Chapter 58

Emma frowned, as though she still wasn’t all there yet.

“Ugh, my head is killing me,” she mumbled.

“Do you have any recollection of this evening’s events?” he teased.

“Too loud,” she protested. “Make it stop.”

Will chuckled and kissed her forehead and got up to leave, but Emma grabbed his arm. He looked back at her. Her eyes were hooded and red, and her face and lips puffy from crying. But something about that raw vulnerability made her look irresistible.

“Stay,” he commanded. When he didn’t move, Emma pulled him back down to the bed and climbed on top of him. She crashed her lips on his in a scorching kiss. Will was equally surprised and turned on by her boldness, but he would not keep this up if she was still drunk.

“Emma,” he reluctantly pushed her away. “You’re too drunk for this. You need to rest.”

“What’s wrong?” she asked as she began to undress him. “Don’t you want me?”

“Holy fuck, that’s hot,” Will muttered to himself. “A while ago you didn’t even know who I was. Do you know now?”

“Just shut up and fuck me, Will,” Emma fumbled with her dress as she tried to get it off. Will grabbed her hands to stop her. If she kept this up, he wouldn’t be able to stop.

“You’re the one who didn’t want this. You said no sex. That was your decision, remember?” he said in one last attempt to get her to come to her senses and respect her wishes.

“For the love of…” she released her hands from his grip and finished removing her dress. Will had expected there to be sexy white lingerie underneath. But there was nothing. She was completely bare to him. “If you don’t fucking take me right now, I will find another man to do it. Is that what you…”

Will cut her off by flipping them over so that he was above her. He kissed her as intensely as she had. Emma’s hands wrestled with Will’s clothes. When she decided it was taking too long to undress him, she stopped the kiss and pushed him over. She straddled him and ripped his shirt off.

“That was expensive,” he teased. He sat up and crushed Emma to his now bare chest.

“You’ll buy a new one.” Their kiss ramped up as each one fought for dominance over the other. “You’re so fucking hot.”

“What’s gotten into you?” Not that he didn’t like it. He hoped he’d see this Emma more often.

“Shut up.” She moved off of her and started to take off his pants. She peeled them off of him. He was at full attention, and before he could say anything, she took him into his mouth.

“Shit,” he cursed through his teeth. He was not expecting her to do that. Her mouth sucked hard, up and down while her tongue rolled around the tip. Emma looked up and saw Will’s face twisted with pleasure while fighting for control. It only fueled her desire more. “Damn, Emma.”

She moaned in pleasure and her hum sent vibrations through him. He pulled her off before he lost control. His eyes were dark with lust. Emma licked her lips and stared at him. A silent dare to do something about it.

“You think you’re gonna win this fight?” he growled.

“I’m gonna try,” she breathed. Will snatched her up and pinned her to the bed. She was dripping wet for him, and squirmed under gaze. “Are you going to just stare at it?” Emma mocked him.

 “You really want this?”

“Please just fuck me, Will. Please.” Emma was sober now. She knew that she was the one to take sex off the table. But she wanted to feel him at least once more. Her life was in shambles. She knew she loved him. If anything, she could keep this when he ultimately broke her heart. “Please,” she pleaded again. “Your wife is begging you to take her. Right here. Right now.”

Will couldn’t hold back anymore and stuffed her with his cock. She cried out in surprise. But that surprised yelp quickly became loud moans as he slammed into her over and over again.

“Yes, yes, yes,” she cried out. “God, yes.” Will flipped them over so that she was on top. Her hands splayed across his chest for leverage. His hands grabbed her hips and she bounced in top of him while he drilled her from underneath.

“Fuck,” he groaned as Emma grabbed at her own breasts. His hold around her tightened as he felt his orgasm get closer.

“Will,” she mewed his name. “I’m coming. Oh my God, I’m coming.” His thrusts came harder and faster and soon Emma’s orgasm was followed by his own. She collapsed on top of him. She was a mess of sweat, smeared make up and tear stains. *She’s amazing*, Will thought.

“Did I win?” she whispered. Will laughed.

“Shut up and go to sleep.”

Emma woke up the next morning alone in her bed.

“Oh God,” she groaned, facepalming. “What did I do last night?” Her mind was still a little hazy, but certain details stuck out very well. She donned a robe and ventured out to the kitchen for some water. As she opened the door, she saw a large bouquet of lilies on the coffee table in the living room. She picked them and smelled them.

“These are beautiful,” she smiled. There was a note card on the table as well.

*Emma, I’ve been called away on urgent business to Italy. I wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t an emergency. We’ll have our honeymoon when I return. Hopefully, it’ll be a lot like last night.*

*PS: You were very drunk when I came home. Remember what you said to me. It means I won.* *😉*

“Oh no,” Emma complained. She could not remember any words she said she to him, but her memory of their intense night together was vivid in her mind. She shivered as the vision rushed to her. “You said no sex, Emma,” she berated herself. “You said it. And then you go and initiate it? Ugh!” she fell back into the couch and kicked around in frustration. “Why is so hot? What did I say?” she whined into her hands.

After she chastised herself enough, she figured that since Will was away, she could work uninterrupted. Her submission was done, but she had to perfect her presentation.

His absence was a bigger distraction than his presence. It had been a few days since he’d left, and she hadn’t heard anything from him. She began to obsessively follow any news about Italy, wondering if maybe he wasn’t safe there. The TV was constantly on the news. If any mention of Europe came up, Emma’s work was forgotten.

“I can’t keep this up.” She gave up on trying to work at home. Until she heard from Will she wouldn’t be able to concentrate, which irritated her to no end. “I figured we wouldn’t have much of a honeymoon, but did he have to leave right after the wedding? Geez,” she griped. “I need to get out of this apartment. I’m going to go see Dad.”

Going to see her father turned out to be a great idea. He was recovering at an alarming rate.

“We have some great news,” the doctor said. “If he continues along this path, it seems your father will make a good recovery. It won’t be a full one, but the prognosis is much better than we originally anticipated.”

“That’s amazing,” Emma gushed, holding her father’s hands. “Do you think he’ll be able to walk again?”

“It’s possible that he may with assistance such as a walker or cane. I can’t guarantee it, but it looks promising. His speech is much more improved than we hoped. I’ll give you two some privacy.”

“Thank you, doctor.” The doctor left and Emma hugged her father. He sat up in his bed and hugged her back. “You’ve fought so hard, Daddy. I’m proud of you.”

“I’m… doing this… for you,” he said, and gave her a sweet kiss on the forehead. “How is Will?” Emma’s crestfallen expression worried her father. “Is some… thing wrong?”

“No,” she assured him. “He got called away for business in Italy. I haven’t heard from him, so I’m a little worried. That’s all. He wouldn’t have left if it wasn’t important. But I have something else to tell you.”

 “What?”

“I entered an architectural design contest, and I made it to the final round.”

 “So proud,” Emmett smiled.

“Thanks, Daddy. I’m so nervous. The final has two stages. I submitted my blueprints and proposal for stage one. I have to deliver a presentation and show them my model for stage two. I’m freaking out about it.”

“Practice,” he offered. “Practice pre..sentation. Here with me. Like when you… were little.”

“Really?” Emma’s face lit up. When she was in elementary school, she would present her book reports and projects to her parents. They would act as an audience and give her critiques. She never thought she would have that again. “I would love that!”

Emma dove into her presentation for her father who listened with rapt attention. She felt ready, it was the last thing she needed. She went home that night feeling lighter than air. Another surprise would shock her as she arrived. A phone call from Will. He apologized for not contacting her. He promised to call her every night before she went to bed. And he was a man of his word. For that week, it felt like they were a normal couple. Emma would eagerly watch her phone at night and squeal when Will called.

“Hello,” she greeted, trying not to sound too enthusiastic.

“Hello yourself. Be careful now. That almost sounded too happy. People will think you like me or something,” he laughed.

“Nope, not one little bit,” she teased. “How was work?”

“Ugh, horrible. Every time I think I’ve solved things and smoothed them over, some idiot comes along and messes up the numbers. I’m pretty someone is trying to steal from the company is really good at covering their tracks.”

“That’s horrible. Is it a lot of money?”

“Enough that it was noticed. The European markets are unstable enough. But you don’t want to hear about my boring work. I walked through this little village that you would love. The architecture here is amazing. I’ll have to bring you.”

“Really?” Emma was tickled that he would mention something that made him think of her. “I’d like that. I’ve never been anywhere.”

 “Like nowhere?”

“No. I’ve never really left the city. The farthest I’ve gone anywhere is with you.”

“Oh yeah,” he teased with a seductive tone. “I could take you farther.”

“Stop that,” she giggled. “People will mistake us for a couple of newlyweds or something.”

“We wouldn’t want that now.” Their calls were always light and playful. They were the highlight of her day. Emma found herself thinking that maybe he shouldn’t come back. Maybe they were better when they were apart. She felt like a silly lovestruck girl when they spoke. And she loved that feeling. She fervently hoped that things could be this way with them when he returned. “I’ve gotta go. Good luck on your presentation. I’ll call you tomorrow.”

 “Okay. Thanks. Bye.”

 “Bye.”

Hanging up was always awkward. On one hand, she never wanted to hang up. This was the Will she dreamed. Sexy, playful, caring Will. She wanted to hold on to him as long as she could. On the other hand, she knew this was artifice. A mutual longing that was created by distance. Things would return to the way they were. But there was a small glimmer of hope in her heart that these calls meant something to him too.

Before she knew it was time for the final, and it was time to present to the judges. She wore a chic and simple black jumpsuit with dainty silver accessories. Strappy black heels finished off her outfit for classy, yet fun vibe. She wanted to present herself as professional and creative. As she walked to the presentation hall which was located at her university campus, she noticed someone walking towards her. It was a tall woman wearing all black. Her head covered by a baseball cap. She wore dark sunglasses and a mask. But there was something about the way she walked and carried herself that struck Emma as familiar.

The woman walked past her and she knew.

 “Jess?”
