Chapter 123 Asher, you have to be safe!
Asher, you have to be safe!
Nora gritted her teeth as she got out of bed in pain.
She had to go to Asher. She had to see him with her own eyes that he was fine.
"Miss Smith, you woke up!" Just then, Jones pushed the door in.
"Jones, I'm so glad you're okay." Nora was relieved to see Jones and she asked quickly, "Where's Asher? Where is he? Have you seen Asher?"
Jones glanced at Nora and said with hesitation, "Mr. Hawn..."
"How is he?" Seeing that Jones was hesitant to speak, Nora asked impatiently in an anxious tone.
"He's injured and is in now in the ER." Jones sighed and added, "Mr. Hawn is seriously injured."
ER... Seriously injured...
Nora's head buzzed and suddenly went blank.
Asher had been injured for her.
The shocking scene at the moment the warehouse suddenly exploded kept flashing in Nora's mind.
If it wasn't for saving her, Asher wouldn't have been injured at all.
"Where is the emergency room?" Nora asked Jones in a loud voice.
Jones seemed startled by Nora's look and answered, "It's on the eighteenth floor."
As soon as Jones finished speaking, Nora dashed out of the ward and headed straight for the elevator.
But the elevator stopped at the top floor, so Nora turned around and walked up the stairs, speeding to the eighteenth floor.
Nora's ward was on the fifth floor and she climbed thirteen floors in one breath, and finally reached the eighteenth floor.
"Where's Asher?" Nora grabbed a doctor in a white coat and asked in French, out of her wits.
"Oh, are you talking about Mr. Hawn of the Hawn Group?" The doctor looked Nora up and down and pointed inside, "In the ER over there."
"How is he? Is he okay?" Nora asked again eagerly.
The doctor shook his head, "Sorry, I don't know."
Nora's heart was torn with anxiety. She raced to the door of ER and was stopped by the nurse at the door, "Sorry, Miss, you can't go inside because the doctor is giving first aid to the patient."
"Is the patient inside okay?" Nora's eyes fell on the closed door of the emergency room and she asked anxiously and worriedly.
The nurse smiled politely, "Miss, please rest assured that the doctor will do his best."
Rest assured?
How could she rest assured?
If anything happened to Asher, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life.
Nora was nervous. She put her hands on her chest and kept praying.
It would be fine. Asher would be fine!
"Miss Smith," a familiar voice came into Nora's ears.
Nora followed the voice and found Bruce and several executives from the French branch of the Hawn Group sitting in the seats next to the emergency room, each with a look of concern on their faces.
Nora walked over, "Mr. Bruce, how is Asher?"
Bruce looked grim, "I have just arrived as well. I rushed over as soon as I received the news... How did this happen?"
"I don't know. The warehouse exploded." Nora rubbed her temples and replied.
She suddenly realized that something was wrong.
The warehouse had not exploded until she and Asher had approached it.
Could there be such a coincidence in this world?
Just at that moment, the door of ER opened and the doctor came out.
"Asher, are you okay?" Nora rushed forward and looked at Asher with concern.
But Asher didn't answer her.
He was unconscious, lying quietly on the hospital bed with a pale face and eyes tightly closed. His head and legs were wrapped in gauze and blood was faintly seeping out.
Looking at Asher like this, Nora had a lump in her throat as tears almost came out of her eyes.
She sniffled and told herself that she had to calm down and that she couldn't panic at this point.
"Doctor, is he okay?" Nora asked, her voice trembling slightly as she turned to the doctor aside.
She was afraid to hear what she didn't want to hear.
The doctor spoke in a deep voice, "Mr. Hawn was hit on the head and the legs by the steel plate, and the injury on his head is rather serious. Although we have carried out first aid, the situation is still not optimistic."
Not optimistic... What did that mean?
Nora felt like her heart had been cut by a knife and it hurt like hell.
Why was Asher so foolish as to not even care about his own life in order to save her?
"When will he wake up then?" Nora bit her lip and asked anxiously.
The doctor sighed lightly, "It's hard to tell. Maybe tomorrow, or maybe..."
The doctor didn't go on, but he already made his point clear.
Worry, anxiety, chagrin... All kinds of complicated emotions were going through Nora's mind. She looked down at Asher, who was in a coma, and said in a firm voice, "No, Asher will be fine!"
Bruce patted Nora's shoulder, "Yes, Mr. Hawn will be fine. We'll arrange for some people to take care of Mr. Hawn."
"I'm fine. I'll stay with Asher," Nora shook her head.
The doctor transferred Asher to the VIP ward. Nora sat beside the bed, looked down at the familiar handsome face in front of her, and said with remorse, "I'm sorry, Asher, it's all because of me that you got hurt. If I hadn't insisted on coming to France, everything would not have happened."
Nora held Asher's hand after a pause, "Asher, you have to wake up!"
Just then, there was a soft knock on the door.
Nora tiptoed to open the door and there, standing outside, was Jones.
"Jones, can I help you?" Nora asked softly.
Jones looked into the hospital room, "Is Mr. Hawn okay?"
Nora pressed her lips and then said, "Still in a coma."
Jones sighed, "I never thought something like this would happen but I'm sure Mr. Hawn will be fine."
Nora raised her eyes and glanced at Jones, "It's too much of a coincidence that the warehouse exploded as soon as we arrived in France... Jones, did you find out anything?"
"It all happened so suddenly." Jones's eyes darkened, "At the scene of the explosion, the firemen found two dead."
Nora's eyelids popped, "Two dead? What were they?"
"We initially determine that they were the warehouse managers and will need to do further DNA testing to confirm it." Jones said in a deep voice, "It is possible that these two people might have been responsible for the problems with the raw materials."
Nora nodded thoughtfully, "Jones, thank you. Please keep investigating and confirm whether the two people were involved in the raw materials and whether the warehouse explosion was related to them."
