Chapter 35

**Allister POV**

The other end of the portal opened, making Warit, Rhea, and me, take a step and walk out of it.
I looked around this small town called Redworth and noticed it was eerie quiet, which for some unknown reason made my senses get on high alert mode.
I could see a few people as they rushed by fast, casting glances our way, making their eyes grow wide the moment their eyes would fall up at me as the realization followed by fear would clearly show in their eyes.
As much as I would love to gloat in this recognition of my strength and power as it was clearly shown in the eyes of the passing people, I didn’t have the time for such nor for some strange unknown reason did I even want to.
‘What was going on with me?’ I asked myself, snapping out in a second when I heard Rhea say, “This way.”
Warit and I both followed close after her as she led us straight through the town center.
In the next moment, we heard her breath hitch as she halted in her steps, hand pressed over her mouth as she said, “Oh no!”
My eyes followed hers and I saw the torn-down building that seemed to be burned down by the fire.
Rhea sprinted towards the torn building, entering inside the black mess of ashes as Warit and I rushed after her, standing outside, watching her silently.
She turned towards us, panic clearly showing on her face, making me narrow my eyes, knowing that I will not like what she will say if I was to ask now.
“Rhea?” Warit called her name, making her look over at him as he asked her, “What is wrong?”
Her mouth opened and closed like a fish with no words coming out, making me feel annoyed as I didn’t want to waste more time and even be here, but I wanted to get to Nerissa.
“T-The b-bracelet…” she stammered as she spoke, looking frantically around the ruins, searching for something making Warit look over at me and whisper, “Can you look into the ashes and see what happened here?”
Looking around at the building, I had no idea when was it burned down nor how much the ashes could show me, but if it was getting me closer to Nerissa, I sure as hell am going to try.
I nodded my head, looking for a perfect pile of ash that I could use my powers on at the same time I answered him, “I can try.”
“Great. I will go and try to find out from her what we are even looking for.” Warit said to me as I nodded my head, staying silent as he walked away towards Rhea.
I saw a small pile that looked good enough for my powers to be used on it, so I walked towards it, crouching down as I grabbed the ashes and slowly stood up.
Closing my eyes I felt the firelight up inside of me, making the fire inside of me burn as my powers have awoken the sleeping ashes in my palm, making a small tornado, circle in my palm, while I could hear, distant voices that came from Rhea and Warit but I focused on my task.
The images showed themselves in the middle of the swirling pile of ashes, making me see everything that happened, feel and hear the emotions from people that were in this building.
Growls sounded in my chest the moment I saw Wayern, seeing him stroll out with the items in his hands, burning down the former museum.
The moment the ashes collapsed back down on my palm, I looked up with my blazing eyes towards Warit and Rhea, seeing them argue with each other as I strolled towards them, feeling anger boiling inside of me.
“Wayern caused the fire and torn down this place after he took few items with him, leaving the owner inside to die, but I saw the man managed to get out from a burning building,” I said with a hard tone of voice, making Rhea gasp while Warit growled as he heard me speak.
“We need to find Mr. Stevens,” Rhea said with a slightly shaky voice as we all went out from the torn-down building, following after Rhea as she strolled back to the center of the small town, turning right towards the red and white small house.
She raised her hand and knocked on the door as the sounds coming from inside slowly showed that someone was approaching the door.
The moment the door slowly opened, Rhea hurriedly spoke to the older man, “Mr. Stevens, it is me, Rhea Crowe.”
The older man’s eyes widened and in an instant grew sad as he stepped aside and said, “You better come inside, dear.”
As she was about to take a step forward, she turned her head and looked at us as she remembered that we are also there, so she said to the older man, “Mr. Stevens, there are my friends Warit and Allister. Could they join us as well inside?”
The older man looked at Warit and me, but the moment his eyes fell on me, they grew large as I jumped in and said, “We only wish to speak with you and nothing more than that… please.”
The older man took a second to think about my words, deciding to let us go inside and join them as he opened the front door a little more so we could pass by him.
Soon as we all were led to his living room, we sat down, and without wasting time, Rhea spoke, “Mr. Stevens, we just came from the burned-down museum. Can you please tell me do you still have the bracelet that I have given to you for keeping?”
The older man’s shoulders sagged as he exhaled sadly before he spoke, “I am so sorry, dear. The monster took it with few other things with him. I promise I did try to stop him, but he was so strong and I couldn’t fight him even though I did try.”
Before Rhea could ask him anything else, I cut her as I said, “The Wayern…do you know where we can find him?”
Mr. Stevens’s eyes grew hearing my words, “H-how did you know it was Wayern?”
Taking in a deep breath and exhaling slowly, I tried to calm down my temper that was rising because of useless questions as I wanted to get the item and already be on my way to save Nerissa, I said, “I used my powers on the remaining ashes from the museum and I saw what happened that night. Now, do you know where we can find him?”
Swallowing loudly, he looked at us three and said, “Y-you wish to pursue after the monster?”
“Yes, do you know where he can be found or is there someone else that could help us with that?” I said quickly, covering up my irritation that was lacing my voice as I asked him.
“Yes… yes, I do know.” Mr. Stevens answered as he continued, “He lives in No-man's-land, but…” he stopped, looking at us as he swallowed thickly, making me push him some more so he continues, “But?” I said.
“B-but as I have said to the other male not long ago, you would be a fool to go after Wayern unless you have a death wish.” Mr. Stevens said, looking straight at me.
His words caught my intention, making me arch my eyebrow as I asked him, “What other male?”
“The dragon Alpha.” Mr. Stevens said.
‘Could that be Alexander? Fuck!’ I thought to myself.
Turning my full attention towards the older man, I asked, “That dragon Alpha, do you know his name?”
Mr. Stevens scrunched his brows as he tried to remember, but in the next moment, he shook his head as he said, “I am sorry, but I cannot remember his name. They came not long ago, and I told the Alpha what happened and about the items and he asked me the same question you just did and next thing I saw them leave so am guessing they might have left after the monster.”
I forced myself to hold in my growl that was threatening to get out as I gave the old man a toothy smile, saying, “Thank you so much for your time and help Mr. Stevens, we truly appreciate it.”
The older man stood up from his chair as we shook hands and said our goodbyes.
Walking back towards the center, Rhea was deadly silent while Warit kept glancing my way, trying to figure out what I was thinking.
My thoughts were running through my head as we continued to walk, reaching the end line of the town that was connected to the forest.
“Allister?” Warit called my name, not being able to take upon my silence and not knowing what is my, our plan.
I stopped walking, turning around towards them both as I said, “Yes?”
“Are we going after the Wayern?” Warit asked me, making Rhea come closer to his side as she didn’t like that idea, and I didn’t blame her.
I looked at her for a moment, trying to find some other solution, but knowing there was none, I said, “No.”
But before they could take a breath and relax, I continued, “Alex must have already gotten the item and has gained a head start over us.”
“How can you be so sure he got the item? I mean, Wayern took it.” Warit rolled his eyes saying the last part.
“Because from little I have seen and got to know about him and the voice that follows his reputation, I know he would not have given up until he got the item, not when it was the only thing that separated him from Nerissa,” I said in a harsh tone.
“Why the hell is he so hell-bent to get to her? She is your mate!” Warit exclaimed, making me bite my tongue before I said, “Unfortunately, I found out that she is also his mate too.”
Warit and Rhea both gasped as their eyes grew, looking at me in shock, when Rhea whispered, “But that is not possible. Multiple mates are so rare, almost impossible. No one has more than one mate, so that must be a mistake.”
Growling out feeling irritated, I said, “Well she is mine and his mate.” The fire in my eyes was burning hot when wanting to stop this discussion, I looked over at Rhea and said, “Since the bracelet is gone and there are no other Fae items to be used or found in such a short time, there is no other choice but to use what we have in hand now.”
Seeing my look and hearing the low, cold tone of my voice, Rhea took a step back, scared of what I was to say next while Warit asked, “What do you mean?”
Not taking my eyes off of her, I said, “Since we don’t have anything made in the Fae world, we do have a Fae that can bring us into their world.”
Warit turned his head towards Rhea who stood frozen in her place, looking at me wide-eyed until she shrieked and said, “B-but I c-can’t go back there! I am banished from there. If I go back…”
I cut her off as I said, “I know what they would do to you if they caught you, but I can give you a promise, bring us inside and I will keep you safe and protected. They will not land their hand on you and harm you in any way, but we desperately need your help here, Rhea…. Will you help us?”
She was silent for a moment before slowly she took a step forward and slowly nodded her head. She said, “I will.”
