weak to do anything as he was only a baby when he died. As I grew so did he but even then he never got the power he needed to be seen until I was exposed to a lot of energy from the shock treatment.
It was cool now that I could properly see him and we figured that we could talk to each other telepathically still and when we wanted to we both had powers that we could use. Though we only used them for fun now.
We've been living in this house for 6 months now and everyday there's something new to do. We have new furniture and Dalton and I found out that we could put a shield over the house with our powers so we aren't seen.
At first it was only around the house but now we have expanded it so I could have a garden to decorate. At night Michael will light a fire in the back and all 3 of us would just look at the stars. It was nice being here and not being seen.
Derrick and the police must have passed straight past the house a thousand times while looking for us and at one point they go very close to the edge of the shield but luckily they didn't step into it.
I like to sit and watch them search for us on days that are slow while I'm planting my flowers around the door or painting the porch. The shield is sound proof too so they never hear us.
Tonight was a really nice night outside. The moon was full and there were some shooting stars as we all sat around the fire like normal. Only this time Michael had put his arm around me and I snuggled into his chest. Dalton smiled at us and said a snarky comment in my mind that I tried not to laugh at.
"Thank you for saving us Dalton. I know I say it a lot but I mean it." Michael said as we sat listening to the fire crackle.
"I'm glad I did. You two look very happy to be reunited. As Mia's older brother I will say that if you get with my sister be warned that I will hurt you if you hurt her." Dalton grinned and I choked on my drink.
"I'll keep that in mind. On that note Mia would you like to be my girlfriend?" Michael asked and looked at me with his blue eyes as he cupped my face. "I love you Mia. I tried to hide it as I'm a vampire and its against the law but out here the only laws we have are the ones we make." Michael said and I felt my heart melt.
"I'd love to be Michael." I whispered and I leaned in to kiss him with tears dripping down my cheek. He returned my kiss putting his hand on the back of my head and without a word he lifted me up so I had to wrap my legs around his waist and carried me inside and up to his room.
Dalton's POV
I'm happy for my sister that she has Michael and I love it out here but I can't help but feel alone. There's this girl I've seen during my trips into town and she looks so cute. I know she's a vampire as none of the humans are allowed to be unowned in that town luckily I can do things no other human can do so I haven't Bern caught out yet.
Maybe next time I see her I could ask her out. I know she likes me too as I heard her thoughts when I first saw her. She likes my smile and finds me attractive which is a good sign but would she want to come and be with me? If she knew I was hiding the most wanted people in the country I doubt she would even bat and eyelid before turning us all in.
I can't risk losing Mia and Michael but I wanted to be with that beautiful girl. To feel her red lips on mine and to run my hand through her blonde hair.
That's it. Its final. Next time I see her I'm going to ask her out and I will bring her back here. If she threatens to tell I could just keep her here until she changes her mind but I can't go without her.
If Mia gets to have Michael then I will have the hot vampire girl.
