Ana Oliveira Part 4

"Take care of Ben for me, Bernardo!" I whispered, looking up at the sky.
“Ana…” I heard Harry’s voice behind me. I wiped my tears, noticing how his tone was distant from what it used to be; it lacked the cheerful, unshakable quality that used to annoy me. “I don’t know if this is the best time to say this, but I always knew you weren’t the one who hit Bernardo.”
I accepted the hand he offered to help me up from the ground, swallowing hard as I faced him. He wore colors similar to Josiah’s clothing, in jogger pants with chains on the sides and a simple tank top.
“Look, you didn’t seem okay, but you were far from where Bernardo fell. He was at the corner of the street and there was glass around him, man. I told Josiah this. I even asked your friend if she saw who did it, because she was running away, scared.”
My heart leaped from my chest, causing my blood pressure to drop so much that Harry had to hold me. Oh my God! How did I not see?! How did I miss all the signs right under my nose? How did I not realize?
