Chapter 116 You have to fire Nora today!
The news that the Hawn Group's jewelry contained radioactive elements hit the trending topic one after another, giving rise to much discussion.
"Mr. Hawn, should we ask the press to sit on the news?" Clark asked Asher for instructions.
"No." Asher rubbed his temples and said in a deep voice, "The word has gotten out. If we let the media remove the news now, the public will assert that we have a guilty conscience."
Clark nodded knowingly, "Yes, Mr. Hawn, I understand."
"The most urgent task now is to find out the truth about these cases of radioactive element poisoning as soon as possible." Asher said with a frown.
The spearhead of the successive poisoning incidents was aimed directly at "Ice and Fire" and there was a public outcry, which indeed had a significant negative impact on the Hawn Group.
"Okay, I will have it checked out right away and find out the results as soon as possible." Clark said seriously.
Nora had the sale of "Ice and Fire" stopped and had all the products tested.
Soon, the results of Clark's investigation were available.
The president's conference room.
"Mr. Hawn, Miss Smith, we have preliminary findings on these 'Ice and Fire' poisoning cases." Clark handed Asher the information he had obtained from the investigation in the past few days.
"Well?" Nora asked impatiently as she stood alongside him.
Clark said in a deep voice, "After our investigation, the owners of these poisoning cases have indeed purchased 'Ice and Fire' jewelry, which were all purchased from regular channels with authentic invoices."
After a pause, Clark added, "After laboratory tests, the products they purchased did contain radioactive elements."
"How can this be?" Nora's eyes narrowed slightly as she said, "It means they were indeed poisoned because they were wearing 'Ice and Fire' jewelry?"
Clark nodded, "From what we've investigated so far, it does."
Nora rubbed her temples as the result was beyond her expectations.
She had thought that the culprit behind the case had used fake "Ice and Fire" jewelry to frame the Hawn Group, but now the investigation results showed that there was indeed a problem with "Ice and Fire".
"Did you find out why those jewels contained radioactive elements?" Asher flipped through the documents in his hand and asked in a cold voice.
Clark shook his head, "No. But there is a strange point: those pieces of jewelry that have problems were sold in France and originated from the French factory."
Nora pondered for a moment and called the inspector in charge of testing the products from the French factory, "This is Nora. How's the test going, any results yet?"
"Hi, Miss Smith, I have arranged for the inspectors to test all the products and we should have the results soon." The person in charge said on the other end of the phone.
Nora said with a serious tone, "Please inform me as soon as the test results are available."
"Yes, no problem!" The person in charge answered immediately.
After hanging up the phone, Nora looked at Asher, "It is most likely that the problem was in the French factory. Of course, it could also be a coincidence that the jewelry happened to be produced by the French factory and someone tampered with it and fabricated the charge against us."
Nora had just finished speaking and before Asher could say anything, the door to the president's office was suddenly opened from outside and Madge walked in with Ashley in an aggressive manner.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Asher's brows knitted slightly.
Madge, however, walked straight towards Nora and slapped a stack of newspapers in front of her, "Nora, it's perfect that you're here. See what this is?!"
Nora looked down and saw that the newspaper was full of news about the Hawn Group's "Ice and Fire" jewelry containing radioactive elements.
She said, "Mrs. Hawn, we're discussing this right now."
"Discuss?" Madge said with sarcasm in her voice, "Nora, I have said long ago that you are a jinx. This whole thing was started because of you and you've caused so much trouble for the Hawn Group, do you still have the nerve to stay?"
Nora sneered, "Mrs. Hawn, this case is still under investigation and the truth of the matter is unknown yet. Don't you think it's too arbitrary for you to say it's all because of me?"
Madge snorted, "You're the head of the 'Ice and Fire' project, right? Now that something has happened to this project, isn't it your responsibility?"
Ashley echoed, "Auntie's right. Nora, if you have any conscience at all, you should resign. Don't just stick around and wait for someone to kick you out!"
Nora smiled lightly, "I'm the head of the 'Ice and Fire' project, and as your theory goes, Asher is the president of the Hawn Group and is my leader. Now that 'Ice and Fire' has gone wrong, isn't Asher even more to blame? Shouldn't he resign as well?"
Clark's lips quivered as he heard this, thinking to himself, "Nora has got a lot of nerve."
"You!" Madge couldn't outspeak Nora, so she turned to Asher, "Asher, see how rude she is! You have to fire her today!"
"Mom, don't mind the company's business, I'll take care of it." Asher loosened his tie with impatience and stood up abruptly. He strode to the door, opened it, and let them leave without further ado, "I have work to do. Please go home with Ashley!"
"Asher, Auntie is concerned about you." Seeing Asher helping Nora, Ashley said reluctantly, "Nora is messing around and will bring down the Hawn Group sooner or later."
Asher glanced at Ashley with his cold eyes, "Ashley, don't have the wrong idea that you have the last name Hawn yourself."
"Asher, you..." Ashley's heart sank little by little.
It was true that she had been adopted, but what about her was no match for Nora, the hick!
"Asher, you're going to regret it if you keep Nora in the Hawn Group!" Madge glared at Asher in exasperation and took Ashley away.
"Nora, don't mind. My mom is just like that." Asher looked over at Nora apologetically.
Nora smiled and shook her head, "I'm fine."
Just then, Nora's cell phone rang.
She looked down and saw that it was the head of the inspection in France calling.
Nora hastily picked up the phone, "Well? Did you get the test results?"
"Yes." The head's voice, came through the airwaves, "Miss Smith, we have tested all the products produced by the French factory, and some of them, indeed, contain radioactive elements."
Nora's gaze went cold, "Okay, I got it."
Nora hung up the phone and said to Asher with a serious expression, "The test results are out and it is true that there is a problem in the French factory."
