Chapter 49

***~Trigger warning: gore, murder, fighting~***

**Alexander POV**

The growl sounded, making us both break apart from our kiss, looking away towards the entrance into my mother’s garden just to see a tall figure, hidden in the shadows as two blazing yellow eyes shine, watching towards us with such menace.
Instinctively, I pushed behind me Nerissa, taking a stance, shielding her from the predatory look of this creature.
My heart started to pump faster as the adrenaline rushed through my veins, feeling the surrounding air fill up with hostility as the tall stranger took a step forward while two more sets of growls sounded behind him, revealing two other yellow eyes, focusing right at us.
I could feel Byrneshu getting excited for the possible fight that might happen, making me take in a deep breath as a warning growl sounded out from my chest before I spoke in a strong, authoritative voice, “Who are you?”
His growls, followed by the other two behind him, grew louder as the three men stepped inside the garden.
The first and tallest of the three came into the light and I could see an ugly smirk showing on his face as he looked at me and said, in a gruff voice, “You’re worst nightmare.”
Narrowing my eyes, I kept my focus on the three males, hearing Nerissa whisper behind me, asking, “Who are they?”
I noticed their stance shifting into a fighting position, making me do the same as I prepared myself for the upcoming fight, I answered her back, “Wayern’s”
“They don’t look friendly like Cole. Maybe we should call for help?” she said in a whisper, but I knew there was no time to do that nor a way out since they were blocking our only escape route.
“I’ll keep them busy, and if you see an opening to get out of here, go and call for Ryder and the others.” I told her without looking at her but could feel her eyes burning over my skin as she said determined, “I am not running away and letting you all alone fight with these monsters.”
‘Why is she being so difficult now?! I am trying to protect her!’ I said more to myself as I glanced down at her and said with a voice that left no room in arguing, “Just please do as I said, Nerissa, I can’t bear the thought of any one of them hurting you.”
She opened her mouth to say something but was cut off by the gruff voice of the Wayern that spoke out as he took another slow, threatening step towards us, “You stole from me, and you thought you can get away with it?”
The realization hit me like a truck as he said those words, making me push Nerissa further behind me as I took a step forward, saying, “What you did is far worse than what I did. I suggest you leave now.”
He made a sound that sounded like a chuckle, saying, “O, we will when we get what we came here for.”
“Mikah, we better hurry up.” One of the males spoke up to their apparent leader, trying to look behind my back at Nerissa.
I gave a warning growl at him the moment I noticed his eyes trying to look at her, but he smirked, making my body shake from the rage that kept boiling up inside of me.
“I am so going to enjoy this.” Mikah, the one on the front said with eyes shining with such violence in them.
Everything happened so fast as the second Mikah said the words he rushed towards me, followed closely by his two goonies.
I didn’t waste a second, waiting for them to reach close to us, close to Nerissa as I charged at the three of them and the fight started.
They fought dirty as they were half shifted, with talons protruding from their hands, trying to push them inside of me, but luckily I was able to avoid those attempts.
One of Mikah goonies roared as he moved his right hand, extending and positioning his talons to slice at my chest, making me move fast and grab his wrist as I managed to catch his hand and slam my foot directly into his knee, making a loud sound of snapping to crack out in the air as a scream of pain left his throat.
“You will pay for this!” the second goony said as he charged at me, throwing punches at me, trying to find the opening as I managed to block his advances.
As we struggled, we both fell down on the ground, he was on top of me, trying to reach for my throat as I tried to avoid the spikes of his talons to rip into my skin, I moved my head to the side realizing I am fighting only with one as the other is still yelping in pain next to us, but Mikah was nowhere near us.
Panic rushed through me as I looked to the place I left Nerissa, seeing Mikah clenching and unclenching his hands, rolling his shoulders as he advanced closer to Nerissa.
She stood firm in front of him, prepared to fight him, raising her hand she managed to punch him in his face, making him growl out as she wasted no second about to hit him again but only to have her wrist caught in a vice grip by Mikah.
 ‘Fuck!’ I said internally, seeing her in a vulnerable position as Mikah raised his free hand up in the air, about to hurt her.
I pushed the Wayern with all of my strength off of me as I rushed and stood up, charging at Mikah just in time as his hand was moving down towards Nerissa.
Her eyes locked on me, seeing me rushing towards them as Mikah was about to slice her beautiful skin, staining it with her blood.
I saw red as I pushed my body to the limits, slamming my body into his hard, making the three of us fall into the ground as his grip went loose, and Nerissa was free.
My movements were fast as I climbed on top of him and managed to throw a couple of fast and hard punches right into his face when Nerissa’s voice sounded, screaming out for me, “Alex!! Watch out!!”
A harsh kick in my back, made me lose my breath for a moment as I have fallen down to the ground as the person I saw was the one I pushed off of me a few moments earlier, held onto me, trying to hold me down while Mikah stood up and wiped off the blood that was dripping off from his broken lip and said, “Have fun with him, boys, I have another snack to dig my teeth into.”
The third guy limped closer as I fought off the one that tried to pin me down, trying to get to Nerissa as soon as I could as I couldn’t stop looking her way, seeing Mikah catching her and pressing her to his front while she tried to fight him off.
“Say goodbye to your love one,” Mikah said, looking at me, pulling her head up, and pinning it in place as he raised one of his talons about to slice it in her throat.
Taken by surprise, Mikah was thrown away from Nerissa as I broke free from the other two males and grabbed him, slamming him into the stone wall.
He growled standing up, annoyed I managed once again to mess up his plans as I rushed to Nerissa, keeping her behind me, having my eyes set on all three of the Wayern’s that were closely approaching us.
“I had enough of you! You will die first then!” Mikah said, and all three rushed at me only to have Mikah and one of his fellow goonies reach to me as we fought while the other threw himself at Nerissa, making her fight him, but got pushed down onto the ground.
Having my focus less on the two males I was fighting, giving them opportunities to manage to kick down into me while I kept throwing glances, trying to find an opening so I can go and help her when I saw the third Wayern, extending his teeth and about to sink them in her neck.
I started to turn around, about to reach over to Nerissa as a sharp, searing pain erupted through me coming from my chest and the second followed as I saw red blood staining the shirt off the sleeve of my arm.
A growling sounded from my throat as another followed, making me turn my head to the entrance and to see another Wayern appear there.
Cole stood there for a second, taking in the situation as he looked at me and Nerissa. He rushed towards Nerissa and threw off the Wayern that was about to sink his teeth into her.
I saw the two fighting as Cole manage to sink his sharp teeth into other Wayern’s neck, killing him in the process as I fought off Mikah and the other until Cole tossed the other dead Wayern aside and shouted to Nerissa, “Go get Ryder and the others.”
He reached to me, starting to fight off the other Wayern as I kept fighting with Mikah.
I saw Cole struggling with the other Wayern, so I jumped in and kicked at the male that pinned him down and about to do the same as his friend wanted to do to Nerissa.
Letting my half shift to take fast over, I stopped the male from slicing into my stomach as I plundered my talons into his, making his eyes grow wide as he looked at me in shock before falling down into the ground.
My shift went back to my human form as I looked at my bloodied hands and then at Cole, who was breathing fast, sitting on the ground, he opened his mouth to say something when a scream made us turn around and see Mikah returning inside the garden with Nerissa in his hands.
Cole stood up fast, waiting next to me as he faced Mikah in front of us, silently watching at him.
“Cole… traitor, I was hoping to see and have my revenge and have joined the party.” Mikah snarled as he said, looking down at Cole who didn’t back away from his challenging look.
“Let her go!” I said with a clear warning and growls kept coming out from my chest.
“Sure… soon as I am done with her,” Mikah said as he grabbed her chin harsh, making her yelp in pain as he held her hands together so she was unable to move, his teeth elongated showing sharp edges that aimed directly at her throat, I rushed at him followed by Cole closely behind me as I half shifted and grabbed Mikah by his throat, holding him down as all I could see was red before my eyes as a thirst for his blood was calling for me.
Cole grabbed Nerissa and took her out of the garden, leaving me all alone with Mikah who digs his talons into my already injured arm.
We fought each other as roars and growls were heard all around in the small garden, kicking off my father’s swing that he made for my mother and a few of her flowers that were planted by my mother in the pots near the swing.
I managed to slice his cheek, making the blood fall out from the wound as he hissed in pain, trying to kick down at my ribs, but got blocked as I sliced his legs, making him fall down on the ground.
“You think this is over? Even if you kill me now, it will not stop here.” Mikah panted hard, coughing up blood as the wounds I managed to give him started to bleed out heavily.
Leaning down, facing him, I looked him deep into his eyes as I said, “I will be waiting.”
I moved my hand in one swift motion, slicing through his throat, successfully killing him as his body fell down right before my feet onto the ground.
