Chapter 124 Suspecting Jones
"Okay, Miss Smith," Jones agreed without hesitation.
After Jones left, Nora returned to the ward and looked down at Asher lying on the hospital bed when her heart was overwhelmed with a sad feeling.
Nora carefully covered him with the blanket, held his hands tightly, and prayed silently, "Asher, you're going to be okay."
The clock was ticking, and each tick was like a dull pain in Nora's heart.
Nora felt like a century with each passing second.
It was getting late at night when Nora was still sitting beside the head of the bed, sleepless.
The unprecedented worry and nervousness spread in every cell of Nora's body.
In the middle of the night, Nora suddenly heard a knock on the door.
She thought it was the doctor checking in, but when she opened the room, it was Clark who appeared in front of her.
Clark brought several bodyguards with him and guarded the door of the ward.
"Clark, why did you come over?" Seeing Clark, Nora was slightly surprised.
Shouldn't he have stayed in A City at this point?
Clark stepped into the ward, glanced at Asher who was lying on the hospital bed, and said, "I rushed over as soon as I received the news."
"How's Mr. Hawn?" Clark's tone was tinged with concern.
Nora's eyes darkened, "He's been unconscious."
"Don't worry too much." Clark reassured Nora.
Nora nodded in a daze and suddenly remembered something, "By the way, what's the situation at the company now?"
The situation of the company was certainly not optimistic after Clark came here in person.
But she had been worried about Asher's injury and didn't have the time to care about it.
Clark said seriously, "After the press conference, the situation has improved and the company's share price has started to rise. But now that the explosion has suddenly occurred, there are a lot of negative comments on the Internet, and the stock price has started to dive again."
It was as expected.
Nora nodded with understanding, "Is the situation now unfavorable to us?"
"Yes." Clark said solemnly.
After a moment of contemplation, Nora said, "The first thing we need to do now is to find out the truth about this matter. Only by finding out who is behind this and making the truth public as soon as possible will we be able to restore the company's reputation."
"I'll do my best." Clark sounded firm.
"Miss Smith, please go take a rest. I'll take care of it here." Clark looked at Nora, who had a tired face, and said.
"I want to stay with Asher," Nora shook her head. As long as Asher did not wake up, she did not feel comfortable leaving for a moment.
Clark smiled, "You are also injured and need to get some rest. You don't want to collapse before Mr. Hawn wakes up, do you? You can rest assured that Mr. Hawn will be fine with me and the bodyguards here."
Nora was extremely tired after a long day and she did have some things she needed to do as soon as possible.
She looked at Clark and then at the bodyguards at the door and finally nodded, "I'll go back to my ward and get some rest. I'll come back in the morning."
Clark sent Nora back to her ward and went back to Asher's ward.
He instructed the bodyguards, "You guys stay here and don't let anyone in, got it?"
"Yes, Clark," the bodyguards replied respectfully.
Clark closed the door to the room, stepped forward to the hospital bed, looked down at Asher lying on the bed, and said respectfully, "Mr. Hawn, I have sent Miss Smith back to her ward and there's no one else here now."
Asher, who had been unconscious just now, opened his eyes suddenly.
He sat up slightly, leaned back on the hospital bed, and asked in a cold voice, "No one suspects, right?"
Clark smiled and shook his head, "No, even Miss Smith thinks you're unconscious."
Asher answered in the affirmative lightly.
"Why did you even hide it from Miss Smith? I couldn't bear to see her sad and worried." Clark asked teasingly.
Asher glanced at him calmly and said, "The fewer people know about this, the better."
Crushed by the ceiling, Asher was just slightly injured.
But this sudden explosion was just too bizarre.
It was as if it had been calculated in advance to target him and Nora specifically.
In that case, Asher simply pretended to be seriously injured and unconscious.
So that the culprit behind the plan thought it had succeeded.
In this way, Asher could make the manipulator expose himself and strike a deadly blow.
Thinking of this, Asher asked in a deep voice, "What's the situation now?"
Clark reported, "It's pretty much as expected. There's a lot of negative news about the company."
Asher's deep eyes turned colder and he said in a deep voice, "Check out Jones."
Clark was stunned for a moment, "Do you suspect that this case is related to Jones?"
Asher nodded, "Check in particular what connections Jones has to L'amour Jewelry."
"Yes, Mr. Hawn." Clark answered.
After giving all instructions, Asher closed his eyes again and lay down quietly.
Nora returned to her ward, still apprehensive.
She turned on her phone and saw that the news about the explosion of the Hawn Group was spreading all over the place.
The comments were also intense.
[The Hawn Group cheated consumers and used inferior raw materials, which caused a big explosion.]
[The explosion is probably caused by the Hawn Group itself to destroy the evidence.]
[How is it possible that even the president was injured it was self-directed? I believe Asher.]
After staring at the phone screen for a while, Nora rubbed her brow, carefully recalling what had happened before the explosion.
She and Asher were both injured, but Jones was unhurt as he had walked away to answer the phone at that moment.
Could things be that coincidental?
After thinking about it, Nora called Anthony.
"Ada," Anthony's concerned voice came from the other end of the line, "I read the news. Are you all right?"
"I'm fine." Nora said, "I'd like you to check someone out for me."
"No problem. As long as it's not that Mia." Anthony agreed readily.
"Check out Jones for me," Nora said, rubbing her brow.
After hanging up the phone, Asher's pale face came back to Nora's mind.
She was still uneasy, so she turned around and walked in the direction of the 18th floor again.
When she reached the door of Asher's ward, she was stopped by the bodyguards, "Sorry, Miss Smith, you can't go in."
Faintly, Nora seemed to hear the sound of someone talking inside the ward, which seemed to be... Asher.
Nora got nervous all of a sudden.
Could Asher have woken up?
