Chapter 24

Once Alexander convinced Heather to accompany him and his parents to his home town, he immediately assisted her with packing her luggage. There was not much she was willing to take with her, but enough to last her for a good amount of days. She was still not sure how much time she was willing to stay at Warsavor with Alexander.
Regardless of her reluctance to blindly uproot her life to a different place, other than carrying her personal possessions, Heather cautiously packed her most used portions in her bags, which she considered could benefit her potentially needy patients. She even stopped by Oscars with Alexander & his parents before departing to inform them about the recent change in plans.
Despite being somewhat taken aback by her impulsive decision to go with Alexander so soon into their relationship, they nonetheless supported her choice. They even assured her to take care of her home in her absence and even export any herbs or other assistance she might need.
Yet, things were not as seamless as they were wishing to be.
While Heather wasn't convinced by the first step she was taking towards her new life, Alexander was thrilled to have Heather move in with him and live with them. Even though Alexander was able to convince her to accompany him home, she wasn't quite at ease leaving everything behind.
Yes, she trusted him.
Even though her heart belonged to him, she was secretly growing more anxious about the new chapter with each passing time.
Further, his parent's dislike towards her added to her concerns. Their faces showed an obvious expression of disapproval at the feelings of attachment that their child had for her. She was a commoner, after all, and their son, who was destined to lead his land, was no match for her.
They were not wrong in their thoughts as she was a normal person not born with a silver spoon, but she still had an underlying optimism that, with time, they would eventually accept her as one of their own as they came to know her.
She may not have known them personally, but she held them in the highest regard. After all, they were Alexander's family and nobles.
But choices had already been made, and she would now have to live at Warsavor with Alexander and his family until further notice. However, the news of her departure traveled faster than she imagined, and within no time, people from all over her small village came to bid her goodbye.
Heinrich and Contessa Diadem were rather astonished with the recent turn of events. His son was not bluffing when he claimed that Heather Crown was the gem of this village. The spectacle they were witnessing in front of them was sufficient evidence when his son claimed that Heather Crown was indeed loved by this community. This did not, however, compel them to deter from their thought process of rejecting her as a suitable companion for their son.
They might have caved into their son's demands to bring Heather Crown along with them and manipulated the young lady to join them, but in the end, Heather Crown was still a commoner. She could never stand with them shoulder to shoulder and eye to eye.
Once they left from Mystes, it scarcely took them more than a day to get there. Both Alexander and Heather were mighty surprised by how close their towns were to one another.
There were, however, traveling in two carriages. In one, his parents were comfortably taking in their journey, and in the other one, the new love birds were enjoying their voyage, much to Contessa and Heinrich's annoyance. His son was a stubborn man, and they were well aware of this. But they refused to let his obstinance succeed.
Alexander and Heather were still very much in love, sitting close to each other with his arms around her, while on the other side of the room, his parents were trying to find a method to divert or instead eliminate their son's fixation with the new woman in his life.
Still aware of her hesitation, Alexander could not help but appreciate Heather's risk in putting her faith in him. It meant the world to him. He had no intention of hurting her and fully intended to make an honest woman out of her. He loved her, and she had come to become his entire world in such a short span of time.
During the entire duration of their travel, he regaled her with the tales of his youth while also acquainting her with the names of a couple of his family members and staff members residing with him. Alexander's youthful memories, along with their laughing over some amusing and other embarrassing incidents, filled her entire voyage.
It did make Heather yearn for her own memories. She was disappointed that she couldn't contribute to him talking about his youth because she couldn't remember her own. The only memories she could possibly share with him were limited to Mystes, which were no less than a treasure for her.
Alexander was already missing his temporary abode, which he had come to call his home, as they approached his hometown. Heather, on the other hand, was analyzing everything she was seeing around her in addition to him. Therefore, this was not the case with her. She knew no other place besides Mystes because she had no memory of her history. It was thrilling for her to leave her house for the first time and venture into the world outside of Mystes.
It was exhilarating.
Compared to Mystes, the town of Warsavor was considerably different. It was not magical or wholesome like her beloved town. The area was too dry for her tastes, and there seemed to be some sort of undesirable energy permeating it. This town's brightness seemed pallid in comparison to Mystes's luminosity. She did not hate Alexander's ancestral village, but she was unable to fall in love with it as she wished to.
Maybe she was biased because of the affection she felt of Mystes, as there was no comparison between the two towns, but at the same time, she loved Alexander, and it would only be fitting to give his hometown a fair chance.
Alexander, nevertheless, somehow sensed her thoughts.
As they entered his castle, he moved up close to her, took her hand in his, and said, “I know this place is nowhere near Mystes. In all honesty, it pales in comparison to your home, but I do hope that, with time, you will grow to like it. It is not all that bad.”
Heather believed it was fairly honorable of Alexander to comprehend her feelings.
She could not offer him a comforting smile and compassionate eyes at his kind gesture as she said, “I will be honest. I do not think I could love any place more than Mystes, but at the same time, I am sure that with time Warsavor could win my heart.”
Alexander could not help but squeeze her hand with a content smile.
"I couldn't have asked for anything more at this point."
