11. VANYA: ALL MY FAULT

My heart was beating so fast in my chest that I feared that I was going to have a heart attack. I had recognized Devrim when he stepped around the corner but Obsidian clearly hadn’t.
A shudder raced down my spine as I thought of what could have happened if Obsidian hadn’t recognized Devrim in time. I took a step towards Obsidian, needing to be closer to him. Silky soft fur brushed my leg and surprisingly Obsidian didn’t step away, he turned and rubbed his big body against my legs. A deep purr rumbled from his chest but it instantly turned into a growl when Ezra took a step forward.
Frowning, Devrim sat up and glanced between us. My eyes dropped to his chest where the blood soaked his shirt. Obsidian must’ve gotten him with his claws but it didn’t seem to be bothering Devrim.
“What happened?” he asked.
I flinched when Obsidian shifted back to human. Within a few seconds he was naked and crouched in front of me and breathing heavily.
Reaching out, I pressed my palm to his warm sweat coated skin. His body tensed. Muscles shifted beneath his skin as he rolled his shoulders.
“Vanya, don’t touch him!” Ezra hissed at me.
I knew that I should listen to him but the urge to be close to Obsidian overrode all logical thoughts. Dropping to my knees, I curled around his back and pressed my cheek to his shoulder blade. Another rumble fell from his chest.
I thought that once Joy was gone we wouldn’t have to worry about any more danger but clearly I had been wrong. Their own pride was turning against them because of me.
Because of my father.
I shouldn’t have come back. But if I had stayed away Obsidian wouldn’t have gotten better. I ruined everything!
Fingers brushed through my hair, snapping me out of my thoughts. I realized with a shock that I was silently crying. The hand disappeared from my hair and dropped to my thigh. I tensed, waiting for him to push me away, but he did the opposite.
As Obsidian sat up, he pulled me onto his lap. I immediately wrapped myself around him. He nuzzled my cheek and let out a purr.
“What happened?” Devrim growled, sounding closer than he had been before.
“I swear if you hurt her again I’m—”
“You’re going to what?” Obsidian growled. “Kill me?”
I flinched.
“I’m sorry,” he rasped against my ear.
“Can you just fucking tell me what happened?” Devrim exploded.
“She was attacked,” Obsidian snarled, “by pride. They were planning on killing her.”
One of them roared. Obsidian’s hold tightened painfully.
“Where?” came the animalistic snarl.
“The basement.”
There was a moment of tense silence before all of them were moving. Devrim and Ezra rushed past us and stormed into the basement as Obsidian got to his feet.
I held my breath as I waited for their reactions, but Obsidian pulled my attention back to him.
One of Obsidian’s hands slide up my back and into my hair where he started massaging my scalp with his fingertips. I sighed, relaxing more when he started purring again. Turning my head, I pressed my lips to his skin. The purring paused for a few seconds before it continued. I parted my lips and tasted his skin with the tip of my tongue.
A moan fell from my lips.
He took two steps forward and then my back was pressed to the wall at the same time as his hands slid down to grip my ass. I hesitated a moment before I leaned back to look at him.
Our eyes locked.
I squeezed his shoulders and slowly started to slide my hands lower. My fingertips brushed over the raised skin underneath the dark tattoos. His purring has stopped by the time I reached his chest. Obsidian’s eyes narrowed the warning clear in his dark gaze.
“Vanya,” he growled.
I circled his nipples with my thumb, my eyes locked intently on his face to take in his reaction. His lips had parted, revealing the sharp tips of his canines, and it looked like he wasn’t breathing at all. I slipped one hand a few inches lower and when he did nothing, I repeated the action with the other.
Swallowing, I traced his abs with my fingertips before I scratched his skin lightly with my nails. His big body trembled. Obsidian blew out a breath when my fingers wrapped around his hard cock.
“Make me forget,” I whispered as I stroked him. “I don’t want to think.”
His eyes darted over my face. “I need to get answers from the pup. Dev and Ezra can’t do that.”
“You promised.” I swiped my thumb across the head of his cock to gather the pre-cum. “You said that that I’ll have your full attention once they—”
“You’ll have it,” he rasped. “Just not now.”
I stilled. Obsidian leaned forward but I turned my head so his lips connected with my cheek instead. He froze. Pressing my hands to his chest, I pushed at the same time as I loosened my legs, but he didn’t move away.
He pressed kisses along my jaw until he reached my ear. “I know that Dev explained things to you. I’m barely holding on, sweets. If I bury my cock in your warm pussy, I won’t be leaving it. You have no fucking idea how hard it is for me to walk away. I want you, Vanya. I want to fuck you and mark you every fucking way I can. I want to fuck you for hours. I want you to take my knot while I shoot my seed deep into your body.” He nipped my skin with his sharp teeth. “And I’ll do it all, but not now.”
“I want you to fuck me,” I moaned, breathless and wet from his words.
His cock jerked against my stomach. “No.”
“Please,” I begged, arching my body against his.
Obsidian snarled as he turned away from me. Running a hand through his hair, he glared at me over his shoulder. “Don’t go outside or near the windows,” he ordered.
“Fine.”
He watched me for a few more seconds before he joined the others in the basement.
I lingered in the hallway, hoping that he would change his mind but when it didn’t happen, I made my way upstairs. His warning flashed through my mind as I headed towards my bedroom. There were a lot of windows in it. Ezra’s room had fewer but it didn’t have a lot of places to hide.
Entering, Devrim’s room, I glanced around before I walked over to the bed and pulled the sheets from it. I grabbed two pillows too before I made my way to the bathroom. After inspecting every inch of it, I chose the corner behind the door to lie down.
My father was a murder and now I was one too. The thought flashed through my mind as I curled into a ball and clutched the sheet to my chest. He had innocent girls killed to frame the shifters. Technically he hadn’t killed them himself but he had paid someone to do it which was still considered murder.
All I had done was to defend myself but it wasn’t going to change the fact that I had taken a life.
What was going to happen now? I was the cause for it all. If I hadn’t befriended them, Mom would have still been alive. I would still have had a family and Devrim’s pride wouldn’t be turning against them.
They had broken into my apartment and trashed it for reasons unknown. I shuddered when I remembered the way the pride had ganged up on us when Devrim had questioned the woman about the necklace. There were hundreds of members, what if they all turned against them?
Would they start blaming me too?
I pressed my back tighter against the wall as I tried to hold the sobs in. Crying wasn’t going to do any good. I needed to find a way to prove to them that I wasn’t like my father, but if they were set on killing me what were the chances of any of them willing to listen to me?
Ice filled my veins when I heard a roar in the distance. I sucked in a breath and held it in as I listened. The roar was answered by a few more and it sounded bad. Very fucking bad.
Scrambling to my feet, I ran out of the bathroom and to the nearest window. Dusk had already fallen but it wasn’t hard to make out the figures slowly moving towards the cabin. I spun around and bumped right into a hard chest.
My head snapped up as hands gripped my arms to steady me.
“I told you to fucking stay away from the windows,” Obsidian growled.
“We’re being surrounded,” Devrim hissed as he entered the bedroom with Ezra right behind him.
“Find her some shoes Ezra, hurry!” Obsidian ordered him.
“Clothes?” Devrim questioned.
Obsidian hoisted me over his shoulder. “No time. We need to leave. Now!”
