Chapter 98 Mia is afraid of the dark too
"Open it up and have a look." Asher said with a smile and a rare softness in his voice.
Nora opened the food jar suspiciously and the aroma of the food immediately greeted her. There were all her favorite home-cooked dishes inside.
"Where did you get them?" Nora breathed in. She had been so focused on the work that she had forgotten to have her dinner, and as soon as she smelled it, her stomach rumbled.
Asher said with a faint smile on his face, "I made them."
He knew that Nora would forget to have dinner when she worked hard. He had purposely gone home after work and cooked the dinner himself, and now he brought it to the company for Nora.
Nora had a strangely warm feeling in her heart. She smiled and said, "Thank you!"
"Try it and see if you like it." Asher sat down in the seat next to Nora and watched her gobble down the food with a soft smile on his face.
"It's delicious." Nora nodded her head and praised him truthfully.
At that moment, a pleasant ringtone rang on Nora's cell phone and she glanced down to see that it was Julian's call.
When Asher saw "Julian" on the screen of Nora's phone, his handsome face obviously turned gloomy.
Nora turned her head sideways to glance at Asher and picked up the phone regardless of him, "Hello, Julian. What's up?"
"Nora, it's me." Julian said with great concern in his deep voice, "I saw the news about L'amour Jewelry today, and I know it will put you at a distinct disadvantage. But don't worry, I will be a witness for you and prove that you didn't plagiarize."
During Julian's commercial shoot, the samples of "Ice and Fire" had already been produced and used in the shoot, so Julian could testify that the samples of "Ice and Fire" had been produced earlier than the launch of the news of L'amour Jewelry yesterday.
Besides, Bruce, Nina, and the others could also testify for Nora.
However, L'amour Jewelry must have thought of this and must have been well prepared to attack the Hawn Group.
It would certainly not be that easy to prove that L'amour Jewelry had plagiarized at the press conference two days later.
Nora smiled softly, "Thank you, but I can handle this myself. What I'm more concerned about now is how my design leaked out."
There were not too many people who had known about the designs of "Ice and Fire".
Jennifer from the design department, Bruce from the French company and his assistant, the photographer for the commercial shoot, the spokespeople, and some executives of the company had seen the samples of "Ice and Fire".
In other words, all these people could have leaked the idea of "Ice and Fire".
"Who do you think it could be?" Julian asked on the other end of the line.
Nora felt the cold air from the man beside her and narrowed her eyes slightly, "I don't know."
After hanging up the phone, Nora turned her head to Asher with a smile, "Asher, who do you think leaked it?"
Asher spoke lightly, "I've asked Clark to look into it, and we'll have the results soon if everything goes well."
Nora nodded and stopped talking about it.
Nora finished the heartwarming dinner Asher had brought her and wanted to continue working, but Asher insisted on taking her home with him.
"You are in poor health, so you should go home early and get some rest." Asher sounded irrecusable.
Nora was a bit helpless that if she did not leave, Asher would not leave either.
And with Asher sitting beside her, she couldn't work at all.
So, she had to follow Asher and go home with him.
The two of them walked into the elevator and the doors closed with a "ding".
Nora had just reached out and pressed the number "-1" when suddenly the lights in the elevator made a buzzing noise and flickered for a few seconds before the elevator was completely plunged into darkness.
"Ah!" Nora couldn't help shrieking.
She was afraid of the dark, ever since she had been a child.
The moment the lights went out, an inexplicable fear swept through Nora's entire body.
Nora crouched down. There were bits and pieces of her memory running through her mind.
Just when Nora was feeling overwhelmed with fear and despair, Asher's magnetic voice came to her ears, "Don't worry."
Asher stretched out his strong arms and took Nora into his arms without hesitation. His thin lips were close to her ears and he said softly, "Don't be afraid, I am here."
His voice was like a light in the darkness, bringing infinite warmth and light to Nora.
The fear and despair in her heart dissipated in an instant as she snuggled into Asher's arms, feeling a tremendous sense of relief.
"What's happening?" Nora took a few deep breaths and calmed herself down before she asked.
"The elevator probably broke down." Asher said with a frown after he took out his phone and turned on the flashlight for light.
"So what do we do now?" Nora leaned tightly against Asher's shoulder and asked in a worried voice.
She was not going to be trapped in this small dark space all through the night, was she?
Seeing that Nora seemed to rely on him in his arms, Asher smiled.
He did not expect Nora, who had always been very strong and independent, to have such a soft side.
Nora was soft, attractive, and delicate like this, making Asher eager to protect her.
Asher sniffed the faint scent of Nora greedily and wrapped his arms around her tightly.
The familiar feeling once again rushed to every cell of Asher's body.
Was it true that Nora and Mia were not the same people?
Why did they bring him such a similar feeling?
Seeing that Asher was not speaking but only holding her tightly, Nora looked up slightly, "Asher?"
Seeing that Asher was not speaking but only holding her tightly, Nora looked up slightly, "Asher?"
Asher came back to the present moment and said in a deep voice, "I'll call the security guard and ask him to get someone to fix it."
Soon, the maintenance workers came over and fixed the elevator.
With a snap, the lights turned on and brightness was restored to the elevator.
"Are you okay?" Asher glanced down at the girl in his arms.
Only then did Nora realize that she was pressing tightly against Asher's arms, and the worse thing was that her hands had somehow wrapped around his neck as if she was hanging on to him.
Such a position was extremely awkward.
Nora was so embarrassed that she hurriedly let go of Asher, "Sorry, I'm afraid of the dark, so..."
Asher gave Nora a deep look and spoke in a deep voice, "Mia is afraid of the dark too."
Mia?
Nora's heart did a flip.
So, Asher had just mistaken her for Mia again?
Nora pressed her lips together. She was about to speak when she heard Asher's low and husky voice in her ear, "Nora, are you really not Mia?"
