Chapter 18
Sunlight streamed through the window. It danced in Emma’s eyes waking her up. For a few moments she was confused, not remembering where she was. Last night flooded back into her memory. After their escapades at the pool, Will had brought her into the house, into one of the bedrooms, and made her cum until she couldn’t form sentences. He was unhinged, an animal claiming his mate.
She squirmed, remembering Will’s every touch. The way he consumed her with just his gaze. The way his hands roughly gripped her hips as she slammed himself into her over and over again. She could still hear his primal growls as he claimed her. The memory made her shiver. *I want to do it again.*
Her body lay depleted on that bed, naked and spent. She searched the room for Will, but he was nowhere to be found.
“Will?” she called out. It seemed she was alone. The room was smaller than the hotel room they normally met in, but the décor was more ornate. The furniture was a deep, rich cherry wood. The curtains were thick, and heavy with opulent designs. She looked to the side of the bed and noticed a stack of cash on the nightstand beside her. The memory of the amazing night faded away and was replaced by anger. He was treating her like a call girl. Furious, she turned off the phone he gave her. They may be in a contractual agreement, but she would not be treated like his sex toy, like something he could use and abuse as he wanted. She was a person, and she expected to be treated with respect.
“How dare he?” she muttered to herself as she got up from the bed. “That good-for-nothing, annoying, conceited playboy. Ugh, I hate him!” Emma cursed him out under her breath for this rest of the time it took her to ready to go back to her dorm. She got dressed in some clothes she found in the room, again picking the simplest outfit she could find.
She hurried downstairs, wondering if there was a bus station nearby.
“Good morning, Miss Wells,” the driver greeted as she got outside. Emma yelped in surprise. *I guess this is part of the deal. It is nice to have reliable transportation.*
“Please forgive me for startling you,” he apologized
“No, please. You’re fine. I’m just jumpy. Good morning,” she answered. “Can you take me back to my dorm, please?”
“Of course,” he answered, holding the door open for her.
The drive back was silent. The driver rarely spoke. Which was for the best at that moment. Emma was not feeling very friendly. How was Will able to get so many emotions out of her? In the course of 24 hours, he made her feel hate, gratitude, jealousy, mind-blowing ecstasy, and then hate all over again. Their relationship was strange, but thankfully temporary. After the contract was up, she’d never have to see him again.
Emma thanked the driver when they arrived and she made her way to her dorm. Sabrina had informed her that Vivian moved out, so she didn’t have to worry about sharing a space with her. But of course, Vivian was waiting for her there, a fake smile plastered on her stupid boyfriend stealing face.
“What do you want?” Emma asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Hello to you, Emma.”
“What do you want?” Emma repeated. She did not have the energy or desire to deal with Vivian right now.
“Straight to the point then. I’d like to talk you to about Matt. Emma, you’ve got to leave him alone. He is with me now. We’re in love and you are just going to have to deal with that. And besides, you have your sexy new boyfriend, Will. Stop chasing after Matt.”
“You have got to be kidding me,” Emma scoffed. “I am not chasing Matt. I want nothing to do with him. Or you for that matter. I’d love nothing better than to never see either one of you again. And Will is not my boyfriend.”
“Well then why did he say you were his girlfriend? Why are you even with him?”
“That’s none of your business.”
Vivian smiled. “Well, if he isn’t with you, then I guess you won’t mind if I snatched him up.”
“You want to break up with Matt?” Emma was taken aback. “You just told me to stay away from him. You just told me that you’re in love.”
“Sure, but love is fickle. Matt was a good option for me… before. He was handsome, and his family has money. I thought he was wasted on a girl like you. And it was so easy to take him from you.”
“That’s great for you. Then keep him,” Emma said, opening the door to her dorm room. Emma went to slam the door, but Vivian stopped it with her arm.
“The truth is, Emma, I saw you in that designer dress and getting into that sports car with the sexiest man I have ever seen in my life, and I was jealous of you. Which is not something I ever thought I’d feel about you. It should have been me. I mean, you saw how he flirted with me. It’s obvious he felt the same way.”
“And what way is that?” Emma fumed.
“That he should be with someone like me, and not some plain girl you like you. I’m sexy and fun, and I can fit into the world of the rich and famous. You just don’t belong. I know you think I stole Matt from you, but the truth is he is the one that didn’t think you were good enough. He came to me.”
“You horrific bitch!” Emma yelled. “How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t want anything to do with either of you? You both broke my heart. Is that what you want to hear? What will it take to get you out of my life?”
“You don’t have to yell,” Vivian said, pretending to feel offended. “I’m trying to do what’s best for everyone. Like I said, Matt was a good option for before. But now, what you have is better.”
“What the hell is wrong with you? You literally came to me saying to leave him alone and about how in love the two of you are. Do you even hear yourself?”
“Go back to Matt. You’ll never be able to do better than him. You’re just some poor girl with a shitty family. Will is so out of your league. I am doing you a favor. Will would never really want someone like you.”
“Go to hell, Vivian! You’re a slimy, back-stabbing slut that has no idea what it feels like to actually love someone!”
“You listen to me, Emma Wells. I took one man from you once already. One that was supposed madly in love with you. I took him, and I can certainly take this one. It’s only a matter of time!” Vivian hissed, slamming the door and leaving Emma alone.
