Chapter 37: I Don’t Share
ETHAN
I walked down the stairs and saw them standing on the street, next to what I assumed was his car. I approached. Her back was turned, and she only noticed me when Anthony, looking over his shoulder, stared at me.
When her eyes met mine, she frowned, and her lips tightened in irritation.
"Mr. Morgan?" She tried to feign calmness.
"Sorry to interrupt. I need to speak with you, Miss Brown."
"Is it urgent?" she asked through gritted teeth.
"Consider it a life or death matter." I forced a smile, hoping she would understand the threat behind my words.
"Fine," she said, turning her attention back to him. "We’ll talk later?"
"Of course." The idiot smiled at her before stepping closer, making every muscle in my body tense with anticipation.
He kissed her on the cheek before backing away and getting into the car. I was clenching my fists so tightly I didn’t know what I would have done if he had kissed her on the lips.
As the car drove off, she turned to me, anger flashing in her eyes. If she thought she had the right to be mad, how the hell should I feel? Anger didn’t even come close to what was boiling inside me.
"What do you want?" she asked through gritted teeth, crossing her arms over her chest, assuming her usual combative stance.
"What do I want?" A nervous laugh escaped my lips.
I took a deep breath before stepping closer and grabbing her wrist, pulling her toward my car.
"What the hell do you think you’re doing?" She tried to pull away, but I didn’t let her go, forcing her to keep walking. "Stop! Are you out of your mind?"
"We’re going to talk," I said through clenched teeth.
"We have nothing to talk about."
"Oh, we definitely do."
"No!"
As we neared my car, I opened the back door.
"Get in," I ordered, watching her shocked expression.
I was completely out of control, driven by pure rage.
"No! Let me go. What do you think you’re doing?"
"Get in!" I demanded.
"You don’t have that right," she said, snapping a bit of sense back into me.
Shit. She was right. I was acting like a caveman. Fuck. This wasn’t me, but she was making me act like this. Like an animal. I let go of her arm and shut the door, taking deep breaths as I tried to calm down.
"I’m sorry."
"You’ve got to be kidding me," she looked at me, confused and shocked.
"Don’t act like this wasn’t partly your fault too."
"My fault?"
"You agreed to bring him here just to spend the entire night provoking me."
"Oh my God! Do you think I did all this because of you? You’re such an arrogant asshole!"
"There’s no way you’re actually interested in him."
"Do you hear yourself? What makes you think you have the right?"
Shit! I knew I didn’t have the right to act like a jealous maniac or to stop her if she wanted to be with someone else. Sleeping together twice didn’t give me the right to behave this way, but I couldn’t control myself.
I couldn’t be rational because the mere thought of another man touching her was enough to drive me insane. She was mine. And I needed to touch her. Like this need was killing me, making me lose my mind.
I closed the distance between us, grabbing her by the waist. I spun us around and pressed her against my car, crushing her breasts against my chest as I slammed my lips onto hers.
I poured all my anger into the kiss, and I felt her do the same, tugging at my hair. Her tongue responded to mine, and the kiss turned urgent and violent, my hands roaming over her body, feeling every curve beneath my fingers.
I wanted to rip off her dress and fuck her right there, not caring that we were on the street. She moaned into my mouth as I bent my knees just enough to rub my cock between her legs, completely losing any sense of control.
I lifted her dress enough to slip my hand under her panties, sliding a finger inside her. Fuck. She was drenched.
Moaning with her eyes closed, she pulled her lips from mine, letting her head fall back. I took the opportunity to kiss and lick the skin of her neck as I moved my finger inside her.
"Oh my God!" she moaned desperately.
I needed to bury myself in her right then. I reached for the car door, fumbling with the handle with my free hand. When she realized I was opening the door, her eyes met mine.
"Stop," she said, breathless.
"I can’t," I confessed.
"I’m not doing this again." She pushed my hand away.
"Ellie..."
"No."
"Please." I rested my forehead against hers, looking into her eyes, cupping her face with my hands.
She was making me beg, and I would do it as many times as necessary if it meant she’d let me keep touching her.
"I can’t. This isn’t good for me," she said, her tormented gaze locked on mine.
"We both know it is."
"I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about whatever this is between us. I don’t want this."
"That’s a lie. Your body’s begging for me."
"That doesn’t matter. I’m not cut out for this. I won’t be your plaything." She pushed my hands away from her face and tried to push my body back, shoving at my chest, but I didn’t let her. I placed my hands on the car on either side of her head, trapping her body.
"You know he’ll never make you feel like this."
"You’re wrong. Unlike you, he can offer me more than just sex."
"No," I shook my head. "Not what we have... Just... let’s keep enjoying this."
I wanted to convince her that this was what she needed. That she just needed me.
"What are you saying?" Her brows furrowed in confusion.
"That I want to keep enjoying what we have."
"I can’t believe this... Are you seriously saying you just want to keep having sex with me?"
"We don’t need to complicate things."
She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, and when she opened them again, they were burning with fury.
"Get away from me," she said through gritted teeth.
"Ellie..."
"I said get away from me!" she growled.
I stepped back, not wanting to push her further.
"Listen to me! There’s no way I’m accepting this bullshit you’re offering. So don’t come looking for me again." She clenched her fists at her sides.
I searched for words to convince her, but I couldn’t find any. I couldn’t offer her what she thought she needed.
"Did you hear me?" she asked, her voice firm. "Say something so I know you understood."
I nodded, accepting that there was nothing I could do to change her mind. Then she turned her back on me, walking back toward the house, her heels clicking loudly on the pavement as she stomped away.
