Chapter 6

Mia's POV
I woke up after what felt like hours and I looked around me trying to remember what was happening. I noticed that its dark outside and I realize we are in the car. Master is on his phone and isn't paying any attention to me but that's good I suppose as it means I can think and have time to myself.
I'm not sure what to think on what's happening to me. I want to get better as I don't like keeping Master awake at night but I'm scared to death of this hospital place. Master says its nothing to worry about but still it's a new place full of vampires and not all of them are as nice as Master is.
I felt a hand on my head and looked up to see Master was now off the phone and I leaned into his touch. We didn't say a word just sat in silence for ages.
The driver lowered the small window that separated him from us and said something low to Master who nodded back and reached for my leash.
"OK pet we're here now. It's a very expensive and posh place so I'm hoping they'll be able to help you. It is 6 hours away from home and I won't be allowed to stay with you in the hospital however there is a hotel I'm booked into below the hospital for pet owners to stay in. You'll notice this place is really out of the way. There's nothing for miles and for good reason so please stay within the facilities I do t want you to get lost." Master spoke softly to me still petting my head as he clipped on my leash.
I nodded to let him know I understood and tried to calm my shaking as the car slowly stopped and the door opened. I stepped out into the night air and shivered wrapping my arms around myself. I was in a simple white dress with pumps and the November air was really fresh.
I hurried to keep up as we entered the huge building. I didn't look around much as I was just trying to get into the warm but from what I could see it was at least 5 stories high and Master mentioned that it ran underground too.
The inside was very clean and bright. Everything was white except for the random potted plants that were in every corner and by ever door. I saw lots of vampires with there pets. Some pets were on leashes like me others had harnesses around their chests and some didn't even have on collars they just sat by their owners smugly.
"Posh totties." I heard Master mumble under his breath at one lady who's pet was very well groomed. She didn't have a collar or a harness, her blonde hair was all styled and she wore clothes that looked as if they cost more than the mansion Master lived in. The vampire looked up as Master and I past and scowled at Master's comment and then her eyes fell on me and I instantly cowered away and closer to Master.
When we got to the front desk Master signed us in. Everyone spoke a strange language and Master was able to respond in the same language. I had heard it around the mansion from guests and occasionally when Master gets a phone call.
I followed Master to the waiting seats and tried to sit as far from the posh woman as possible. I went to sit on the floor when Master grabbed my wrist snd I looked at him confused.
"No no pet sit on my lap I want people to know that you are better than they are. Their pets may be trained to not need collars or a harness but you are special enough to sit on my lap rather than on the floor. Besides you'll freeze down there." Master lifted me onto his lap and I snuggled into his chest. I knew the floors were specially heated for the pets to sit on but Master's chest was a lot nicer.
I risked a small glance at the posh lady and I saw her face screwed up in disgust at mine and Master's display. She clearly didn't approve of our lack of professionalism.
Master chuckled slightly and whispered in my ear. "Don't think we're gonna be friends with those 2 any time soon." Which made me giggle and relax a little.
I don't know how long we were waiting before someone came over to us and spoke the strange language again. I did recognise the motion they made and knew they wanted us to follow them. I went to get down but Master stood up before I could, holding me in his arms.
I gave a small squeak out of surprise and put my arms round his neck as he chuckled again and started walking with the nurse.
Just before we went though the double doors I looked back once again at the posh lady and saw her pet looking at me almost jealous of the attention I was getting before going back to being the model of perfection for her owner.
As the double doors swung shut I gulped and the fear made its way back though my body. This was it. No turning back now.
I barely noticed though my fear that Master had put me down on a bed in a sterile room. I heard him talking yo the nurse but it sounded so distant and blurred. My breathing was increasing and my eyes watering. I made out the words "the doctor will be right in" before I gave in to the darkness and fear that had threatened to take over and everything went dark and cold.
