Chapter 28

**James POV**

"Yes-", the doctor checked the forms the girl signed and said, "a Bella-Rose James. She was the one who brought her last night, shivering and drenched wet. A man and her", the doctor continued, praising the antics of the girl who braved the storm for her aunt.

"A man?", James asked, trying for more information on this mysterious girl.

"She must have asked for his help to bring her in. He soon disappeared once he learned the seriousness of the patient", Dr. Grey related who has learned about it through one of the nurses if the hospital grapevine is to be believed.

"But not her?", James asked, astonished by the taking off last night as the doctor revealed each event.

"Oh no. She was here the whole night sleeping on a chair in the waiting room", the doctor said.

"Interesting. About the payment Dr. Grey, my accountant will contact you", James changed the topic, tucking away the deeds of the mystery girl in his brain.

"Of course, Mr. McKenzie. Though some of the bills are already paid by her niece", the doctor said after checking the bill receipts for the tests he recommended.

"Did she? Very well, please clear the remaining payment. I would like Agatha to be shifted into private care. I would assign a neurologist and private nurse for her. How soon can I move her?", James asked straight to the point.

"Umm...Mr. McKenzie, the surgery has been done just now. The patient will feel disoriented as it is. I don't think-", the doctor said fearing he may offend him somehow.

"How soon?", James stressed.

"By...by tomorrow morning? If we tackle it carefully", the doctor blubbered, contemplating the risk to the patient after surgery done so soon.

"Very well. You will handle it then", James said closing the topic.

"But...but, Mr. McKenzie, my job, my work... I wouldn't be able to manage", the doctor stammered, wanting James to know how difficult it would be for him.

James uttered a figure that stopped all of the protests of the doctor. "You will be working only for me until Agatha gets better. You may return to your job once she is fully recovered. I will talk to the chairman", James said his decision.

"Yes sir. Very well", the doctor said, satisfied with the bargain. He would get to keep his job and with a very less workload for several weeks. Not a bad deal.

James cut the call as he contemplated what this meant? A stranger...a girl who knows nothing about Agatha went into a stormy night to her home, picked her up, checked her into the hospital, paid the bill, and stayed all night waiting for her in wet clothes. What does that mean? Who does that? James doesn't know what to think. He never had a situation where people do things for him without expecting anything in return.

This...this is a first for him. Who is this girl? He wouldn't have believed it if someone said what she did, actually happened, except the proof is before his eyes. Agatha is safely tucked in a hospital room. Did she risk visiting a strange address to help an unknown woman, why? What was in it for her? Does she know who Agatha is?

Is she trying to make her masterstroke to this rescue mission by making him indebted to her? Trying the age-old cliche on him! What was she after? His money? To trap him? James thought it better to cut her in the bud. He opened his mail account to send mail to her when he landed his eyes on the mail he got. From her.

James read it, and read it twice. The gal of this girl! How dare she? No one...no one talks to him like that. And to think this nuisance of a girl is setting to trap him. Ha!

He read each word as it expanded in size in his mind-rude, obnoxious, arrogant. Sue HIM!!! James completely ignored her p.p.s in the mail. The girl has lost it. What makes her think she knows him? Instead, he focused on her p.p.p.s. Blind? Check up for his eyes? HIS? Which world does she live in? Where did she come from? How dare she; No one dared to talk to him like that behind his back and she is emailing him directly with this rubbish?

James composed his mail his fingers going a mile a minute as he typed the words,

[mail from James to Bella]

Miss James,

First, who the hell is Aonal? Second, speaking of mail ids and checking before sending it, what kind of mail id is that? And yes, my eyes are working very fine indeed and if by chance you came anywhere near their line of sight, I would squash you like a bug.

Melanie is a lot of things, but poor she is not. If I'm what you say, an arrogant, rude, obnoxious man with a superiority complex, you are not far from it. YOU are judgmental, discriminating, discerning know-it-all with a holier-than-thou attitude. You know nothing about me or the situation! Stop throwing stones at me. I can throw a mountain if I want to.

And manners! You are talking about manners? I could sue you for slandering my character with this email. Want to check who will win the case? While you are at it, you can learn some manners for yourself.

I appreciate what you have done for Agatha. Send me your account details, I will compensate you for your services. That's all you are going to get from me. I know the tactics of your kind. It won't work for me. Though, I believe this is a new technique. If you want to get into my pants, you must have started by acting nice.

Lastly, "I'm guessing you are a man"-I wouldn't deem that question with an answer. It's none of your business.

P.s- I know a great psychiatrist who can rectify you. You need it very badly. The bill is on me. After all, you helped Agatha.

James.
