Ana Oliveira Part 6

"Ah, they bought that lot over there," Luana pointed out behind her.
"Who?" I asked, feeling a slight pain in my temples as the hangover began to set in.
"I don't know... But they’re already building, there are people delivering materials, and I saw a guy coordinating everything, looked like an engineer," she said, glancing over her shoulder at the neighboring yard.
"Let’s hope it’s not someone who’ll cause trouble..." I murmured to myself. "Why did you take so long to come home?"
"Lucah didn’t want to fight with those idiots, so he tried to talk for ages to get us through. The bar owner showed up, threatening to call the police. When the ‘gang’ finally let us pass, Josiah showed up in tears. I was shocked he didn’t curse out Lucah..." she said, with a look of astonishment, crossing her arms in front of her slim body and walking over to my bed. "He was covered in scratches on his neck and arms."
"Did Josiah say anything to you guys?" I asked, leaning slightly closer to my friend, interested to hear that he had been crying.
"No, friend, he didn’t even pay us any attention. He grabbed a beer from the ice bucket and started drinking. He was really crying..."
The words I used to hurt him the previous night replayed in my mind, one by one. I wondered if that was the reason for his tears, but I didn’t feel sorry for him. I recalled how he was with that bitch Isabela.
"I told him I slept with Lucah all over the house," I said, biting my lip, seeing Luana’s shocked expression with her mouth open. "And that’s how we ended up having sex. He literally went berserk and marked me up."
"So you didn’t tell Jow that you didn’t cheat on him?" she asked, covering her mouth in shock. "Why did you throw more fuel on the fire, Ana? He already hates his brother, now you’re just validating the idea that you cheated on him."
"Josiah doesn’t care about my arguments. And he’s seeing Isabela. Did you see how they were together last night?" I asked, feeling a tear escape. "I never expected that from her. Isa knows I love that bastard."
"I thought it was really messed up, because even though you said something harsh to her, it doesn’t justify this ‘backstabbing’," she said, outraged. "I almost slapped her last night because she kept mocking me while we were trying to get rid of Jow’s goons."
"She’s such a jerk! If I wanted to be friends with her again, I wouldn’t now. I think this betrayal is unforgivable."
"Let’s hope you don’t end up pregnant..." she commented, putting her hands together and pretending to pray.
"But they say that pill works," I replied, biting my nails nervously.
"I’ve taken it before and it worked," she shrugged.
