Chapter 106 Annie apologized to Nora
"Asher, I knew that you have me in your heart." Brittany was unable to contain her excitement and pressed her whole body towards Asher.
Asher glanced at her indifferently but stared at the figure in the corner from the corner of his eyes.
Watching Asher and Brittany holding each other tightly on the dance floor, Nora was inexplicably irritated.
Out of sight, out of mind. She simply stood up and walked towards the door of the banquet hall.
"Nora, where are you going?" Julian saw it and followed up.
Nora stopped in her tracks, turned back, and said coldly, "I am not feeling well and I want to be alone for a while."
After saying that, Nora walked out of the banquet hall.
Watching Nora walking away, Julian's eyes darkened uncontrollably.
Was Nora not feeling well because of Asher?
He clearly observed that Nora had become upset from the moment Asher had taken Brittany to the dance floor.
Although Nora did not state it, Julian had a hunch that Nora did not have no feelings for Asher.
If it was true that she was not into Asher, as Nora had just said, and that the relationship between her and Asher was only contractual, why had Nora's face become gloomy when she had seen Asher and Brittany dancing?
Julian felt bitter in his heart.
Just then, Lany approached Julian with an adoring face and greeted him, "Hi Julian, what a coincidence."
Lany had been staring at Julian for a long time. Ever since she stepped into the ballroom, she hadn't taken her eyes off Julian.
Now she finally found a chance to spend time with Julian alone.
Julian glanced at Lany coldly, "It's you?"
"Yeah, it's me. You still remember me?" Lany said in a surprised and shy tone, "Julian, can I have a dance with you?"
"No." Julian's cold words shattered Lany's expectations.
Julian stopped paying attention to Lany and sat alone where Nora had been sitting earlier, holding a glass of red wine in his hand.
The red wine reflected his stunning face with a touch of melancholy.
Lany flushed with anger, her hands clenched into fists on her sides.
Nora! It was all Nora's fault!
Julian adored Nora!
What was so great about Nora? How could she get so many men fascinated by her?
Lany's eyes gleamed with resentment and viciousness.
Tonight, she would show not only Asher but also Julian the true face of Nora!
Thinking of this, Lany looked around for Annie.
Seeing that Annie was getting something to eat, Lany walked over and stood next to Annie, pretending to get herself some food as well.
"Have you seen Nora?" Annie was looking for Nora and when she saw Lany and asked her, knowing that Lany was Brittany's BFF.
"Oh, Nora..." Lany pointed to the door of the banquet hall and said, seemingly without thinking, "I think I just saw her go out."
"She has gone out?" Annie frowned, wondering if Nora would have left so soon.
Annie was a little anxious because if Nora had left so early, wouldn't everything she had done so far be for nothing tonight?
She had worked so hard on getting Bruce to agree to bring her to the party and she had done so much preparation that she couldn't afford to fall short of success at the last stage!
"Are you looking for Nora? She just went out. You should be able to catch up with her now." Lany hinted.
"Thanks." Annie heard this and hurriedly headed for the front door.
The night was quiet.
Nora stood on the terrace on the second floor, leaning on the railing and looking up at the stars in the sky, as her thoughts drifted away.
What did it matter to her if Asher and Brittany were dancing?
Why was she so upset?
Nora felt a bit cold as the cool breeze was blowing. She was about to go back to the banquet hall when she suddenly heard a woman's voice, "Nora, there you are. I have been looking for you everywhere."
Nora frowned and looked at the blonde, blue-eyed, hybrid woman who showed up in front of her, who was no other than Annie.
Thinking about the unpleasant things that had happened between Annie and her previously, Nora was on the alert.
She calmly glanced at Annie, "What do you want?"
"Well." Annie walked towards Nora, holding a tray with two glasses of red wine on it.
She picked up a glass of red wine and handed it to Nora, "Miss Smith, I've come to apologize to you today."
"Apologize?" Nora looked at Annie suspiciously.
Annie came to apologize to her? How could that be possible?
That would be a turn-up for the books!
Annie nodded her head and said sincerely, "It was all my fault for those things before. I have already accepted Bruce's criticism and I know I was wrong. Now, to express my sincere apology, I would like to toast you with this glass of wine."
"Okay, I accept your apology, and there's no need to drink." Nora lowered her eyes to glance at the glass in Annie's hand and said in a clear and cold voice.
She did not think Annie would be so nice to apologize.
There might be something fishy in the wine.
Seeing that Nora did not take the glass, Annie was a bit anxious, "Miss Smith, I am apologizing to you with all sincerity today. If you don't drink the wine, you are not showing me respect."
Nora had a sarcastic smile on her face as she said, "Why should I show you respect?"
"You!" Annie almost lost her temper, but once she thought of her purpose tonight, she forced down her anger and continued to play pitiful, "Miss Smith, you still refuse to accept my apology. If Bruce knew about it, he would be angry. I really love Bruce and I don't want to lose him."
Nora looked at her coldly, "Does this have anything to do with me?"
Annie bit her lip with a pitiful look, "Actually, it was Bruce who asked me to apologize to you today. Miss Smith, please take pity on me and drink the wine, so that we can forget about our grudges and grievances, is that okay?"
Seeing Annie spared no effort in acting, Nora was quite curious.
What exactly did Annie want?
Since Annie wanted to play, she would play with Annie to see what she had up her sleeve.
"Well..." Nora pondered for a few seconds, looked convinced, and took the glass from Annie's hand, "Since you're so sincere in your apology, I'll have to accept it."
Seeing Nora take the wine, an imperceptible crafty look came to Annie's eyes. She raised the glass of red wine in her hand and held it up to Nora, "Cheers!"
"Cheers!" Nora smiled lightly, raised the glass, and secretly sniffed it.
As she expected, the red wine contained some kind of drug!
