Ana Oliveira Part 4

“It was like a scene from a beautiful movie, Aninha,” Luana said, toasting with an imaginary glass. I wanted to punch that bitch’s face… “Separating you was so easy.”
“Enough, you hellish bitch!” Josiah growled. “Why did you do that to Bernardo?”
“Oh, Jow, I’ll only tell you because all these revelations have lifted my mood,” she said, pointing at him playfully. “Your nosy little friend stopped me on the street and asked me to tell Ana about you going to the maternity ward and Lucah’s funeral, even though I’d said I didn’t want him there. That idiot came right when I was looking at photos of Lucah and me on my phone, and it seemed like fate, but my phone fell on the ground with the screen facing up. And when Bernardo saw the nude of my cousin and me, he crouched down before I could react and grabbed my phone. I tried to stop him, but he ran away. So I followed him, waited for the little faggot to come out of your house and reach the corner, then hit him on the head with a wine bottle. Aninha was furious on top of her car and didn’t even see anything… And it was right in front of her. I wiped my fingerprints and threw the remains of the bottle in the street trash, and got my phone back from that nosy bastard’s filthy hands. The bad thing was that Harry saw me… I even planned to take care of him, but there wasn’t enough time, and he already opened his mouth and told you everything. When you cornered me, I thought you’d seen my phone, after all, Bernardo had entered your house, but no… You knew nothing. I toasted fate and used the opportunity to blame the only other person who was at the crime scene.”
“My saint is strong!” Harry warned, pointing a finger at her. “If you tried your luck, you’d see how many sticks it takes to make a canoe!”
“Oh, I’d love to see your cock…” Luana mocked, letting out a forced laugh.
“So you decided to make an anonymous report to incriminate Ana?” Cristian asked, strolling across the room’s carpet in his expensive, shiny shoes, while rubbing his lower lip.
“Oh, definitely, uncle. I just didn’t expect you to be a soft-hearted fool and clear the slut’s name. And why did you do it?”
“We do everything for family…” Cristian replied, sending a shiver up my spine. “Except for turds like you, of course.”
A sudden memory swept over me. A police car had picked me up at home, with my hand casted and just operated on, still recovering. I spent hours being interrogated by a detective. Josiah was there when I arrived, looking sad but never leaving my side. I even thought he might have been behind the report. Júlia was with her grandmother at the police station entrance, and all I felt was fear of being arrested, of being labeled a murderer and criminal, and being away from my baby. Then the old man, the bastard in front of me, showed up and bribed the detective, managing to sweep everything under the rug and declare that there was no suspect at the crime scene. After the arrangements, Cristian said the phrase he had just repeated, then declared he wanted to meet his granddaughter. I lost it and retaliated, saying my daughter would never come near him, airing all his dirty laundry to the detective to justify my decision. I was silenced with a slap, and the night ended with Josiah punching his father in the cheek.
“Well, we’ve heard enough,” I ended the horror show, feeling a horrible weight on my body as a bitter taste filled my mouth. “Now let’s call the police.”
Luana didn’t even flinch or show any reaction. She continued to stare at everyone with her viperous gaze. Josiah nodded at me, agreeing.
“I hope you rot in jail,” Jow said, pointing his finger at his cousin.
“I’ve already arranged everything with the relevant people, as Marta and Ana requested in the call this morning. A detective is already waiting, and I have the necessary people to ensure a report describing the danger she poses to society, making sure Luana stays behind bars for as long as possible,” Cristian said, typing something on his phone. “Done, the patrol car is on its way.”
“You know I have a complete dossier against you, don’t you, Cristian? Are you really going to mess with me?” Luana threatened, and even though she tried to maintain a fearless demeanor, a shadow of doubt crossed her face.
“Neice…” Cristian replied, walking like a fox up close to her. “If you even mention anything about me, the same detective waiting for your testimony is the one who will slit your throat. Watch out… I am someone who fears nothing.”
As soon as the patrol car arrived, Luana was taken away, shouting insults and threats at everyone present, only silenced when the patrol car door closed.
A tremendous weight left my body when that psychopath finally left. I knew we would all have to testify against her, but for now, I would rest until Cristian’s lawyers called us to give our statements at the police station.
“Little Ana Oliveira…” Cristian whispered, appearing beside me like a rock and making my heart skip a beat. Damn it! I still had to deal with that bastard… Useful… But still a bastard. “You are an intriguing woman.”
“Let’s make things clear, dear father-in-law…” I growled, turning my face sideways to meet his gaze. “Stay far away from my family!”
“You know, I thought Josiah was perfect to take over my legacy, but I was wrong. He didn’t have the strength to resist a woman… He would never be able to replace me. So, don’t worry, dear! Your only concern should be taking care of my granddaughter and making my son happy.”
I froze at the shock those words caused me. When I was about to say something, the man walked away, waving for his bodyguards to follow him.
Was that a truce?
When Cristian left in his car, I felt that finally, a dark cloud was lifting from our lives. And there were other things worth fighting for now that the storm had passed.
