Chapter 22
Life was good. It was as good and peaceful as one could possibly hope for. It had almost been four blissful months since the day they had first kissed, and things could not have been better. If one dares to say, it was perfect.
Heather can still vividly recall the day when neither she nor Alexander was able to restrain themselves, control their impulses, and completely gave in to their desires.
As Alexander had predicted, none of them willingly got out of bed or tried to detach themselves from one another.
After Heather's episode of vulnerability, she was back on her feet in just two days. Whereas Alexander was considered, it took him another five days to completely return to his former self, which only made him happier. However, his emotions were not in line with Heather's, as it made her feel uneasy. She was happy to see that he was well, but a little part of her still feared that he might leave her.
Since he was back on his feet, she could not refuse to accept the inevitable. Alexander might have to go back to his home rather sooner. Even though she didn't want it to happen, she was aware that she would be powerless to stop him at the time.
But to her utter surprise, while he was regaining his strength, he made no attempt or even the slightest hint of his return to his hometown. It was rather bizarre. While she was optimistic that he would be with her forever, she was also growing more afraid that he might leave.
On the other hand, Alexander noticed a concern emanating from her. She was more reticent than usual and cautious around him.
“Is something wrong, Heather?” He asked, hoping to allay her worries.
Heather looked at him for a moment, then turned her head aside, "There is nothing wrong," she said.
Alexander was certain that she was hiding something from him. He took a step closer to her, he held her cheeks, and forced her to gaze in his direction, saying, “I know that there is something that is worrying you. Please tell me, what has made you so sad?”
"Now that you are feeling better, when do you intend to return to your home?" With dejected eyes, Heather finally asked him.
Alexander gave her a sympathetic smile. He knew that he could not avoid his family for a very long time, but he also had no intention of leaving her or the place he now calls home.
“I am home, Heather. This might not be my hometown, but I like to call this place my home, and if you allow me, then I would love nothing more than to call you my family.”
“You are not jesting with me, are you?” She asked, her eyes welling up with tears.
Alexander knew no other way but to kiss her firmly, “I hope this proves how serious I am about you."
Heather kissed him and mumbled, "It did," not wanting their closeness to come to an end.
Unlike all other times, Alexander did not wish to resist her or fight his desire. He did not by any means stop by not going further down her neck. While carefully removing her clothing off her body, he began kissing her shoulder.
His lips ignited the fire as they touched her skin.
“What are you thinking?” Alexander asked her grabbing her stomach and pulling her closer. Her back was now the touching front. She tilted her head and moved her whole body to face him.
“The moment when you expressed your love for me the very first time,”
"Heather Crown, you are not an easy woman to resist. The instant I caught a glimpse of you when I was unconscious, I fell in love with you." Alexander spoke, removing the baby hairs from her face.
It was completely magical.
Alexander knew that Heather Crown was an addiction, something which he had no desire to leave, especially when he had an exquisite taste of her. However, to their utter surprise, since their first time, there had been drastic changes not only in their relationship but also as an individual.
The moment he had buried himself into her, and she embraced him with open heart, a door was opened within them.
Heather, who had previously experienced intense loneliness, felt whole for the first time. She no longer felt the need to miss someone. Occasionally, she did feel the longing and yearned for her past memories to return, but unlike every other time, there was no desperation or agony of not recalling her past.
As long as Alexander Diadem was with her, she could easily move on in her life with him. She could easily learn to live her life living in the present and looking for the future.
For Alexander, it was no different. The moment he laid eyes on her, he knew that he had found what he was missing out on, but to his astonishment, he not only stopped yearning for his missing soul, but he felt his lost strength return.
The power he had felt dwindling inside of him emerged with full force, making him stronger than before, if that was even possible.
There was no rational explanation behind this, but with Heather, nothing was logical.
What amazed both of them was that ever since their first night together, Heather had barely required the portion which Oscar had made for her after treating her patients. On the other hand, Alexander was concerned that Heather might relapse into a helpless state when she returned to Oscar's house for the first time following her recuperation at Junior's request. But to his surprise, Heather was still in good health when she returned. A little worn out, but nothing to worry about.
They both were again in each other arms once again that night. But Alexander was still cautious as he did not want her to exert herself.
“I am alright, Alexander,” Heather said, touching his face with both her hands.
“You do look alright, but do you feel fine? Looks can often be deceiving.” He questioned her, his eyes showing worry.
“Yes. But with you by my side, I always feel fine. Since the time we had been together, I have seldom ever felt fatigued after seeing a patient.”
“How is that even possible?” He scowled as he tried to come up with a plausible explanation.
"Honestly, I have no idea. What I do know is that I wish to take a bath.” Heather spoke.
“Do you need my assistance?” He asked with a grin as he tugged her towards the bathroom into the tub.
“Always,”
As they were soaking the water, Heather lying upon Alexander's front, both his hand around her, he could not help but ask her, “How bad was it after you healed me? It would have been a laborious task,”
Up until now, Heather never gave it a thought, but now that she did, her response not only surprised him but also her.
“I did not feel a thing.”
She sounded surprised, and Alexander could tell.
“You did not?” He asked her again in confirmation.
“I was tired, but it was from running around. It was nothing compared to how I usually feel."
Alexander was giving it some serious thought.
“What are you thinking?” Heather asked him, looking at him.
“The fact that we are connected. I do not know why or how, but somehow we are linked and belong to each other.”
Heather smiled at his response.
As Heather and Alexander were reminiscing about the romantic moments they had experienced with each other in the past four months, the knock on the door bought them back to the present.
