Chapter 62
When Heather finally entered Warsavor, they had been riding for another hour. A looming sensation inside of her caused her anxiety about the future.
At first, when Alexander took a halt near Mable's cabin, she assumed that he was dropping her off. Although knowing she would be safe with her godmother did bring some relief, but her uneasiness grew when he placed her horse next to Mable's dwelling.
During their journey, she revealed that Mabel gifted her this horse as a companion.
"I do not believe it would be a good idea for me to go with you to your house. My opinion is that it will be best if you gradually make your family more comfortable with my presence." Heather spoke, hoping Alexander would pay attention, but she ought to have known better.
"Heather, you are not going into the hiding. You have not broken any laws. Yes, I might have to smuggle you in tonight, but you are going to grace the world with your head held high and carry yourself with confidence.
Heather sighed. "Alexander."
"Have faith,"
She was pulled onto his horse by Alexander, who then sat behind her after grabbing her arm. He held the rein of his Champion and encircled her in his arms. On the other hand, Heather was fully conscious of his body meeting hers.
She could not help but gasp out when the horse jumped to ride towards Alexander's residence, even though her back was touching his front.
Fearing that their intimacy would stop and the moment would be ruined, they both kept quiet the entire time. It was comforting. It was home, which they both missed and yearned for.
However, only if things were as simple as they wished for.
“Alexander,” Heather began, but Alexander shook his head and helped her to the ground.
“Do not say anything. Just trust me like you always have.” He said.
When he grasped her hand and tugged her forward towards his home, she stood still on her feet. She did not have a good feeling about it.
Heather did trusted Alexander and believed that he would not let any harm come her way, yet something felt wrong. She felt a sense of danger looming around her. Even after successfully entering the territory of Warsavor, she was unsure whether she would be safe on Diadem’s estate.
After all, Alexander’s folks still have power over him, and their word would overrule his.
On the other hand, Alexander wanted to let out a frustrated sigh at Heather’s hesitance. He did understand her conundrum, but this step was significant.
He was also aware that no words of his would make sense to her, so he did the only thing that would compel her to come with him. He scooped her into his arms and carried her inside.
“Alexander,” she shrieked. “You can drop me off in the guest cabin. We do not need to step inside your residence."
“Heather, I will not repeat myself. You will be staying the night with me. To be completely honest, I do not trust you to not run away again if I let you into that cabin. I cannot take that kind of risk,” he said, looking straight ahead.
He does not want to subject himself to the torture of not kissing her at the entrance to his home. He can try his fortune in his room, though.
“I did come here with you. If I had any intention of running away, I would have already done that.” Heather pointed it out.
“Well then, how about this? I want to give you your rightful place in my home, which is in my room beside me.” He said as he took a long stride.
Heather wanted to counter his words but chose to keep quiet. The entire mansion was silent, and she did not wish to wake anyone up and see her in the arms of Alexander. She does not want to further subject herself to unnecessary accusations for which she has already been charged.
Alexander, though, was pleased with her muted response. Heather was smart, and he did not wish to deal with his parents at present. He just wanted to spend some alone time with Heather and rekindle their relationship.
He let out a sigh of relief when he entered his room and shut the door behind him. He carefully tilted his body so she could stand on her feet and locked the door behind me.
“All this was unnecessary,” Heather said, not pleased with his action.
However, at this moment, Alexander chose to remain silent and proceeded towards his wardrobe to get her something to wear. He pulled out his white shirt and handed it to her.
Heather, though, gave him a scowl. “I am not wearing this,”
“Heather, you cannot sleep in what you are wearing. It will not be comfortable. Further, this is not the first time you will be wearing my garments.”
“It is inappropriate. My presence in your room is not justified, Alexander. You are to wed Diona Gonzales. It is not fair to her.” Heather stated the apparent facts that were foreign to Alexander’s ears.
He took a step forward, making her take a step back. He put out a thoughtful expression on his face for a good two seconds and moved sideways to get around her back.
Before she could turn around to face him and comprehend his actions, he placed his hands on her shoulders, making her stand still as a rock.
The duration he had spent with Heather, he had come to understand that when there is no getting around with her through his words, his touch can only make her see his perspective.
He softly glided his hands through her back and pulled her tied hair sideways to have better access to her back. Even though his touch was subtle, his skin on her made her breath catch in her throat.
Before unbuttoning her gown from behind, he took a small step, his lips near her ear.
“Diona Gonzales could never take your place in my life, Heather.” He kissed her earlobes, making her breathe hard. “There is only one woman in my life, and it is you."
He glided his lips to the side of her neck and kissed it. It was her soft spot, and Alexander was aware of it. The moment his lips touched, her breath hitched once again. “And there will only be one woman who is allowed to wear my clothes, and that is you.”
He said and turned her around. He could not restrain himself any longer. He had given her a chance to get away from him, but she did not. She still felt the same, and the hell would he let her get away from him this time?
He kissed her lips without further hesitation. He waited for her to kiss him back, but she did not make any movement. He knew that Heather was in shock and trying to make sense of both their actions, but he did not wish for her to be rational. If seducing her is the way to get her on his side, then so be it.
Instead of touching her face, he glided his hands behind her back, unbuttoning all the buttons of her gown. He did not dare to remove his lips from her, fearing her running away from him again.
He made sure to lock hers in his arms as her gown felt loose on her body. He did not care if he did not get to bed her, but as long as she was with him, he would survive.
Yet he could not help but give a push to his luck. As her gown dropped, he tightly secured his hand on her bare waist, holding her tight. He traced her lips with his tongue, causing her lips to part and giving him access to her mouth.
Heather was stunned by his touch and thought to push him away. She was unable to do so. Her rational part of her brain screamed at her to push him away, but her heart was putty in his hand.
All her restraint was thrown in the bin when he traced her lips. When Alexander guided her towards his bed, none of them realized. They were very engaged in compensating for the lost time and removing every inch of clothing from their bodies. It was not rushed, but relatively slow and intense. Every single second of their time, they explored, yet without wasting any time, they cherished each other like never before.
“Heather, there is no turning back now. You can no longer deny us. This, us at this moment, is evidence enough for us to reunite.” Alexander as he stoked her cheeks.
She was looking at him with her doey eyes, her hands locked around his neck. She was laid under him with no intention of letting him go.
“Alexander, what are you trying to say?" she whispered.
“I promise you, no one will ever be able to separate us. I promise you that you will become Heather Alexander Diadem, a rightful wife of mine.”
“Do not make a promise that you will not be able to keep.” Even though his words were lyrical music to her ears, she could not get herself to think so far into the future.
Alexander, however, was not going to back down. He bought his body closer to her, if that was even possible.
“I only make a promise that I intend to keep, Heather Crown.”
He said as he pressed his lips to hers firmly.
