Chapter 73
Diona's scream drew the attention of everyone around her. They were all in a state of shock to find Juan lying unconscious on the ground. Within no time, Diona hurried towards him and placed his head on her lap. One hand was on his cheeks, and the other was shaking his shoulder in an attempt to wake him up. Her eyes were no less than a flooded pool.
Heather’s heart went out to her.
Even though she had nothing remarkable to say about the Diadem’s family, as Alexander had hurt her in the worst way possible, she could not help but feel worried for Juan, who had always been kind to her. Juan had supported her right from the beginning, before the memory loss fiasco, up until now, when she did not remember anything.
She could not be certain if he was involved in the ruse or not. Further, he could be the one who attacked them, but her heart was telling otherwise. Furthermore, Diona’s reaction to Juan's state of condition spoke volumes, making it seem almost impossible that he attacked them.
Despite everything she had gone through because of Diadem's, his condition made her worried for his well-being.
Regardless of the doubt about his involvement in the misdeed that happened with her family, unless any evidence points towards him, she cannot declare him the culprit, nor can she allow him to suffer under her watch.
After coming out of her reverie, she rushed towards Juan. However, before she could even voice out her concern or take any course of action, she was caught off guard by the urgency in Diona's voice.
“Heather, I know you despise me, and you have every reason to, but please save Juan. He is innocent. Please save him. Do not make him pay for my mistakes.”
“Diona…” Heather spoke softly, but her cousin was frantic.
“Please, Heather. Nothing can happen to him. He cannot die on my account. Please…” She sobbed.
Heather was silent for the moment, trying to process her words and contemplating their options.
“We cannot take him back to the Diadem’s mansion. I do not trust that we will not be attacked on our return. Further, if we were attacked, it would not only endanger our lives but also put his lives in danger. Additionally, we will also undoubtedly be held accountable for his state of affairs. The most crucial point is that there is no more time for us to waste."
It was then her father who spoke, “We need to take him with us to our home. It is no longer safe here. We must make haste."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Heather glanced at Juan after he was securely nestled inside the carriage.
“Is something wrong with him?” Diona could sense her worry and asked with a strained expression on her face.
“I do not have the right instruments and supplies here for me to treat him. We cannot afford to make any mistakes."
“Please do not say that,” Diona said. “You are Heather Crown. A gifted healer. A sorcerer. If it’s anyone, it’s you who could treat him. Save him, please. I will do anything you ask me to do. I will forever be in your debt. I will be your slave, whatever you want me to be. Please, Heather. I beseech you. Save him”
Heather was taken aback by her cousin’s response. Even though she had no intention of taking advantage of Diona, another significant question popped into her mind.
“What is he to you?"
Hearing the question made Diona cry harder; words choked up in her mouth. But in her mind, there was only one answer, which she was able to whisper.
“Everything,”
