Chapter 52

***The Power of Truth—Part 1.***

**Allister POV**


Early dawn finally rises.
Taking my boots I start to put them on when the door opens making me look up from my position to see Warit standing in the doorway.
“Are you ready?” he asked me.
Finishing up, I stood up from my chair, answering, “I’m ready.”
He nodded his head and turned around, leaving my room as I stood in front of the mirror looking right at myself, feeling determination building up inside of me, knowing what is to happen soon enough.
Reaching for the drawer, I opened it and took the silver dagger, and hooked it by my belt.
Closing the drawer, I walked outside my room, walking straight down to the front where I could see that everyone was already ready and waiting.
Reynard’s eyes looked up at me while Warit was wary about him, looking nonstop between the two of us.
“Everyone is ready whenever you are my Lord.” My commander stepped closer, informing me as I gave him a nod and simply said, “Let’s go!!”
I raised my hands and made a portal, wanting to reach my desired destination faster as the moment the portal was ready, one by one they stepped inside and disappeared into it.
The moment the last of my warriors entered the portal, Warit was close to following after Reynard as Rhea was silent all along.
She turned around and looked at me for a second, making me look down at her, I could see a worry showing in her eyes, making me say, “You can stay here with Emily no one is forcing you to go.”
Hearing my words, Emily took a step towards me, defiance blazing from her eyes as she said, “She can stay, but I am going. My best friend is there and I am going to help her no matter what.”
Rhea and I looked both at Emily, feeling stunned by her strong voice and posture, and before I could speak the words, Rhea said, “No, I am going as well, after all, someone has to watch over Warit.”
Chuckling at her words, I motioned towards the portal and said, “Then go ahead, I’ll follow after you both.”
Nodding their heads, Emily walked closely next to Rhea, and in the next moment, they finally were gone as they walked into the portal.
Feeling excitement rising inside of me, I took a step towards the portal saying, “Here I come, ready or not.”
The travel with the portal was fast and soon enough we all stepped into the grass right outside the Draconis pack border, patiently waiting as Reynard showed himself right next to me.

**Nerissa POV**

The sweet melody of birds singing on the trees outside reached my ears, making me slowly stretch out, feeling relaxed and peaceful like I have never felt before in my life.
A feeling of a strong, heavy hand wrapping around my waist and pulling me closer into a warm muscular chest, a squeak left my lips as a gentle kiss reached my shoulder making goosebumps rise on my skin.
“Good morning, love.” A raspy sleep still affected the voice of my mate, reaching my ears making me turn around in his embrace to look at his face, slowly I leaned closer and kissed his lips.
“Good morning,” I answered, smiling at him.
He wrapped me in his arms as I placed my head onto his naked chest, listening to the strong pulse of his heart.
His hand caressed my back gently, making me exhale as I relaxed into his touch, closing my eyes as a smile never left my lips.
“Did you sleep well?” he asked me and I could hear a little trace of teasing showing in his voice, making me turn my head up and look at him.
I gave him a smile about to answer, but the moment I opened my mouth, there was banging on the door that made the sweet bubble burst as we looked at the door.
Alex untangled himself from me and got out of the bed, putting his pants back on.
He turned around and looked at me, checking if I was covered before he reached the door and opened it.
“What is it? This better be good.” I heard Alex say to a person that was loudly a moment ago, banging on the door.
“Reynard was seen outside the borders together with demon warriors and their king,” Ryder spoke fast, making me grab the blankets and sit up in bed at the mention of the demon king, a king that was no other but Allister, my second mate.
Noticing my movement, Alex looked at me for a moment, and I could see his facial expression that was a moment ago soft and loving, now was emotionless, cold.
He turned away from her, focusing his attention on his Beta, showing his Alpha authority as he spoke, “Prepare the warriors, and meet me outside.”
He closed the door and went to his closet as I slowly stood up from the bed, wrapped in the blanket, walking as fast as I could towards his closet.
“Alex?” I tried to call him, showing uncertainty in my voice as the feeling that wrapped around my heart started to grow tighter, making a cold ice shiver run through my body as the feeling that something will happen, something bad, I just couldn’t shake it off.
He turned his head as he was putting on his shirt, giving me a soft look as he walked towards me, caressing my cheek with his fingers as he spoke gently, “Don’t worry, everything will be ok.”
Saying the words, he leaned down and kissed my forehead, making me grab his hand, trying to find words to prevent this feeling I was having from happening.
He stopped for a moment and gave me a sweet, gentle smile, leaning closer as he pressed his lips on mine.
The fear clouded my mind as I couldn’t help but thought that it was a last kiss we might share.
He went back to dressing and seeing he was about to put on his shoes, I rushed and grabbed my clothes, saying, “I’m coming with you.”
The look of surprise was clearly written on his face as his eyes widened before then looked right at me seriously, “No, Nerissa. You will stay here where you are safe.”
He said the words, leaving no room for negotiation as he moved past me and walked outside the room.
Stubborn as I was, I finished dressing in a hurry and rushed after him, running down from the staircase, making female and older members of his pack look at me in surprise as I noticed Alex talking outside with Cole and Ryder, turning to the wall of tall, strong warriors.
I stood right behind the door as I saw him through the glass on it, how he was giving instructions as the warriors stood and listened to every word their Alpha was saying.
Not wasting any time, I opened the door and stepped outside, making everyone turn their gaze at me as Alex stopped talking, looking with narrowed eyes right at me.
“Nerissa?” he called my name as I walked directly towards him, making him exhale deeply. Looking at Ryder, he said, “You know what to do. Go.”
Ryder and Cole marched away with the troops of warriors while Alex stayed behind, looking at me with worry. He said, “Love, I told you to stay inside. Soon as I can, I will come back to you, I promise.”
He turned around about to follow after his warriors but I ran after him, calling his name, “Alex!”
He stopped and looked at me with a stern look, saying, “Nerissa, I don’t have time for this right now. Go inside and stay with the rest of the pack.”
Without giving me any more chances to stop him, he strode ahead of the same way his warriors left as I stood there with a heavy heart looking after him, following his tall frame until I couldn’t see him anymore.
Pacing up and down, biting down on my lip, I tried to think what to do as I kept glancing the way I last saw Alex when suddenly a hand pressed gently on my shoulder, making me stop and look at the person.
Kiara looked at me with worried eyes, saying, “Let’s go inside, he will be back soon, I am sure of it.”
I couldn’t decide whether I should stay outside here and wait or follow them and see Allister.
Kiara’s hand pressed down onto my back, trying to get me to move inside when suddenly loud roars followed with sounds of fighting sounded through the air.
Kiara looked at me with wide eyes as I looked at her, sharing the same expression.
My heart contorted at the only two people I knew were out there, my mates… Alex… Allister. 
Before Kiara could stop me, hearing her call my name, “Nerissa!! No!! Don’t!! Nerissa, stop!!”
 I rushed straight towards the loud sounds of fighting, hearing screams and growls as a clashing of the bodies appeared before my eyes.
